  • Hey everyone, welcome back to another Mental Motors video! I've gotten a couple requests for this type of video specifically, and while I was on my way down to Calvo I figured it would be a great time to do it. While these are the top 5 things that were on my mind at that time, I'm interested to hear your thoughts; anything that surprised you? Anything you agree with or disagree with? Comment below!
    P.S. I also want to do a giveaway at 100 subs... comment below some types of ideas for a giveaway/raffle!

    Nice you got the red/black two tone interior. I think that's a GTS only option. I have the same thing but black/tan.

      Good choice! I love the tan options in these cars

    IMO the viper is one of the only cars that make a good driver look foolish and a great driver look legendary. There’s a fine line there.

    I was prepared to buy a gen 5 until I sat in one. Found the seating position really bad and no where to rest my left foot when off the clutch. I'd clip the clutch when trying to use the tiny dead pedal. And I'm not a big guy either. 5'9" and 150 lbs with size 10.5 shoe. Was very bummed.

      Definitely a hard thing to get used to for sure

    One other thing...I was trying to see if you were using your cruise control so I was listening to the exhaust note and the movement of the camera and the positioning of your right thumb and my best guess is that you were not using your cruise control...at least for the most part. Are my assumptions at all accurate? And if you were not using your cruise, any particular reason why not or was it just because you were recording?

      For the most part I was not using it, correct. I just enjoy the more analog control feeling quite frankly. I altered between using it and not using it when I got bored on my trip to Calvo Motorsports (the time this video was filmed)

    It sounds like a dump truck when it gets cammed. The exhaust certainly needs be changed for restriction release and heat. The 18 speaker should be better quality. Infotainment screen is not great. But I love the car, it's incredible. Fast, exotic looks, attention it gets on the road.

      Love your perspective Tommy, thanks! Definitely agree, it’s one of a kind

    I've never found the actual body panel to burn on contact; only after say running a few errands in hot weather is it ever uncomfortable to touch the door sill. If you have the actual pipe protruding however, well you're kinda asking for an actual burn...

      Do you run an aftermarket exhaust?

      @@mentalmotors935 no not yet, I still have all 4 cats under there 😮‍💨 Soon though! 😁 gonna start with a secondary cat delete pipes and see how I like it. After the car gets hot then stops and has time to heat soak the bodywork is when it's worst but I never found the body to burn on contact. The screw heads get too hot to hold but I've only ever been bitten when I had the rocker panels off for some other stuff. Touched the tip for but a moment and had a mark on my shin 😅

    My 2014 Viper GTS has 355's in back, not 345's as stated in the video.

    • @mentalmotors935
      @mentalmotors935  2 года назад

      Yes correct, OEM is 355 but I swapped to a far stickier R888r, and it's widest 19" is a 345. TBH when I put the two next to each other, they were literally the same size; I believe there is variability in side wide construction that effects overall width dimensions. Either way, massive footprint!

    I don't get the tractor thing... but maybe I don't play with enough tractors. Is it the factory lopey idle?

    • @mentalmotors935
      @mentalmotors935  2 года назад +1

      As someone who grew up on a farm and around more tractors than most I can kind of agree that it’s a pretty accurate description 😂 I think it’s definitely both the lopey idle but also frankly just the note itself

      @@mentalmotors935 yeah fair enough 😅 You do have to get pretty high in the revs, but that V10 wail does come through eventually though. And hey, Feruccio Lamborghini started with tractors so there's that.
