- Despite being 100% free and open source, VLC media player is bundled with a whole bunch of advanced features and tools. If you need to examine a video or scene on a frame by frame basis, doing so on VLC is a cinch! Here’s what you need to do.

And how to you rewind frame by frame?
Good that I don't have to watch the other 8min videos on youtube to show me this. Thanks
now how do I do it backwards?
HOW DO I DO IT BACKWARDS? MPC-HC LETS YOU DO IT
@@lastyhopper2792 Yes and as a bonus it doesn't get randomly stuck (especially at last frames of the video with VLC)
mpc-hc saved my life for this reason. As a skateboarder I needed that feature for viewing tricks frames carefully.
Thank you!
How do i going back frame pls
no options for that on vlc
Awesome!
anybody knows how to set a key for previous frame instead also ? I can't find it in the preferences. thanks a lot !
There is none! That’s why it sucks!!!
The problem with VLC's _frame by frame view_ is that it is bugged, and the developers just won't fix it. It freezes after you press E a few times in a row.
One of the last updates said that it fixed problems with seeking for some formats and that it "finally" fixes some issues. I was thinking maybe finally after more than 10 years frame by frame doesn't get stuck and maybe the whole VLC process doesn't need to be killed when i try to seek in AV1 format after i do frame by frame. But of course not none of that was fixed :D It is probably as likely as Valve releasing Half-Life 3
@@XXLcze I'm using the Media Player Classic that also comes with the K-Lite Mega Codec Pack. You can press CTRL and right or left arrow to skip frames back and forth. And it comes with a lot of different codecs for videos.
@@XXLcze VLC really got on my nerves
@@Marco_My_Words I got MPC-HC from Github by clsid2. The shorcuts can be changed for almost anything so it is easy for me to use it alongside with VLC. because VLC still opens h264 codec files and seeks in them fastest for my computer (when accurate non-keyframe seeking allowed)
I think that only me have that problem
Thanks
thx
what if i want to move back one frame
???
I guess this deserves another 1mn video including 40s of introduction. Gosh... hopefully the environmental impacts of videos are not massively greater than text... Oh Wait...
no options for that on vlc
VLC frame by frame will bug out and stop working...better off using Media player classic hc-mpc
So there's no going back by a frame then... that's kind of an oversite
*oversight
How do you do it on Android?
It crashes
Doesn't work for me
Just press "E". And no, there's no option for going backwards one frame... There. All your answers in just one frame, I mean, one sec.
E
hero
20 seconds in and still no info
tl;dr: Press "E"
VLC is the worse
