If you'd made this on a set of islands (which would be aesthetically pleasing and probably inefficient) you could have called it Archi-hell-igo
G E N I U S
Artificial islands in a poo sea: Archi-pooie-gos
GET OUT
It would have required bridges though, and as we all know Architects not only don't deserve bridges, but they don't know how to even use them!
Nice
I like how an Architect has evolved from "someone who prioritizes aesthetics over structural integrity" to "someone who intentionally creates havoc, chaos. and poop lakes"
So, RCE, ironically enough. Lol.
What happened if let's play it out and RCE soul and memory swapped?
30 seconds in, and Matt is already giving an excuse to indulge his inner Architect.
Bruh
😂
Matts true identity has taken control
Blasphemy
He invented Poo York.
"I really don't understand the high rent."
Wow this game really is realistic!
Definitely need a tunnel City, no roads on the surface except absolutely needed
Thing is he needs roads to zone and build stuff, so it could just be blocks of housing/commercial/industry but connected only by tunnels
It's amazing how realistic you made San Francisco. The micro-grid looks just like Daly City South of SF.
Matt is slowly becoming an architect. First stopping the architects from drowning in poo, now this.
He's an imagineer. As one myself, who worked for a company literally called The Imagineers, with my job being designing buildings and infrastructure, I look at the work of architects and think... "This can be done better and more efficiently."
@@lookdawg187what happened next?
@@kikosawa nothing, cuz I didn't get paid to be the architect, only to design their auto-cad drawings in the hopes once they see a virtual tour of their idea they'll go back to the drawing board.🤣
@@lookdawg187 heh, architects right? ☕
Deciding to build the worst city possible and picking San Francisco is hilariously perfect
the irony is that he made it better, not worse
The realism of poo in the streets
As a resident of San Francisco, I can confirm that it is indeed that bad.
Was RCE based the entire time
We definitely need a series where you actually teach us about engineering. Like what actually goes into building these things.
I believe he said he already does, for his patrons.
Seconded!
We need to do a daily thing for this if we can
In his late videos, there are a lot of videos where he tell/teach us about road engineering
I feel like the devs might consider making it so there are some situations where in a citizen will never be happy. For example, if my house were flooded with pooh.... I would not be happy, regardless of anything else happening in my life.
"In this city you're not gonna get neighbors"
sounds like an amazing place to live if he just stopped there
You basically built an actual replica of San Francisco and then acted surprised when people wanted to move in.
and how bad it had to get before people ever though about leaving, too realistic
I found it incredibly hilarious that despite his best efforts, being an architect was bringing in money and making people happy.
"High rent" They are complaining that the rent is too high, for a flat in the middle of a seas of garbage..
Yeah, because it should cost 12 yen/month at this point
the rent required for it to be financially viable is higher than what people are willing to pay for living in a landfill crossed with a parking lot
lol, SF IS a living hell. You def picked the right city 👍🏼
As an architect, I find these videos hilarious!
Boooooooo
Day 6 of asking you to play spore
Cope, you non-human. Who helped you write this comment? I know you lot are illiterate!
GET THE ARCHITECT! GET HIM!
Shame.
As a biologist (neither engineer or architect) this city made me very sad. I'm declaring architect nemeses of Biology now.
I think this would worked better if the city was made really well, loads of people moved in, then he...made a change of management.
Starting the worst city in the San Francisco map is the most lore accurate thing I have ever seen on this channel.
The roundabout thing at the beginning of the video was so relatable. I live in Sweden with right hand side roads, and there HAS to be an architect that designed a roundabout in a city in Sweden. It IS going counterclockwise and there was traffic light from nowhere, so my mom accidentally drove onto the tramway and had to reverse the car to get out, and she drove against red light because she wasn't prepared for a traffic light in the roundabout
(I laughed so hard!)
Matt is trying his best to recreate London and the good old days of cholera riddled water due to sewage
Seeing new icons? Whodve thought that RCE could learn by thinking like an architect
I always ask how Matt knows how to do everything as an Architect would, I still think he is secretly one and just doesn't tell us.
He's a civil engineer, so maybe he's had to work with a few architects.
yay , one more cities skyline 2 series. they are the best
Matt is such a good engineer, that even when he try's to be an architect the town still works.
Kind of
Day 8 of waiting for Matt to upload Mindustry Part 3.
FFOTD: The biggest unit in the game is Toxopid, while the description of it says its only 3.25 blocks by 3.25 blocks, thats actually just the main body of it (its center), but with all of its legs, it becomes 20 by 20 blocks (depends if its moving which might make it longer, but when stationery its 20 by 20).
YOOOO
no ETS2
Day 14 of asking Matt to simulate North korea in city skylines 2
like my other comment so that Matt can see pls
@@XfirefoxX1 yoo immediately
They have begun doing this equivalent round about in North Carolina USA! Under overpasses now they are installing a mechanic where you drive on the left crossing the other direction of traffic until after the over pass where you then get back on the Impires side of the road! Its madness. The first time i went through one of these new ones I was like "OMG, Im on the wrong side of the Road, how!?!". Its a traffic cluster F everywhere its installed. People blocking the intersection , lines of traffic, it was not a good idea. There are many of them. They must have hired an Architect from Florida to design the roads, or at least that's my assumption.
Just to clarify, roundabouts in the US also go counter clockwise... I mean, we may laugh at the metric system but we aren't completely foolish.
Me on my way to comment this exact thing 😂
Me on my way to comment this exact thing 😂
Matt is starting to understand property values in San Francisco.
"Architects don't like straight lines"... i mean have you heard of Mies van der Rohe, Gropius, Peter Zumthor, Frank Lloyd Wright and so on?
As an architecture student in my master i really enjoy these videos, but a lot of the stuff Matt usually does in his normal videos is more "architecture" than any part of this video :D
I think he meant "useful straight lines", as those folks love pointless straight lines.
As an engineer, he probably hasn’t heard of them.
He has just seen their “designs”.
I feel him on this
Accurate portrayal of actual San Francisco.
You should add this to your realistic series. This is a pretty accurate representation of San Francisco...😂
1:54 Roundabouts rock and we need more of them!
Maybe the reason there weren't many people is because there's not many achitects and the reason why you were "losing" pops is because you were converting them to become an engineer.
If Matt was an architect, he wouldn't be worried about services. Matt just showcased a city with badly engineered services
"You're getting what you wanted, but not quite what you wanted"
In this episode, Matt becomes a Jinn
Matt sure knows an awful a lot about being an architect for someone that isn't an architect.
0:45 Left-hand traffic is more confusing, as most of the world uses right-hand traffic, including the US, China, and most of Europe.
Also the left side is the wrong side for (like 80% of the world)
Hes a sellout!!!
Engineering got too tedious, now he sits in a room and just designs things...
He has become the enemy, he is one... An Architect.
Spiff: "I'm going to delete all this medium density housing to drive demand to this other location..."
Also Spiff: "Why is this other location in such high demand?"
Two minutes into this video and I realize this is Matt's villain origin story.
You should build a place for the engineers in this city
i would want to live in a city that you built, you somehow manage to build cities that look unstable as shit and yet manage to make them structurally stable
I feel like this town represents real life fairly well, in many places these days it doesnt matter if an area has a poo river, people need that roof over their house and will pay that rent, in my city new construction went down 80% this year even though the demand is increasing
Matt successfully builds real world San Fransisco using the same thought process as the government
So I know I shouldn't but I gotta... "Without a single degree, they gave us roads that lasted centuries, and then the Engineers came!"
Actually selecting San Francisco as a worst case scenario city is appropriate with the current administration
13:21 describes some of the issues with this game so perfectly
Most accurate representation of the UK that I have seen. Well done RCE!!
Here's a challange. Using this same map. The engineers move in to save the day and make the city thive. Only catch is you can't demolish or remove anything in this layout.
Just a huge fan of this channel started playing this just because of this channel
This is fitting... San Fransisco, IRL, is a crime-ridden hellscape, complete with poo everywhere. So you're basically just imitating real life.
Can't be too bad if you're driving your car on the proper side of the road.
Architopia vs Engitopia:
Engitopia:
Bridges
Poop dams
Sky cities
Efficient road designs
Imprisoned architects
Architopia:
Bad road designs for art
Pollution
There are 3 architects who disliked the video
U cheeky nobs
Two minutes in and he's already made absolute chaos
I felt like this needed a big name movie soundtrack song, like "Ride in to the Pooger zone", with fast aeroplanes and everyfing. Top Gun mate, FANKS!
Now that I saw this video, I'm intrested to see what the city should look like to have the most unhappy people/face in the happymeter
Even on the second to last face, people were leaving, so there'd have to be an enormous surplus of people before things get ruined.
it's nice to see the realism you put into this build of san francisco, complete with shit on the streets! LUL
Honestly though, don't engineers love architects? With without them what challenges would engineers have to overcome?
Man I can't wait for Matt to go to Sheffield and realise that EVERY DAMN ROUNDABOUT HAS TRAFFIC LIGHTS NOW for some reason.
As a architecture student I can say the most effective hospital is one built on a dirt road really far away 😂
why does Matt know so much about architecture?
because he had to deal with it all those years being an RCE of course.
For those of you who thought he was an architect once and that's why he knows: shame on you, shame, shame, shame, shame
i think you need to chill w social media buddy ....
You need to get off the internet for a bit
@@slavplaysgames why because of the shame shame……
my i ask what ou mean by that?@@sarm-vr6vf
Matt is secretly telling us what we already know, hes actually an architect
Creating a Whittier, Alaska inspired town with everyone living in one building would be fun
1:48 we have roundabouts like that in The Netherlands. They have traffic-lights, because they are huge. It just makes sense from a safety pov.
Matt: in england we do cirved roads to prevent people from getting bored
Also Matt:
Lets game it out has been real quiet since this came out
I love this series
Matt builds city designed by architects
creates San Francisco
nice
Dam all of a sudden you are pumping content out!! Dont get burnt out but its good content so far
As a Californian San Francisco was the perfect place to pick
As an amateur race-car driver, that first road, with the continuous curves, looks genuinely fun to drive on
Poo flowing on the street and homeless? I think he is building the real life San Francisco
Edit: high rent and excessive tax? Sounds about right
This city reminds me of Dubai.
You know, lots of modern architecture, but zero functionality, drowning in poop.
The drinking water system you made halfway in the video is like a large scale version of the human centipede.
I have been trying pretty hard to get the 25% happiness with over 1000 pop unsuccessfully. Game still needs tuning because its way too easy to make a happy wealthy city even when trying very hard to crush their wealth with taxes and service fees and give just enough services that you can keep population from crashing.
nice video! I enjoy your cs2 series very well! you could have done a one way road after the incoming highway so the architects get trapped inside the city and would not be able to leave 😈
you had me at the clockwise roundabout. oof.
Looks like a great rally stage. Best part? No need to block of junctions 😂
It fits perfect that the last resident, Amber Gould is named almost exactly like one of major Ponzi Schemes in Poland, the Amber Gold. I guess that where funding for the city came from then?
Dude, you went corporate on this one. This makes me think of a few anticorp 80s movies lol
"Architects strand dogs" needs to be on your merch with a sad Paddy on it
To make this work you could make a good city, then cut off the roads so people can't leave, then make it terrable.
1:48 thats not how right hand driving works 😂 you go right into the roundabout.
7:47 in the game "Afterlife" that is literally how you build Hell to make it the most efficient. Only the grids are 3x3 instead of 2x2
Well, finally one of his "challenge" cities fails, and it's the one he wants to fail. So, mission successful?
Matt playing city skylines is my spirit animal
Endless curvy roads and no neighbors? That's heaven mate!
No he is joining the dark side of engineering
If I was an architect I would like to see one of those sewage drains above each home, constantly raining down all the poo onto the roof.
Hell with bridges? It exists, new york city.
The layout of where you just build roads at random remind me of places I've actually been to in southern Indiana.
Calling it San Fransisco is the most fitting name.
1:30 Like all roundabouts in the UK, it goes the wrong way, against the clock.
The vast horrible expanse of tarmac and traffic lights reminds me of the worst part of my hometown of Halifax, King Cross junction (have a look at HX1 3RR); anyone with any sense would make a roundabout there, but those people don't get into town planning.
In my part of the USA, you turn right on the roundabouts. It's fairly easy to drive around. Though i did learn to drive from people who originated from the UK and Iran.
You could easily turn this into a series. "Sanctuary Cities in Cities Skylines 2"
This is exactly what REC doing all the time in all the game, architect behavior..... Stop hiding yourself, you're bloody architect!
If you wanna see the worst of tunnelling and Architecture, look at Sydney’s new Rozelle interchange
