This time last year, I had hugged my grandfather for the last time and didn't know it yet. He collapsed in his living room December 12th, we though it must be a stroke, but it was an aneurysm, a ticking time bomb in his brain than was there for who knows how long. There was nothing left of him but a body kept alive by machines. He passed christmas morning and when he left, most of my grandmother went with him. 67 years of marriage and the only thing that has ever separated them has been death. This last year we've watched as she has faded away, still here in body but lost in the past. I'm so thankful for the nearly 40 years of memories I have of them both. I know one day that pictures and memories will all we'll have left
