    Thanks so much! I hadn't thought to lubricate the cable before trying to insert it back into the jack housing. Thanks again!

    Hi,can you tell me what is the thickness of the cable 5,6 or 7mm?And is the cable hard stiff and hard to bend or is it fine soft?

    What device are you using to test the cable conneciton? can you recommend some thing easy to use to test my cables? thanks

    • @UOttawaScotty
      @UOttawaScotty  6 лет назад +1

      Yes, absolutely. Just order yourself the cheapest volt meter you can find and use the continuity beeper, easiest way to verify a good connection, use the probes to connect to the different ends of the cables.

    Hello! Good video! Do the circuit breaker cables break very often?? I am wanting to buy one, but my fear is that I will be repairing them every now and then

    • @UOttawaScotty
      @UOttawaScotty  4 года назад +1

      I have a few of them and I like them a lot. If your gigging a lot then you might run into some problems down the road with the portion of cable that directly meets the housing of the jack end, but as you can see in the video, its a super easy fix, just remove the end, cut off the broken section of cable, stick it back in, and fasten the knife set screw, and your back in business. I especially like the circuit breaker ones, its an extremely handy feature.

    • @matiasjorgebollentini3971

      @@UOttawaScotty Thank you for your answer! I agree that it is a handy feature, that is why I was intrigued by them at first. Do you have any opinion about the "American Stage with circuit breaker" cables? If you have and you can compare them both you would do me a big big favour. If not don't worry, you have done a lot already.

    • @UOttawaScotty
      @UOttawaScotty  4 года назад +1

      @@matiasjorgebollentini3971 I have only used the American Stage cable without circuit breaker and I really liked it a lot. I really think their modification of a thicker tip is long overdue, and it's about time a cable company put some good thought into the physical design characteristics of the input jack. I have used all kinds of planet Waves cables over the years, especially the cheaper models, and I have never had a bad experience. If your buying a planet Waves cables, your gonna like it, they make good quality cables and I have never really had any serious issues with any of my Planet Waves stuff. I think it you went with the American Stage with the circuit breaker you would be real happy with that cable.

    I was going to ask what kind of oil but I see from the other comments if spit works then it shouldn’t matter too much right? 😂
    I was planning on finding/getting some three in one household oil

  • @Briansmusic-
    @Briansmusic- 4 года назад +2

    Use spit because oil can become a conductor and may cause hum. Spit will dissipate. Or a light coat of fine graphite.

    • @UOttawaScotty
      @UOttawaScotty  4 года назад

      Oil is used as an insulator in high voltage transformers for it insulating properties. The chances of trace amounts of oil making a conductive path an causing hum in a guitar patch cable is virtually nil. You can safely use a small amount of lubricant of your choice, saliva works too !, in this application and not worry about causing hum.

    You do not have to repair the lines (D Addario) Planet Wave. They are guaranteed for life, just communicate with Planet Wave and they change it as long as it is a fault of the line, if they gave the Jack they send you a new

    • @UOttawaScotty
      @UOttawaScotty  5 лет назад

      This is true, although if you have gigs to play and you need your cables to work, they are dead simple to fix also.

    • @JeromePotaracke

      Mine has an l shape at one end and is broken, so the jack is now separated where it used to be soldered at the L shaped intersect

    I had two of these cables and I really liked them and recommended them to my friends but one got stolen and the on/off button broke on the other one and it’s impossible to fix them yourself the fix the cable part is easy to fix no problem but the switch no way and this lifetime warranty stuff should be communicated to the purchaser better because I was going to switch all my long cables to this but not anymore I absolutely feel ripped off
