    Exactly what I needed today. Any drills to help the sequence of sway then turn ?

    What a difference this lesson made for me. I have been struggling with poor ball striking and loss of distance. I watched this video last night and did some swings with Nick's three step drill. Today, I went out and broke 80 for the first time in months, shooting a 78. The front nine was a little rough trying to incorporate the hip sway into my downswing. Then I realized I was not keeping my head back. Once I did that, the pieces began falling in place. By the last three holes, three sway was feeling natural. I had 3 birdies, hit 10/14 fairways, and half the GIR. I am excited to get out there again to see how much I can improve with these moves. Thanks, Nick.

    Good stuff Nick the depth of detail you and Rob Cheney get into are very helpful to a nit picky analytical person as myself. That’s a big reason why ST appeals to me as I work 6 days a week so I want a swing that is simple and if it’s going wrong quick to diagnose and adjust.
    Cheers

    Cracking video. 66 still with some sciatica I've started lifting my left heel on the way back to get a better turn (and softening slightly my left arm at the top seems to allow me to drop it behind me much better). Very encouraging results yesterday in a Seniors Open. 78 gross. My best round for many a year...😄

    Yes thank you again. A perfect video with great timing. I have been trying to figure this out. Thanks again Nick. I am having problems with my 3 wood and Hybrids with the stack and tilt. Don't understand what I am missing . Everything else works great . Any help any video you can guide me to would be lovely 😊 Thanks again

      The 3 wood and hybrid are harder to hit in general so no real secret other than keep working at it Tone

    Hi Nick, I always look forward to Fridays! My backswing hip turn is perfect, but I have no idea how to slide or sway the hips forward before turning them on the downswing. Do you have a drill somewhere that you can refer me to? Thanks!

    Nick this is very helpful as the hips are my biggest challenge as I change my swing to S&T. As you sway them (hips) through the down swing are you pushing off the ground? If so, are you pushing (up) off your lead foot or pushing more sideways with your trail foot? Many thanks in advance. Vin

    Thanks for a great video. Appreciate the detail. I have been really working on starting the hip swaying movement first then the rotation. But as I start the rotation my hands still move toward the ball or camera...just slightly and I get over the top. Any feels or drills you can suggest to help keep the club movement more in/out.

    As you start to move the hips forward from the top, is there a kind of squat that lowers the right hip also and when does it occur exactly. Thanks Nick.

    • @NickTaylorGolf
      @NickTaylorGolf  3 года назад +1

      I feel a turn and slide with the hips from the top of the swing and keeping the head steady is key to create a side tilt at impact

    Hi, Nick - a long-time fan here. S&T tilt works well for me (great ball striking). However, when I use S&T I get lead knee pain. I keep my feet flared out, but the sides of my lead knee (left knee) are sore after a round of golf (or session at the range). Any ideas why this may be the case? What could I be doing wrong? Thank you as always.

    I always have issues getting the hip to sway left during the downswing. My upper body always takes over and I swing over the top. Are you generating the away and turn using your legs? How do you start the left sway and then with the hips.

    • @NickTaylorGolf
      @NickTaylorGolf  3 года назад

      It isn't easy to do, I feel a slide with my hips at the top and try and keep the head in position to help create a side tilt at impact. The head on the wall drill is good to get the feeling but I would start with some slow practice swings to work on the movement

  • @johnblack2851

    Hi Nick, not sure if I am asking this correctly but, if my hips are turned 30 degrees in backswing should I feel like the forward hip move is right of the target line since the lateral move happens before the hip turn? If I am turning to get lateral move down target line could that be amplifying an over-the-top move?

    Would love a drill also. This is the hardest part of S&T, IMHO. I struggle between too much sway and chunking vs. too much turn and cutting across the ball. The devil is in the timing and proportions.

    Great video but I keep hitting fat shots, the ground before the ball while trying the stack and tilt method. I’m taking so much ground that it’s hurting my back. Any key points I’m missing here.

  • @bobbarron1920
    @bobbarron1920 3 года назад

    This is my roadblock. My swing is all arms and I just can’t get the hip movement right. As a consequence, I tend to swing outside in and pull the ball a lot. Sometimes I manage to hit straight shots, but I have no power. I hit my 8 iron about 140 yards and I am 6’2” and 250 pounds. I should be able to hit an 8 iron 160 yards, but because I don’t get the hip turn right and swing inside out, I don’t compress the ball and lose a lot of power. It is very frustrating that I haven’t been able to sort this out. If you have an effective drill to help get this right, I would be grateful.

    You've completely lost contact with the tush line by p5 and both of your legs are essentially straight by pretty much p6. This is absolutely not how the best ball strikers move their lower body. Butt should be on the wall or even deeper than the wall and your lead leg should maintain flex at impact and even still be flexed post impact. Don't have to believe me, literally look up dtl videos of any great ball striker.
