  • In this episode of FLY TV we join Steffan Jensen from Fly-Dressing and Vision on a fishing trip to a small river that Steffan proclaims holds really big sea trout, a claim that honestly is quite hard to believe - until you actually take a walk by the river and look attentively down in the water...
    This is a film about the unique sight fishing for really big sea trout that you can do in a handfull of small rivers in Southern Sweden, and probably other similar rivers in Sweden and around the world.

    This is a very, very impressive video of fishing for sea trout by day. The angler has the right mental approach and attitude toward fish caught and lost, uses the right casts (roll casts) to tackle extremely 'spooky' fish in difficult terrain, and offers simple, straightforward advice on tackle and clothing - my video choice of the year.

    Amazing well done video. I love his enthusiasm. That was a monster he lost. I loved the expression on his face, you could see the pain. Now that's reality TV. Any fisherman knows that feeling.

    Wonderful fishing, wonderful skills, wonderfully documented. This puts the lie to the old myth that good sea trout can only be caught at night and during a bible-black night at that. I am going to try this in my local streams. An inspiration!

    Nothing is better then this feeling when you spot a nice fish, hide and get as close as needed and catch it! :)

    I could relate to this, you fish just like me. There is no feeling in the world that equates to angling a fish out of an impossible spot out of a river that people think has no fish.
    But my heart broke with yours when you lost that big one. I've been there too, so many times.
    But, there is always another cast! And every fish you do catch you deserve. Well done!

    I fly fish in the southern US and I switched to braided line for a leader and no tippet for bass fishing in heavy cover. Are trout so spooky that using a small yet high strength braided leader like that would be out of the question?

    • @danielbergman8980
      @danielbergman8980 10 лет назад

      The problem is you don't get the turn over with braided line as with nylon or mono. And it also tangles more.

      My guess is that he wants to minimize on potential entanglements while fighting the fish and moving about on the bank and in the water, both of which are full of all kinds of vegetation. Not to mention the climbing of trees as well.

    While fishing for large fish, You need a thicker leader, not so much to get the fish on land, but to avoid the fish swimming away with one of Your flies hooked in the mouth....
    - Which may make more harm when it eventually get loose, if it "inhale" it....
    - Apart from that, amazing fishing....

    • @crazyfliesdk
      @crazyfliesdk 7 лет назад

      Dave Dick
      When your fishing here in Denmark, most of us trout and salon fishers, dont use any net at all. The net Can easily do damage to the skin of the fish. And we are setting 90% back in the water, so it's important to keep the fish in the water at all times...

    • @AlexMac783
      @AlexMac783 6 лет назад

      Handling a fish by hand is much rougher on them then a modern rubber or silicone net.
