🇩🇲 More Dominica Videos: • Trying DOMINICA STREET...
After arriving in the village of Calibishie on the northeastern coast of Dominica, I set out with some local cooks and fishmongers to prepare and enjoy an exotic sea urchin dinner at Rainbow Restaurant and Bar!
RAW SEA URCHIN: We headed to the rocky beach, where the sea urchin guy was retrieving them from the water and eating some of them raw. He used a knife to slice it in half, cut off all the spines, and let me try some of it. Then, he also tenderized an octopus against a large rock.
RAINBOW RESTAURANT AND BAR: Our cook, Naz, prepared the sea urchin by sauteeing it with diced peppers, green onion, celery, garlic, parsley, cumin, and green seasoning. It was fantastic! Then, we enjoyed a curry octopus made with coconut milk, celery, onions, garlic, peppers, green seasoning, and herbs. It’s fresh, tasty, and tender. Come to this restaurant for great food and incredible people in Dominica!
STEEL DONKEY: Finally, I met with the bartender, Jordan, invited me to have a Steel Donkey, which is a local cocktail that comes in two glasses: a shot in a glass and a beer in a glass. It was powerful and needed the chaser!

Nice video. The sea urchin shell really makes for nice souvenirs. Calisbishie is also rich in history. Nas was very hospitable and her talking to you, having you taste while asking "isn't that good?" is what normally happens in our home kitchens in Dominica. Cooking is a whole experience. The fresh seasonings is a must have in Dominica, makes the food so tasty. I like this restaurant and I will visit someday soon. The food looks real good. Thanks again David. Thank you Nate also. David I truly appreciate this. Dominica is grateful. God bless you and yours. We love you.

David thankyou very much for sharing your videos of the beautiful Islands of West Indies. In Barbados we called them sea eggs, about 40 or so years ago fisherman, only harvests them i think it was July to September because of overfishing, remember them being a little small in size. Never seen them that large before, most people in the Islands are very welcoming and love to share their experiences and culture. Thankyou again.

David, you are a wild and crazy guy, so adventurous: eating the raw sea urchin. It's still moving: it's ALIVE. Sea urchins are aphrodisiacs, so watch out😋😂. Naz is a good cook but I still can't eat the octopus or the sea urchin, raw or cooked. The food looked delicious. Fresh seafood cooked with all fresh herbs and seasonings. Tasty. "Finish it up baby." I love Naz's friendliness and hospitality. What a nice setting for a restaurant!!! Such warm and nice people. Long ago we used to mix coca cola and beer to make a drink called 'shandy' and I believe that they do sell it bottled now in Trinidad. So David, you have to visit more of the islands to enjoy the type of foods that we have grown up with: all fresh, no leftovers. And, no, I would not eat raw seafood. Good to see Nathan enjoying himself too. Nice job.🤗❤️🇹🇹🇨🇦
