    Don't know why but I've been waiting on this review from you. Thank you. You've gotten me into Salomon shoes. I bought the original Salomon Ultra Glide 1's because of your review

    I got some Senseride 4, I quite enjoy them as it goes.

    You're correct, because of the shallow 3,5mm lugs on lots of Salomon shoes lately, it's quite difficult to separate the intended use of them. Sure, the UG has more cushion, the Pulsar Trail has a plate, etc. But in the end the similar outsole limits them all in my opinion, more or less all shoes for dryer more rolling stuff...Anyway, If the SR5 comes closer to the Original it's a good thing, as those were perfect for the intended use. I just dumped the SR3 as it was just not right, lots of better rolling shoes, lots of better in technical, etc., so the SR3 was more of a holiday shoe, you can run, wear it for everything else...and first, at least once :)

      To me it feels odd saying that a softer foam brings them closer to the original. The original Sense Ride had a VERY firn midsole. (I still have a pair I use from time to time!)

    I enjoyed the sense ride 4. I used them in many ultras only thing missing is more cushion when your pushing the pace down hill wasn’t so forgiving

      💯 agree with that, I got probably 700 miles on my last pair of sense ride 4s and i had to replace them because of the lack of padding in the front witch started to hurt my feet

    • @damianreid2452
      @damianreid2452 Год назад

      I replaced the insoles in mine with Enertor PX1 insoles. Gives a snugger fit and the shoe weighs a bit more but overall you get just about the right amount of cushion I reckon.

  • @Dinckelburg
    @Dinckelburg Год назад

    I bought these shoes because i needed a pair that would be good on grass, gravel and tarmac. I was running a hilly 50 mile race that I'd done before in shoes with quite aggressive lugs and that was a big mistake on the paved sections of the course. I live in the city and often run from my home to the trails so this shoe is good for my needs

  • @NicolasCaron
    @NicolasCaron Год назад +1

    When you say that the SR5 and UG2 feel similar, that was my exact concern with the move to energy foam for the Sense Ride line. Since it's first version, the sense ride was a firmer shoe that made you feel connected to technical trails allowing you to move nimbly and quickly. Not convinced it really stands out enough to have a place in the quiver now.

    I like Salomon for shorter distances. I find the quick lace system doesn't work as I have a wide forefoot. I like to heel lock with a loop on most shoes but without over tightening the fore foot. Cant do that on Salomon, I have to lace super tight to lock the heel with quick lace and then I get forefoot pains if I run for more than 20 miles in them.
    Good to see some additional cushioning though, the sense ride 4 are hard as nails.
    Wish they'd make the quick lace system optional.

    I only really used my 4s for casual use as felt they were a bit too padded and ran warm. As with other Salomons I've tried the outsole performed poorly in the wet or on smoother surfaces and wore through quickly on asphalt/paving. That said I like the convenience of the speed lace...

      @@ianlowe4126 I got the Ultra Glide V1 also but it's apart of my trail rotation so they are lasting a bit longer so i haven't had deterioration yet. Loyd has turned me into a Salomon & Saucony Fan. I would go Sense Ride 5 to cover most of what the Glide would cover with a bit of a more comfortable upper. If you want more ruggedness with a runnable frame then I would skip the Ride TR and the Peregrine and go for the Xodus. The Saucony Xodus or Xodus 2 and Salomon Sense Ride 5 are a good Two Shoe Trail combo 👌.

    I would immediately shut up and give them my money if they released sense pro 5 with toebox compatible with a straight big toe!
    Pro version would have lower drop and softer more pliable midsole and more minimalist upper just like the previous version had.
