you can upgrade 1 of the RAM sticks (the other is soldered) and that appears to be an empty HD caddy they remove near the end, so you can add a 2.5" drive in addition to the M.2 drive that comes pre-installed.
@4TEEN I've already seen some laptops having weird compatibility issues with specific sticks but it's rare nowadays and in as far as the specs go you should be fine. A quick Google / call to support to check whether or not the specific stick you're planning on buying has any issues would be good but bare something unforeseen you should be fine. DISCLAIMER: I do NOT endorse upgrading it while still under warranty... it's not worth it.
@@echthroi9 I actually ended up doing it with the battery intact, just made sure the laptop was completely off. Like others have said, took a little while on the first boot but now I've got 20gb RAM instead of 8! Love it

Keyboard cable and orange cable next to it connected to motherboard won't come off. Although I am using the same tool and technique Lenovo is using in their video but it won't work. I will be grateful for any help or trick.

Plug it into the wall with the included adapter to charge it. If you are worried about ruining the battery by having it plugged in, there is an option in the Lenovo Vantage application to make it only charge to 50%.
@@LazorVideosDestruction was not aware of this, my battery has failed after 3 months, warranty is a return to uk and then to germany as the uk has NO service centres. Battery removal was easy and I have a 54 piece screwdriver set, so was just a matter of looking for a piece that fitted :)
Steve Liddle Yes, I took mine apart earlier to replace the hard drive, and noticed the infamous sweet smell coming from the battery, the sort of eggnog smell, which is a sign that the battery lost it’s seal and is leaking. My battery hasn’t gone to crap yet but I expect it to shortly. I’m hoping I can get Lenovo to ship me another battery, otherwise I will have to resort to eBay.

I just ran a 5 minute CPU stress test with intel xtu (CPU under 100% load). For the first minute, the CPU was in the low to mid 90's, peaking at 96. Then for the last 4 minutes, the temperature slowly dropped from 90, to 80, and then to 70. I'd say peaking at 96 Celsius under max load is normal. However, the temperature should go down overtime after the fans kick in and begin drawing heat off of the core. If reaching 96 bothers you, I think you can go into the bios and change the max fan speed to 100%, but I don't think it's necessary to do this or apply new thermal paste. But, doing both of these could probably bring down the peak temperature a couple degrees. (By the way, all units are in Celsius)
This is why you're supposed to keep track of where each screw goes. What I do is place each screw I remove in the same pattern as the screw holes on whatever laptop I'm opening up.
They're black so they can blend in and not be seen through the vents slots on the bottom. The color addition doesn't change the thermal properties at all
That silver, rectangular bracket in the lower-left looks like a retaining bracket for a 1.8" HDD. The black plastic strip between it and the PCIe SSD appears to be a SATA connector...
Sadly the pre-installed memory runs at 2400 and any kit you add will stick to that speed too. Unless you found some hidden BIOS setting which lets you overclock RAM, in which case, power to you.
save yourself the trouble and dont buy a Lenovo after the 300 series they just went downhill and the bottom panel doesnt come off that easily you have to find a way to pry it off its put on really tight.

I don't know what's more upsetting, the fact that there's only one channel, or me mistkenly thinking the dual-channel ram I have laying around would fit in there.
You could try with an external GPU using the USB type-c port. There are many videos out there covering this subject. Some work better than others, but with this processing power it would be a good candidate to try. Keep in mind, you would still not get "desktop level performance" even if it works.
Yeah you can kinda. If you have a desktop graphics card and power supply you can use this gpu on your laptop. You need to first buy a pcie to mini-pcie converter, you can probably find one on aliexpress or newegg. Then you go into your laptop, unplug the wifi chip from which is currently occupying the mini pcie slot, and then plug in the converter. You would also need a wireless usb wifi plug in order to get wifi, since you are unplugging the wifi chip. Then you need to install drivers and stuff for the desktop gpu. I think this should work.
@@ArseniiKorolev I'm sure. I have this one type lenovo. In bios, u can sett the GPU memory for 2gb(i recommend this). Cause 4+16=20gb-(2gb gpu memory) you have 18gb on system. But you must carefully for choosing the RAM module..
@@ArseniiKorolev ram module showing 2400mhz in task manager. But actually, lenovo as the manufacturer of mainboard, they choose to install 2666mhz ram chip.. So if you buy and install 2400mhz ram module, I assume it won't work properly.. It's have to run with same clockspeed.. I forgot about the onboard memory module, If I not wrong it's use chip module from Micron something.. I recommend team elite 2666mhz , or adata 2666mhz . It work for me and of course it's cheap..

The service manual says to remove the battery but I agree, it seems like you could just unplug the cable while replacing the RAM.

Can you slap on a 8gb 3200 ram stick and expect it to run at 3200. Ryzen loves its ram speed, i wouldnt want to scale down to 2600.
