Wanted to say thank you! I have a Mac Studio M1 Ultra with Sequoia 15.0.1 and installed Nikon Webcam utility 1.1.0 for my Nikon z7II. Zoom would not see the camera until I followed your steps. I’m so happy it’s working now! Thanks again!
Thank you for this How do you know if quicktime is seeing an external isignt camera? sys pref: sound - not showing the mic attached to it. Mojave, Mac. Am on Mojave and an external iSight camera which is I have not lighting up. Camera w its 400 firewire connection plug on both ends - into the camera and into the HD - is daisy-chained from an Ext. LaCie Hard Drive which has a 400 firewire port, then from the Hard Drive to the computer. HD has a USBb port via cable into computer w USBa port. I am not sure it the camera is broken or the connection is just not working. Any thots of this? Thank you again for this clever work around. Does this mean that once you restart, the cameras will not show up again, unless doing the coding again?
Not sure about your challenges, FW400 is pretty old tech. Not sure how well current macOS and thunderbolt can handle things. Although from your description the HD is connected via USB, but the iSight is connected via FW400? That wouldn’t work, the FW400 would have to go all the way through into a thunderbolt FW adapter into the Mac. As far as the last question, The change you make will remain, no worries about restarting. The exception might be when a new macOS is released, so it might break under Sequoia, and require the same fix.
