My word is Faith and Gratitude, to have restores Faith spiritually but also in life in general and to live in the present moment and be grateful for each and everyday, the little things in life are important and if you put God first, your Faith will be restored and you will be greatful for the little things, that's so humbling ❤

My word for 2023 was Joy . I fight anxiety and depression with the help of Jesus along with 5 Chronic conditions. So last year I decided that I wanted to look for Joy in every situation and I did in a majority of my days and situations .
This my worst is Peace l want to have Peace in my home , l want my husband to feel it and I want to help others to experience it as well. So once I get it and have it in my home I will help others as well.
We are starting a Fast at church next Sunday and this is when I am hoping to get clarity on my plans. I will be reading my Bible in the morning and decluttering and cleaning in the afternoon. I am so excited for this new year and I am focusing on menu planning as well. I will sir there all day going through Pinterest looking for stuff for dinner and it's 4:30 and I am still stumped.
    Love & prayers ❤️ 🙏🏻

I have my tree up until the end of February - in January my great granddaughter decorates it with snowflakes and snow men, in February she decorates with hearts. She is autistic and loves the lights and decorations on the tree. My neighbor can see my tree from her kitchen window and she enjoys looking at it she is a widow so if leaving my tree up for an extra few months gives her joy I will do it. Enjoy your channel - I am 83 and still learning things about keeping a clean and cozy home. Happy New Year to you and your lovely family.]

Having a “parking lot” list is a common strategy to capture other projects/topics when you’re focused on one thing. If I write the thought down my brain can let it go and doesn’t have to be constantly thinking about my current task AND remembering to do whatever other thing popped into my mind.

I think my word for the year is grace. I need to allow myself more downtime and not chastising myself for not being busy all the time. I’m super project focused, and I obsess over them until they are done. One thing that helps me is to get my idea on paper and releases it from my brain. It could be drawings, measurements, lists, but it helps to organize for when I’m ready to tackle it. I took all my Xmas decorations down today. I still like the ones outside, but like to get things back to ‘normal’ to start out the new year.

I actually have two words for this year and they are balance and flexibility. I chose these words because in 2023 I fell forward in March and hurt myself and then I fell backwards in October causing a concussion. As I was reflecting on why this happened, I realize that I had started a new position and was working at a desk. For the previous 32 years, I was an early childhood educator, working in a classroom, not having a desk and moving as I was teaching throughout the day. My first word balance is for learning to get the balance back in my body, but also to find balance in my life and not piling on too many things. I feel lack of motivation and lots of procrastination. That’s one of the reasons I like to watch your videos, because you always inspire me to get moving. My second word, flexibility, was chosen so that I can work on having more flexibility in my body, I used to be a dancer and falling was not ever anything I did, unless it was part of the choreography. I also chose it for my life because I was focusing so much on my new job that I was not doing other things that I enjoyed. I realize I don’t want to give up certain things because they bring me joy and this year I plan on being flexible in my choices and doing what I love.
Thank you, Amanda for all your inspiration through the years. It is always a pleasure to watch your content. ❤

We decorate after Thanksgiving (I'm a turkey baby and partial to that holiday) Christmas goes up first or second weekend of Dec and comes down 2nd or 3rd weekend of January then I go to everyday decor and do spring cleaning feb/Mar. I also keep it up this long because we are the ones who travel to see family for Christmas so we dont get as much time with our decor. (Growing up the 3 days before new years we deep cleaned whole house so that new years we had clean house it's my mom's thing but it always made me feel like there was no time to enjoy the Christmas decor.
My word is also Faith. It's such a great word. 2023 was a rough year and as this year has already become un predictable I know I need Faith to ground me and my family.

I smiled when you said your word was faith. I spent hours talking with my sister today about how heavy life has felt this last year. Also that there's a real feeling of that saying, "can't see the forest for the trees". Myopic. I've been way too zoomed into the hard things and the chaos, and I need to expand my perspective to a much wider and eternal view. And that absolutely takes faith. I think i can do that. But we shall see!

Hello Amanda...my word for 2024 is gratitude! I've even begun a gratitude journal early to help me focus on all the things I'm so greatful for! 2023 was a year of healing for me from past traumas and I'm so greatful for that...and so now I just want to be intentional everyday about everything that I'm so greatful for! Faith is definitely my focus as well! Continually growing my faith is always one of my priorities as well and I'm hoping as my gratitude increases so does my faith! I also just undecorated yesterday so I can reset our home and my mind. In the coming days I plan on deep cleaning and decluttering as well. Heading into the new year with everything fresh & minimal will allow new things to come my way! So thanks for you're inspiration! Have an amazing year!

I had 2 words, self respect (im an empath and i relate well to tons of different people but when it comes to myself i always leave nothing for myself.) So last year self respect was exactly that create healthy boundries for myself and give myself more self respect. This year my word(s) are "grace/love" meaning for me is i need to work on giving myself grace when i am burnt out and overwhelmed and love myself by retraining my brain to speak positive about myself instead of negatively when i dont do something perfectly I have always been a perfectionist type personality.

I believe in decorating for the season you're in and not rushing everything. Thanksgiving is a Fall holiday and deserves it's time. Christmas is stressful and wonderful, but there's no need to celebrate it earlier than December. Then, when it's over, I can enjoy my decorations. We relax and breathe and enjoy the peace between Christmas and New Years. I don't have the energy to do much of anything after Christmas let alone taking down Christmas. We wait until after Epiphany.

I start Thanksgiving weekend. Mom and I used to go to a huge local bazaar and then start. Now my mom is 90 so we skip the bazaar, and we decorate her home and then the next week I do my house. We also leave everything up until January 6th, which is the 12th day of Christmas when the Wise Men found the baby Jesus. That's how I was raised and will always do it that way. I just took our stockings off the mantel today and my husband said "you're not taking this all down already, are you?" He likes the looks of the house this time of year, and I'm OK with that! 😊

I absolutely dwell on projects & by the time they are finally at the part where I am physically doing it I don’t have the enthusiasm anymore. I have found that if I write it down & create the timeline for it, I’m able to focus on the steps and not be overwhelmed by the entirety of the project.

I do exactly what you’re saying about taking up mental space on things you haven’t even started yet. What helps me is writing down detailed notes about my thoughts somewhere and then just HAVING FAITH lol that I will be able to remember everything when I come back and read my notes when I can actually start the project. I rely heavily on writing notes because it’s the only things that gets my reeling thoughts out of my head and into a safe place. Once I write them down I can breath and rest.

Happy New Year - I find that writing projects down empties my brain from them - I mean write EVERYTHING. I have been planning my garden for 2 years and everything is in an exercise sized book with the cover decorated. I also have one for each room so that I can list website, décor, colours what I don't want as well as what I do. That way if I have an idea I write it down research it etc and it no longer needs space in my brain - once it comes time to start that project I can go through the book and see exactly what I need to do, including prep work (big red P next to it), what to buy or recycle etc. Each book is decorated differently so it's easily identified. Maybe this will help you ?

I decorate for Christmas, exactly on the second weekend of November. Every room in the house gets in own decor, even my screened in porch. Even the bathroom 🚽 gets a makeover lol. I don’t decorate as crazy as I use to. I’m going on 60 this Sept. I noticed back in 2015 that It started to get a little harder for me to decorate the way I use to. I still clean like I’m in my 20’s but just can’t seem to find that type of energy when it comes to holiday decorating.. Then, when the day after Christmas arrives, I start to put everything away 1 room at a time, 1 day at a time. No matter what room it is, I do 1 room per day so I can really take my time doing it, not exhausting myself, and do a thorough wipe down, vacuuming, mopping, etc… I find it easier this way for me. Of course it’s sad to see it all get put away, but there will always be next year 🤷🏻‍♀️.. And that’s been my new routine since 2015. It works for me at my age. However if I can go back 30 to 40 years, I would be flying all over the place like I use to, all hyper and non stop lol. I’m kooky that way 😊..

R E A N I M A T E-that’s going to be my word for the new year. I know you deal with chronic illness yourself, so you’re acquainted with how that leaves you feeling ill sometimes. Having Fibromyalgia has been such a struggle for me at times. To the point where it nearly had beaten me down completely. So I’ve really come to the realization that if I wait until I feel GOOD, I’ll never do anything. So it’s time to come back to life and tend to the basics like personal hygiene, and getting “ready” for the day, actually wearing some of these many bottles of perfume I have, getting back into my garden and doing what I can (some days will be better than others obviously) just living my life instead of spending SO MUCH time laying in bed. I think that pushing myself a little bit will help wear me out and hopefully help me with insomnia. It’s just so all connected.

We decorate for each holiday/season as they come. September 1st we put up fall, October 1st we add in Halloween, November 1st we remove Halloween and add in some Thanksgiving and finally the day after Thanksgiving, we take down all fall and Thanksgiving to make room for Christmas. Our Christmas decor stays up through the Feast of the Epiphany/Three Kings Day.
Some years I'm feeling a little overwhelmed so I'll start taking down some stuff but never our tree or Nativity.
I think we do it that way because my mom did it that way but it also feels right and lets us enjoy each special day.

To me, what you described IS the definition of Procrastination - when you spend an inordinate amount of time thinking about doing a project or whatever it may be & yet - not taking any action to do the project. Even though you may eventually - you are procrastinating the action part for whatever reason. I know we have to plan things before doing - but when the planning is taking up mental space for too long ...then...we are procrastinating! At least, imo & I should know - I am the queen of procrastination. And I find that the best rememdy is just making some kind of move toward the idea instead of going on a whole journey in my head. Almost like I have to trick myself into Not Thinking & Just Doing. I think the too long of a pause before doing comes from fear most of the time - fear of not doing things well enough, getting stuck on some part of the project & it feeling overwhelming. But I have learned that those fears are always so much bigger in my head than they Ever are in reality. And - just to add to the thinking - I try to figure out why that is?? In the end movement over thinking is always the best way, at least for me. The battle is strengthening the muscle to move earlier as opposed to later. If any of that makes sense? lol!! Happy New Year!!

My plan is to declutter as well. We have a very small house with no storage so I bought a cube shelf with bins in hopes that helps with getting rid of totes that take up way too much space. My husband gets upset when I declutter cause he sees it as a waste of money, but if it's not being used, it's taking up space that we need. I guess I have to be more selective with things that come into the house and make sure that it truly will have a home. Just because I like something, it doesn't necessarily mean that I need it. We lived in a much bigger house and downsizing has been really hard. My word for 2024 is Peace, I just want peace of mind. Happy New Year to you and your family.

My mind is constantly going in several different directions at the same time. I have always been like that. I took medication for it for a few years. I stop taking it and got more accomplished. I make lists daily again. It keeps me on track. I procrastinate more now. I am starting to look at a new place to live. Also getting my passport to do my travel bucket list. Happy New Year Amanda!

Happy New Year!! I also love to start a new year with a clean environment. Love watching your videos. My word for 2024 is actually a phrase as I couldn’t find one word to describe it. It’s “putting myself out there “. With challenges over the past few years, I have become very isolated. 2024 is the year to get out of this habit. ❤️

My word for 2024 is "challenge". I need to challenge myself for steping out of my comfort zone. As a part of my CBT therapy I did 2022/2023, but then I kinda let it slip again. So this year I will try to find that spirit once again and challenge me to do things that I find hard just so that I in the end of it all hopefully am more free and not held back by the ghost inside my head and anxiety.
And in Sweden we normally decorate before first of advent and put things down between january 6 and 13:th. Its a little debate what date is the correct one 😂 But people seem to move away from that tradition aswell and take christmas down round new years.

Faith is ALWAYS on in my head and heart. This year it is CONSISTENCY- exercising 2-3x a week, heating healthier, more self care, no more beginning or stopping those stayed here or anything else in my life both personal and work life. As for your brain on “pedal to the metal” speed and lots of directions, I am like that, I do not have ADD, I just plan ahead, think ahead about what needs to be done today, tomorrow, next week, next month, etc- I always look ahead and sometimes I get in my own way, which is why I make a list one month at a time and break it down to weekly and daily tasks/goals and I just keep moving forward with it. I use to spend way too much time on my planner but now, with the planner I have now, most of it is already there and all I have to do is add in stuff that’s personal like appointments, watering the plants, date night, etc. My brain is not so busy now and there are no more lists with sticky notes strung here, there and everywhere. Today, I am on my lunch break at work watching this and you just made my day!

This year in 2024, we are doing the Swedish version of cleaning which sounds super rude but it’s the Swedish death clean. Basically go through each room, and clean out every single item and think “if I died tomorrow would I want to burden my loved ones with this.” I’m hoping it will help with all my adhd piles I have. Also! I love how you take everything down right after Christmas. I wait till the first weekend of January, I have no idea why!

Love your outlook on Faith. I too am that person for my family and since loosing both parents, a close aunt, and cousin the last 2 years I've struggled with sadness. It's not in my nature and I don't like it but without those relationships and the ability to talk to those who I gained strength from I've been at a loss. I haven't set any goals but you're right - if you don't set it you will never attain it. Thanks' for the motivation!

I wanted to cry listening to you talk about your feelings about the holidays, extend family and the family in your home, being okay with it just being you guys. That’s been such a struggle for me because my family just doesn’t make family important during the holidays so I have to be okay with that and just make things happen in my own home. And then you talking about faith.., I’ve been in the same . boat. I’ve always been the positive one and the one talking about how God is going to make it okay and this year, I’ve just lost that. I know I need to find it again. So I’m thinking my word is going to be faith also. Thank you for sharing, Happy New Year!!🎉❤

Happy New Year Amanda & family! I think of procrastination as delaying to do something but if your constantly thinking and planning - you are more engulfed in it...I get like that sometimes but I make it a point to prioritize and multi-task..If my mind drifts off I just note it and make time later after other things are done to go back to it...This way it allows me to get other things done without loosing site of good ideas, etc for other things..It took some time because I had to teach myself to shut things off and it's ok to give myself grace...I started taking my decor down on Christmas, I was just over it and wanted a clean clear space... I was raised clean clothes, clean house, and the tree stays up until the new year...I took it down this morning and finished tidying up...
    Have a wonderful week Suga

Hey Amanda! After hearing you talk in previous videos about letting you and your house "breathe" by taking down the holiday decor, I decided I wouldn't wait as long to do mine. Accomplished it yesterday and even decluttered some of it just in time for the New Year 😊 I cleaned and did some decluttering in the master bedroom today while watching this. Loving your declutter series, looking forward to new recipes and hoping you do more after dark or even an after dark clean marathon!! I work night shift and staying up late is my norm and I always have your marathons playing to keep me going. What Kyle said to you makes so much sense to me! I will absolutely be tired of a project before actually starting bc I've been doing all the planning for it. Maybe something for me to work on this year!

Well I am trying to get into the New Year. I only have taken what few decorations I had up and still double checking if I missed anything. Never fails I always find something I forgot to pack up. Thank you for the motation today I certainly need it. I honestly didn't feel that Christmas spirit this year it just felt like from Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and the new Year just came and went so fast I really didn't feel it. I felt like I was going through the motions. Thank you Amanda for your calming voice in this video. I will be looking forward to the next one. I am looking forward to seeing what the new year brings to all of us. Have a blessed day. Till the next one.😊
