- In this video I attend a coin show with coin experts and learn many different coin show tips and coin collecting tips as well. The coin shop experts from Harry's Coin Shop helped me to get some good deals at the coin show. I have only ever been to one coin show before. One of the Booths at the coin show was the coin shop that Richard used to work at before he started working at Harry's Coin Shop. If you are wanting to go to a coin show then this is the video for you. Coin shows can be a great place to learn about coins and get good deals on coins including silver and gold coins as well. Glad you were able to record at the coin show. I did that a while back and almost got thrown out of there. One of the vendors was saying that I was recording him so I could come back and steal from him later. The guy was a jerk. Security made me delete the video from my phone. Needless to say, I have never purchased from that vendor. He is at almost all the local coin shows but won't be getting my business. I guess I am fortunate that I don't need to fly anywhere to go to coin shows. They have one almost every weekend (about 40-50 tables) and then twice a year they have a huge one with lots of vendors. I film anywhere the public is allowed. Some venues are able to restrict filming inside.

@@NOTurbuisness-r5q there's a pretty big difference between filming a person without their permission in a private space versus filming their stuff. but the vendor claiming it was so op could steal makes me suspicious of the vendor, personally.

Really great video pal! I’ve been wanting to go to a big coin show, but haven’t had the chance yet. Work usually prevents me from doing anything like that going to a coin show with you and the gang from Harry’s coin shop would be a blast.

I'm fairly new to the collecting side of things after having hoarded the statehood series. I went to my first show a little over a month ago, and one thing bothered me. I couldn't see the coins in many of the cases because my eyes just aren't that good anymore and most displays weren't very accommodating (the dealers were, I had no issues getting helped). I think many dealers could benefit from a different display system. Just a thought.

Never have been to a coin show- lots to learn. Still trying to figure out pm’s and what moves to make. Need a pocket pinger or another affordable way to verify

Seems to me that these shows are cool to attend but to buy hasn't been too good for me. Not very many of the sellers are interested in deals, when you ask for a price they go directly to that pricing guide book they use. I have better luck getting better prices at my local coin shop.

Love the idea of a treasure hunt.
When I was at high school the local market had a stamp stall with a big box of miscellaneous stamps. You could spend minutes or many, searching through for the rare gem, e.g. a penny red (i.e. a Victorian 1d stamp with clipped edges). Nowadays I like to visit a collectable store and root through their boxes of pre-decimal coins, especially the Victorian pennies, ha'pennies and once in a while farthings. Seeing any definition on a Victorian farthing is rare unless you want to pay big money. I'm happy to pay £1 for 5 Victorian penny coins.

I’m in that candy stage and it’s lasted about year or more and isn’t letting up lol. We just got the once bar and 1/10 my wife and I both bought on Whatnot from Harry’s. Their whatnot and another out of New Jersey have been my go to. I’m trying to collect every year of the Silver Eagles that are graded and I’m having a blast doing it. I’m trying to get my teenage daughters into coins and silver.

I have the same fear of coins not being worth anything in the next couple decades. Granted they will always be worth the metal value, how will the numismatic values be affected?

The downfall of collecting coins is the same that killed collecting stamps: The younger generation didn't grow up on them.
People tend to collect things that they were comon with in their youth, whether it be some specific toys, vinyl, sports memorabilia or coins in this matter. Just look at things like retro games or sneakers that have seen a surge in being collected the last decade for the simple reason it was that that had them interested in their younger years and grew up on.
At least silver and gold still has value as a metal in the end, but yeah the question remains who will you sell it to and will there even be a market in the future for things you are currently collecting ...
