I dont think people realize that during the production of Steam Ages in Reflourished, the actual steam ages boss in the Chinese version hasn't realeased yet, and by the time that the steam ages pt. 2 update was realeased in reflourished, the boss that the mod team made was almost completely identical to what the chinese version had, which is insane because it goes to show that the mod team could literally run their own game at this point
The devs said on Discord that the first concepts of the Chinese Steam Ages boss were already revealed during RFL Steam Ages’ development. The Steam Ages boss in RFL is their own take based on that first concept, while 2C also develops another Zombot design over time. Admittedly the Chinese version did way better on the latest Steam Ages Zombot’s visual design, but the gameplay experience in RFL is still way better than 2C nonetheless.
@@pora5000I wonder, will the Reflourished team update the Steam Ages boss so that it's closer to the Chinese version? I don't like how it just has 2 attacks and one of them is a barely different version of the Zombot Plank Walker's Imp attack.

Design-wise, the mechanic is one of the best zombies ever made for pvz, mod or otherwise. I like to think that his model is what Nigel Blimpbottom would look like if he was in the games.
I love this world, but I have some big problems with it still. You can't plant non-instants on the tiles that the mechanic takes up, which is annoying if you want to plant a spike weed and a lot of the right most tiles are already being occupied by the manholes. Basically, when the mechanic shows up, the two rightmost lanes are basically all dead tiles aside for instants. The fact that the mechanic can't be defeated with a lawnmower is really, really dumb in my opinion because being one of the most threatening zombies that can't be destroyed by the lawnmower makes him overpowered to the point where he is probably the most overpowered zombie in the game. This is more a recurring problem with the game in general, but I wish that if a zombie carries something, that it isn't countered by burning and electric plants. That just feels like an awkward counter because it makes no logical sense that a fossil from Jurastic Marsh or a metal machine can get burned up, especially when no animation shows the object getting burned. It just makes the counter of magnet shroom less optimal than something that makes less sense like a fire pea.
This is a really nice summary on your thoughts on Steam Ages (and sometimes of Reflourished in general), it's paced very well and goes into depth on the nice pros and admittedly pretty big cons of the new part of Steam Ages. Seeing this video has definitely made me have some hope for the future of this mod, and I might actually decide to pick it up again if it continues to trend to a good direction. I do still think that your Power Creep video is the best video you've done so far but this video was no slouch either, since the upload schedule has slowed down, I can only hope to see better and better content on its way. (also i may start subtitling videos for you again bc damn that intro was hard to understand at points)
Although I don't agree with Creeps on everything, he should be the lead level designer of PvZ3. He clearly has way more passion about PvZ level design that probably everyone else working on that game and would definitely make better choices than them.
Im glad they added plenty more special zombies to this world, as the ACTUAL steam ages onlu had 3 special zombies. (Gentleman, furnace, and coal miner)

Plant idea: Napalm Tree Sun: 175 Usage: Single-use, instant When planted, it blows up, dealing 1 insta-kill of damage in a 3x3 area and coating said area in fire -the fire lasts 30 seconds and deals 1.25x pea damage every 1.15 seconds -you can plant plants on the affected area while the fire is there, but unless they are fire-based (like snapdragon or fire pea), they will also take damage -if affected area includes water, the affected water tiles will boil instead of having fire on them -explorers and their varients will be reignited upon entering the area -all damage dealt via this plant (by it's explosion or otherwise) is fire damage -fire will warm plants nearby and set tumbleweeds on fire Probably needs balance, what do you think?

Part 2 was underwhelming for me. While all the plant and zombie designs are good, and Maypop Mechanic is easily my favourite new plant in the mod (it's basically Bowling Bulb done right), a lot of the levels just consisted of Mechanic spam, which I'm pretty sure goes against the mod's desire not to spam tanky zombies, and their health is way too high. I did enjoy some levels (notably the Locked & Loaded levels, the 'Don't lose more than X' and the boss was decent too), but found the two Reverse Engineering levels to be ludicrously hard to the point they took the fun out of an interesting Brain Buster. Edit: BRUH no way are you slandering Maypop when you defend Bowling Bulb who is probably one of the top 3 worst plants in the mod

IDK if it's true, but a long time ago 2016-2019 IDK I saw extra levels after level 25 in Ancient Egypt etc. I beat Ancient Egypt's bonus levels (maybe even Seven Seas's), but years later (When I came back and beat the game in 2021), I never saw them again. I'm sure it was vanilla, because I was a kid who didn't even understand English back then, and I played on a tablet. Interestingly, when I came back at the end of 2023, I saw some bonus levels for each world in the quests/challenges place (I don't remember) for like 80 extra diamonds, and I remembered, that those were the bonus levels. So was that in vanilla too? And if yes, why they removed those bonus levels?
The bonus levels (also known as expansion levels) were extremelly hard, were planned to be a post-game for players that completed all worlds. However, since those levels were unlocked like normal levels, plenty of newcomers to the game thought they should beat them before moving on to the next worlds. Obiously, they couldn't and some quited the game. To avoid that, the levels were turned into temporal epic quests that appear from time to time to get gems. By the way, not all the worlds had expansion levels. Only Ancient Egypt, Pirate Seas, Wild West, Far Future, Jurasic Marsh and Modern Day had expansions.

Design-wise, the mechanic is one of the best zombies ever made for pvz, mod or otherwise. I like to think that his model is what Nigel Blimpbottom would look like if he was in the games.
My brain...hurts...trying to comprehend what you were saying in the intro...Good video though
Mechanic is using the code of general zombies and it's hard coded
@@jdg6192 Yeah. I asked the Discord and they told me that. Makes sense.
Indeed, although Creeps has potential to do rather a masterpiece or Good Timing (dont let him touch Vasebreaker ever again)
@@JoseViktor4099 still better than PvZ3 vasebreaker
the reflourished team put so much effort into Mechanic Zombie and the Clockworks that they made sure you see it in Steamworks, even if it kills you
Im glad they added plenty more special zombies to this world, as the ACTUAL steam ages onlu had 3 special zombies. (Gentleman, furnace, and coal miner)
I've been playing Reflourished for a few days now, and I haven't had this much fun with a PvZ tower defense in years. It's genuinely an amazing mod in my opinion.
40:32 got a smooth bowling bulb to sun transition. You're welcome.
this was a really awesome video and it’s rlly cool that you can see how much effort you put into this! i would love to see more comprehensive reviews of mods like this video! that would be awesome if you wanna pursue this stuff more. (but i get if you wouldn’t bc it’s time consuming)
Let's hope future modders will learn from reflourished.
This aged good.. they did. abscension looks better then this shit.
@@imafailure Abscension lolllll
Please subtitles! I cant understand any of the intro
bowling bulb really pops off in this world and holiday mashup
I wonder if a reverse version of Mechanic would be possible to create, where something absorbs other zombies until it reaches capacity and makes one big one
So like, a mad scientist type zombie?
7:07 Song: Showdown! from the Undertale Yellow OST
Rare footage of Peanut being useful in PVZ
Especially due to it helping out the front from the back
Certainly an intro of all time lmao 👏
Aint nothin' good like a Creeps20 video with that OMORI OST
Let me just tell you something. A mod that continues the story of its predecessor and tries the proper mechanics is the best kind.
An hour long yapping session 🥱
This video is the definition of "I like this thing, here's why it sucks!"
This mod is f*cking awesome. It takes me back man
Pvz2 reflerished is one of my favorite mods alongside altverz and the new worlds can be fun and I am excited to see what's next.

Also, this video didn't spoil my childhood innocence. You absolute scammer, Creeps.
Plant idea: Napalm Tree
Sun: 175
Usage: Single-use, instant
When planted, it blows up, dealing 1 insta-kill of damage in a 3x3 area and coating said area in fire
-the fire lasts 30 seconds and deals 1.25x pea damage every 1.15 seconds
-you can plant plants on the affected area while the fire is there, but unless they are fire-based (like snapdragon or fire pea), they will also take damage
-if affected area includes water, the affected water tiles will boil instead of having fire on them
-explorers and their varients will be reignited upon entering the area
-all damage dealt via this plant (by it's explosion or otherwise) is fire damage
-fire will warm plants nearby and set tumbleweeds on fire
Probably needs balance, what do you think?
sounds just like cherry bomb 2: boogaloo edition
I think it would be better to make it light an entire row (not lane like jalapeno) instead of being a strictly better cherry bomb.

Steam ages made by PVZ2C as most of the steam age plants this is just high quality
I heard Showdown theme in this video
Now i cant stop panicking about undertale yellow
Oh shit, just looked through newest comments and found the king!
@@RufioTheThird haha thanks!

mate bowling bulb is really good, just use 4 or more instant and stalling plants and you will see how busted he is, personally i use guac, squash, cherry/grape, and stunion
@@primalpeashooter literally anything is good when using that many instants and stallers. BB is only decent for Plant Food or when first planted, his aqua bulb is pathetically weak
The fact he points out how many zombies are destroyed by Magnet Shroom and then he shows he never used any in the b-role
Magnet is very difficult to keep alive in the frontlines of this world. I still use it, but I get not using it cuz it can be annoying. Also he used it several times, one of which at 28:55

Every time you said "Steam Ages" I heard it as "C majors"
Just watching your video wondering if you upload, definitely didn't expect this!
I bet nobody will see this comment, but full grown ultomato hard counters mechanic. Although if you're only able to get 1 max one due to having a bad economy you can micro it with escape roots, saved me a lot of pain on the later levels
Please talk about the animations in pvz2 for some of the new elements or plants are severely cut down and choppy asf
That isnt smoke, its steam, steam from the steamed ages were having!mmmm steamed ages!
Is anyone else who hasnt played reflourished yet absolutely terrified of this world

Question about 38:30, what makes Sling Pea wrong here? Is it the gems? Because I feel like by the time you get to steam ages you can afford most gem plants, so I might be missing something.

BLOODY PLANTS

15:37 is no one going to mention that he said repair imp twice when he could have said it once, I wonder why
