This was very helpful as I learned quite a bit on how to use the Speed Paints. The figures look great but I especially like the robots! Thanks for sharing this.
Thank you , Troy . I had a collection of 1 - 245 , 2000AD comics , (sold them ) ABC Warriors was one of my fav' Top was Rouge Trooper . WoW, Quick trip down the lane there , 🐺Loupis Canis .
The droids are interesting, they seems way scarier than CIS ones, on the contrary their "boss" it's a little too catoonish, but the green coat is astounding.👍
I like the main character minis but not sure about the other minis. Can’t see me playing the game at all. Shame they aren’t producing a collectors box.
Thanks for the tutorial. I'm planning on picking up this set, and this will make painting the Volgans a lot easier. Any plans on painting up Sergeant Hammerstein and his boys? The official Warlord Games scheme seems to be mostly metallics, and while I can think of a couple of quick ways to paint them (mostly just drybrush, detail, and wash), I'm wondering how you'd go about it. Especially for Hammerstein himself, seems like he deserves a bit more attention. Also, I was in the same boat as you, pretty much the only 2000 AD comics I knew were Judge Dredd. Warlord's tie-in games have gotten me to branch out to reading Sláine and the ABC Warriors, and I've been enjoying the ride.
@@SonicSledgehammerStudio i grew up in wellington and brought issue 1 in 1977 and brought weekly till i left for overseas in 2000. And many of the people I hung out with also collected/read.
Fair enough! I had a feeling you'd mention Wellington or Auckland. 😅 Maybe it was more of a location issue than one of distribution; without giving too much away, I didn't grow up in the most cosmopolitan parts of NZ, let's say.
Great Video! Still waiting on my boxset of speedpaints to arrive, seems to be a shortage down here in Australia. Will you be trying any of the new Fanatic paints from Army Painter? I'd be interested in hearing your perspective since your tutorials are much more down to earth than others.
Awesome. I'm not sure I like the leader, but the robots are nice. With Speedpaints 2.0, I've noticed they dry up very fast in hot/humid climates, so that they sometimes dry up in the brush itself! And that gunk is way harder to clean up than regular acrylics (like the Vallejos I'm used to). I'm about to give up on the Army Painter brush that came with the Speedpaints Mega Set... I've tried warm water and soap, and nothing gets rid of the paint dried in the bristles. Also it doesn't help that because of the way Speedpaints are meant to be applied, they tend to get closer to the "danger zone" of the brush's ferrule :/ Any advice or tips about this?
Definitely use a larger brush, for starters. The one that comes in the paint set is alright, but for larger areas of colour you're going to end up with speedpaint up in the ferrule no matter what you do with it. A larger brush with a bigger well shape will suit far better. The Citadel Medium Shade Brush is a good one - especially if you look after it and it keeps its tip - or a Size 2 brush from somewhere that makes them with a 'bulb' shape rather than straight-bristled as you see most.
@@TheDarkplace have you tried specifically with speedpaints? Their formulation is different from normal acrylics. Asking because I have no trouble cleaning normal paints, but if speedpaints get into the ferrule the brush is kaput (taking care that this doesn't happen is also harder with speedpaints because you're supposed to load your brush heavily, unlike with regular paints, and so the ferrule is more at risk).
@@theandf I only have a couple of speedpaints but so for the airbrush cleaner works. I am using the Tamiya cleaner which is pretty much the same as their ultra thin plastic cement. Just work it in to melt the dryed paint clean it of them wash with soap as normal. Hope that helps
The 2000AD comics bring me back a few decades... when I got them once in a while, as their import to Italy was uncertain at best.
Right? With international imports so much easier these days, comics fans don't know how good they've got it compared to when we were younger. 👴
glad you cracked out some Warriors from the Dread series
"Mr. Saturday Morning Cartoon"! LOL I really like the effect of the speedpaint over the metallic.

Really enjoyed this - looking forward to Hammerstein and friends!
She didn’t use speed paints.. after specking to her at the warlord games open day.
They kind of remember of the old, old Necrons as well 😊
I really love how the greens came out. Sweet job!!!
I love the Christmas decoration sov droid leader. He is hilarious

These are Lovely! Good job. Did you paint the good guys - Hammerstein and the Hammerstein mk. I’s?

We need Joe PIneapples!

I need to mess around with speed paints over metallics! Those troopers are awesome

Hammerstein and the other ABC boys will be next week!
This would also be a great way to paint Dark Angels
Excellent video. Thank you 😊
2000AD was absolutely common and popular in New Zealand.
When? Because it was absolutely nowhere around my spaces when I was growing up, and I was a pretty nerdy kid.

Those aren't the abc warriors
No, but game the miniatures are from is named ABC Warriors, which is why I was specific about painting Volgan.
Looks neat

I use isopropyl alcohol to clean my brushes if they get clogged up then some brush soap
Air brush cleaner is a great way of cleaning gunk out of brushes. But i can second the IPA recommendation
