Great tips there. Thanks! I gave up with doing any online ads a couple of years ago and having no effect; too early in the business. Three years on I still don't use ads for the website and I'm finding repeat customers are powering it now. With my products the customer has to experience them and they can't do that on a screen. Once they are happy then they buy from the website. Certainly wasted a fair bit of cash early on better spent else where!
Colabs are great too. Well worth looking at.

Thank you so much Erica for this video. In your opinion, would you think it is feasible for someone to fulfill a wholesale order (Faire or other wholesale customer) if they are also working a 40 hour work week? To be honest, this has been my only drawback in applying. TIA

Hi! I think it really depends on the order size honestly. Most of our orders are on the small side (12-24 candles) so yes I would say that’s do-able!
You may also like wholesale if you are limited on time because you get the order submitted before you make the product. So you aren’t “wasting time” making scents and sizes and waiting for them to sell, you get the list of what to make and when you have time, make them, package and ship!
      I hope that helps :)
Of course, if you end up getting 1 order a day or even a few a week, that may be overwhelming. But you can also adjust your lead time to 30+ days if needed to give you more time!

Erica is spot on. I also work full time, and have a kid/family and time is precious. I too was worried about being overwhelmed. But it has actually been better on Faire because I am making what is selling, don't have a bunch of inventory sitting around, and don't do as many markets, pop ups, etc. So I am actually with my family more and are working smarter. You just have to find the sweet spot between your ordering lead times and keeping the right inventory on hand. But Faire is definitely worth it.

It’s so refreshing to see comments from fellow 9-5ers. I just picked up candle making as a hobby with intentions of making it a business. But time and energy is a struggle right now. I absolutely love the realness Erica brings to this space.

Knowing your conversation rate is so important when growing your D2C business. I would recommend finding a different way to channel your RUclips visitors so they do not skew your rate. In the long run, it will help you and your marketing team make informed decisions based on accurate data.

SEO is everything for long term success. Affiliate marketing is short term and SEO is a long term play. You need both to grow successfully.

Awesome video, Mama! I thought your were selling a much higher quantity of your candles to Faire? I guess that’s just where my mind went. Thank you for the clarification about Faire! Thank you for your video! I would love to see the process of making a sale on Etsy and how you print out your customer’s shipping label? We have the little printer but I have no clue what the process is? Maybe there are other chandlers who are preparing to launch and would like to see the process as well? Also,, how many times do you go to your post office to drop off your candles? Thanks again for your time and energy to help new and maybe not so new chandlers! Much love to you and your family!❤️

Question when starting my candle business should I open a new RUclips channel or can use my preexisting personal RUclips account. I’m not sure which is better for algorithm
