first week snowboarding, on icy slopes learning basics, eating snow, hurting and bruised. then came fresh snow overnight and the gf takes my of slope, best time of my life. I have never felt so good doing anything, even in Rock climbing when onsighting my pb. I have at 38 found something New for myself that I just absolutely love,

First thing I recommend to do when people are looking to expand their quiver is to get a dedicated pow deck. Pow days don't come around often, make the most of them. Save your legs.
I'm also not a fan of setting my stance back on freestyle boards. I find it feels too weird losing a couple inches off my tail. Again... dedicated pow/party board.
I really like these newer short and wide party boards. They rip pow and are still extremely capable and fun on groomers.
    Another tip... don't do nollies.

This one point cannot be overstated. A proper pow board makes more of a difference than all the other tips combined. If you want to ride steep trees in pow get a shorter volume shifted board like an orca. If you want to just charge open runs the shorter board will handle it but a longer board especially of the swallowtail full rocker variety will do better. Also those boards tend to keep riding further on more mellow grades. And a fresh wax makes all the difference no matter what board you use when you hit those flat spots.

Can’t wait to break my pow board in this season. My first ever experience with pow in CO was exactly as you described. Watching the nose of your board disappear and getting buried is a lot of work. Especially if it happens multiple
Times per run. Will stick to the steeps on my next pow day 🤙 first tracks baby

“Pow will ruin snowboarding for you. You’ll quit your job and leave your family. And chase storms all over the world” Lol! Love that last part! That’s quite true. Riding pow is such a game changer in snowboarding. Just getting the hang of it this season. It’s a LOT OF FUN!!! 😅😊

I have a extra wide directional twin with a set back on it. It works great with a non-set back stance for regular resort riding and set back for deep days. Was a Baker with it two days when there was a massive dump. It was surfy as heck.
I have a split version of this deck for backcountry as well. Soooooo good!

The only time ever that I went to a big mountain, was last year in Austria. By luck there was a pow day, and I couldnt lie when i said that i was the one screaming from happiness! i just somehow learnt how to ride it by the 2nd run, and idk why but there was like at most 40 people on the mountain side(usually 200-400) so it was EMPTY. I got all the fresh pow to myself and enjoyed it so much. Sadly my country has small mountains with extremely rare pow so i dont think ill get to enjoy this feeling again any time soon.

Getting a dedicated freeride/powder board (heavily directional/tapered/set back camber/flat/rockered profile) is an extremely wise thing to do. This will allow you to ride far more centrally stacked with the board doing all the hard work/heavy lifting for you ie minimal rear leg burn. As stated riding epic powder runs will be one of the most memorable experiences you'll have in your life of snowboarding. As an EC Aussie I can tell you that having a competent solid surfing ability will also greatly assist you when riding powder as the turns (rear foot) are very very similar to the floating feeling of smashing out and gliding across foaming lip lines.

I got a fresh pow most of the time downstairs 2 mins walk to the neighborhood park. There is a nice hill with 2 sides. One I would say a green steepness and the other side is blue steepness. It’s not that long only 200 meters runs. I’ve seen kids tobogganing, but they are not coming out anymore. I started using the hill all for me nobody even thought of it.
