No, it's reproduction.
The ego is the thinker, the scanner that makes sense of everything in terms of logic, so when you say i'm smart i'm good you are describing the thinker "the ego", when you meditate or focus on something let's say driving or doing something really good you don't think you feel, so when you meditate you go out of your mind "ego, thinker" and to your feelings.
basically the ego is the cpu of you, when the computer stops processing it shuts down.
