- Hello everyone!
This is a cover version of 'Damned Draft Dodgers' by Cryptopsy.
I'm a huge fan of Cryptopsy and especially of Flo Mounier since I was a 15 year old kid. I always loved the drum sound and all the crazy stuff that they were playing. And in my opinion the last record is again a true master piece when it comes to Extreme Metal.
I recorded this the same day, I did the Fleshgod Apocalypse cover, just about two hours earlier. I somehow managed it to play some parts with heel-toe, but it still felt unnatural to me so that's why I'm not always using it...

For the sound it's also the same as for the FG cover:
Except for the bass drum and (half) of the snare drum, all the drum sounds are natural (just used pre-set eqs and compressors). For the bass I used a standard sample from the Steven Slate foundry and for the snare I mixed signals (about one half natural sound with eq, comp and just a little verb; and the other half is again a standard snare from the Steven Slate foundry. I had to pitch the sound of the sample, so it would match my real snare.
It just gives you the attack during the fast blast beats. And yes I admit, it sounds a bit unnatural but it's just a drum cover and you can sea that I'm actually playing it live...)

It's really impressive cover,but more impressive was the fact that someone actually composed this drum part.
Agree with, Flo's mind is a chaos when composing time comes.
I don't know. When writing material it just flows from people no matter how crazy. It's easy to play what you come up with. To learn this complex of material is far more impressive to me than the writing of it because he's obviously just going off on the whole song. This guy had to learn this insane shred session of a drum track. But I do covers too so I can appreciate it. As long as it wasn't figured out with drum tabs!! Lol I think that makes it too easy, gives all the secrets away.
I was writing the same... you it the nail in the head. This guy is really impressive, but the guy that wrote this and that plays this shit in every concert is waaayyyyyyyyyyyyyy more impressive...

It's music. It's NOT about who is more impressive. Flo is a killer drummer. The whole worlds knows it. Diepold is also a killer drummer, and hopefully, one day, the whole world will know it too.

I have sat and watched Flo play this song numerous times on my own drum kit in a studio owned by a buddy of mine here in Cincinnati Ohio back in 2010 with Nader sadek with another friend and x band mate Steve Tucker from morbid angel and I gotta tell ya man, if I close my eyes and listen to you play this song, it sounds like I'm right back in that studio watching and listening to Flo play again man.. holy shit, you're fucking nailing that shit David.. simply fucking amazing man.. you even have the drum tones down to a T bro.. sounds just like Flo.. from the drum tones, to the way Flo plays and everything.. perfection man.. flawless.. keep it up Dave.. you're kicking ass.. cheers..
