What I like about the DJI Mini is that they give firmware updates as often as possible thereby improving the drone itself. And from time to time DJI adds in new functions on the mini 2 as well!
Joseph Bruce it doesn’t have precision landing. It lands roughly where it should of course but precision landing is the ability to land on a landing pad that it recognises. It’s a useful feature.
Eric Harris ha ha yes mostly but I don’t really understand why people don’t want a feature. If it’s useful to you great. If it’s not then fine but no reason not to have it. Personally I find it useful in circumstances where you have longish grass as I’ve said previously. You can always cancel it and manually land but it is a helpful feature. If we were discussing the Air 2S I expect it would be a feature that would be talked about if it was missed out. The thing is that now Mini drones will be very popular due to legislation so those more advanced features are becoming more required on them as people don’t want the hassle of using larger drones. I think in time the Mini drones will be able to do everything the larger drones can do up to a point of course.
@@StevesDrones I'm hoping active track update will come as a result of this sort of competition which is great! As for precision landing, it's not needed if you hand launch and land neither is the landing pad even though I wasted money on one that's never been used.

No bias. I absolutely love my mini 2 and would advise anyone to get one. I just liked the Fimi video overall. I think it all comes down to the weather and lighting etc.
Steve I noticed in your previous video when you were calibrating you were spinning the Drone counter-clockwise. The picture in the app was showing it spinning clockwise. Based on the 3 Fimi Drones I have, if it doesn't calibrate in 3 turns, try spinning in opposite direction. Works every time for me on my A3 and also the 2 X8SE drones. Try it!

My A3 has never had the slightest horizon skewed issue. X8SE? Incurable. And I've tried every calibration including the 2 in maintenance for drone and gimbal that Fimi unlocked for me. Gimbal on X8 Mini looks more like A3 (pitch axis is attached at both sides vs. one.) So I'm hopeful. Delivery expected this week!

PD Tech yes the Fimi has waypoints too of course. I tested it in the previous video. It’s not something I go crazy for but it’s good to have it and it’s annoying DJI won’t give you it in the Mini 2 or even the Air drones. I hope this pushes to add it but I don’t think they will. Lower cost drones have had it for ages and it hasn’t changed their position yet.
I get why everyone wants the DJI mini the company has a great product. The Fimi mini is just another option. I was so impressed by the original Fimi I purchased one and I will most likely purchase the fimi mini. What range have you've been getting Steven ? Gr8 video review Steve as always
Both drones were great in my opinion. Now there’s the dji mini 3 pro which I would have bought if I could afford it! But really for my needs the dji mini 2 or Fimi mini pro is all I need. It came down to price and features, and what was included in the box for me. And I ended up getting the Fimi Mini Pro with backpack extra props, 2 pro batteries, and charging cable, and cables to plug phone in, for $399. Which is 1/3 the price of the dji mini 3. So perhaps the dji is more top of the line. But like I said for my needs it’s all I need! Not planning on making a carrier in movie making, just home videos to enjoy from places we visit.
I think if you’re just going for family videos I’d go for a Mini 2. They are very reliable and quick to get out and flying when out and about. If your budget stretches then the Mini 3 Pro is similar if you get the pro remote with it. No need to setup your phone. Very easy to get flying on a family day out.
To me the FIMI's video looked too much on the green side when side by side, while the DJI looked more natural. I liked the HDR mode, where the white wasn't that easily saturated. In think the FIMI is a real competitor to the DJI, I love the SW features of the FIMI which DJI seems to not implement because of "political" model strategy. I wish the Mini2 would have a flight plan mode and a follow me, but though the RTH precision is not possible with the DJI, it is way more stable when you park it on a spot. Though I have never seen something like you just displayed, that because of wind from the side the horizon is off and it looses its direction. Maybe this is because above a certain wind speed I am not even trying to fly it, I find it too risky. But thanks so much for the comparison, I was always very curious and I am glad FIMI is a serious competitor to DJI, which is always good for a healthy market, progressive product development and consumer friendly prices.
Yeah I think it’s just the reliability of the Fimi production. Definitely good software features as you say though and nice to have competition in the mini drone market.
Thanks, Steve me I prefer the Fimi picture quality I have the Fimi Palm that too is brilliant I fly the DJI Mavic air 2 brilliant drone but I am seriously looking at the Fimi mini but I will wait for the Hubsan Mini.
Yeah I think that’s a wise decision. It looks a great drone on paper so hopefully it will be all that’s promised. Hopefully we can find out where to order it from too lol.
Drone guy 2020 yes I’ve got that drone too. I’ve done many videos on it and it’s tilted horizon is legendary but I don’t think this is the case with the new drone. I’ve got a new video coming out shortly where I don’t think we see the tilt issue. I was referring to the Mini 2 also looking tilted in this video but of course it’s the UK seaside so pretty much anything looks tilted lol. Sorry I wasn’t very clear in my comment.
good comparison, even so, it is only able to compete with the DJI MINI 2 when connected the HDR in image aspect.. my opinion they already did a long range test, and the result was "3000 meters and back to the base we are running out of battery" .... opssss xD
That doesn’t sound very far. I would have expected further. I got over 1km down the beach and it still felt good but I guess 3 km is a different story.
As I have watched every fimi mini video on RUclips they all have a small gimbal shake Yours doesn't show much ,but it's there. I just saw one today from the USA, and his is very noticeable. Another thing is that all of the real videos like yours, there is a lot of over sharpness in every video, fimi needs to turn down the digital sharpness real bad. These or the only 2 negatives of this drone. Hopefully they can fix theses issues in a firmware update.
Yes I think you are talking about Marcus’ (Idaho Quadcopter). A great channel. I never the gimbal shake in mine. I’ll have to study the footage carefully to see if I just missed it. From what I gather these sort of issues appeared in the X8 SE and were fixed early on so let’s hope so for this one too.
Nice comparison of the DJI Mini and the FIMI X8 Mini. They have a lot of the same features. Video quality is close between the DJI Mini and the FIMI X8 Mini. Nice soundtrack.
Dji have much better camera quality when is about light. Pictures from Xiaomi looks overbrighted in the center and little dark on sides. HDR helpef xiaomi a little, but still Dji have much better light exposure without HDR. However details looks preety much the same on both. I dont know if you have noticed it, but Xiaomi doing better with objects like houses when it's turnung - picture looks more smooth, Dji looks like it have 10fps when turning.
Yeah I think you’re right. I think if your budget stretches to a Mini 2 you should probably go for that but that comes with less features so really the Fimi is for those on a tight budget or wanting active track and precision landing etc. The camera does seem to be better overall on the Mini 2 and also I’ve had issues with mine fogging and DJI have better quality control in this regard.
I'm stuck now, I don't know which one to buy,i was going to get the mavic mini 🤔 but the fimi, the fiiiimiiiii its another great drone and I'm going crazy 😜 I don't know which one to get HELP ME GUYS HELP ME .
I think the Fimi is risky at the moment what with the issues that people have been having. I saw issues with my compass and fogging in my camera lens. I think there is a video on how to add shielding which may sort the compass and I guess re-sealing the lens cover may stop the fogging but these are issues you don’t want to be sorting really. I’d hang on to see how the Zino Mini Pro goes but if you can’t wait a Mini 1 or 2 would be a more reliable option.
@@alanjm1234 might just be that the wind was stronger then. I’ve seen lots of other videos with the horizon level. I don’t think the design of the gimbal has the same flaw as the X8 SE 2020. It is supported from both sides rather than supported on one side. Not saying the Mini 2 isn’t the overall better drone though as I think it is higher quality overall.
Competing fimi mini with dji mini 2 is an unfair comparison, comparing fimi mini with dji mini se is a fair competition since fimi mini price group is around mavic se while mini 2 is fair competition for zino mini pro since it's belongs to same price range
I’m sorry I don’t agree. The specs of the Fimi include 4K video which compares with the Mini 2. Ok it has vignetting but that’s irrelevant to the specs. That’s why we do reviews to see whether there are issues. It has smart tracking which goes above the Mini 2 and Mini 1 features and works well. It has a choice of batteries now. One being comparable with the Mini 2 battery. It has precision landing a feature that works and is more than the Mini 2 offers. It’s definitely valid to put this up against the Mini 2 as on paper it should be better than it and to be honest apart from vignetting mine was at first. It has since had issues with fogging so that’s a bit of a killer for me. These are why we do reviews though so someone can make a decision but based on specs they are competitors and in the end I’d say get a Mini 2 as you will get an overall better drone but you will still be missing some features this drone has over it. If those issues can be fixed this would be the better drone but it remains to be seen if that can or will be done.
Definitely don't buy the fimi x8 mini, my guaranteed device has malfunctioned and it blames the user and doesn't make repairs or changes. After the new updates of the drone, the image quality deteriorated very much, I wrote this down, I sent the black box to fimi, they told me that I had an accident and there would be no change in the repair. I said I definitely didn't have an accident, but they didn't make a turn. DO NOT BUY fimi x8 mini IF THE DEVICE MALFUNCTIONS, THEY DO NOT MAKE REPAIRS.
@@StevesDrones yes but the gimbal should compensate for the drone tilting while fighting the wind, that is his job. Do the settings have a manual adjustment of the horizon?
Mini 2 is a great drone and probably wins overall when you consider more than video quality but it’s missing a few features the Fimi has such as smart tracking, precision landing and waypoints.

It’s not something I go crazy for but it’s good to have it and it’s annoying DJI won’t give you it in the Mini 2 or even the Air drones. I hope this pushes to add it but I don’t think they will. Lower cost drones have had it for ages and it hasn’t changed their position yet.
Tilt Gimbal problems like x8 se 2020 or it's really the wind?
It does seem that way unfortunately.
I get why everyone wants the DJI mini the company has a great product. The Fimi mini is just another option. I was so impressed by the original Fimi I purchased one and I will most likely purchase the fimi mini. What range have you've been getting Steven ? Gr8 video review Steve as always
It managed to go just over a km up he beach without any FPV break up. I suspect it could go further.
Finally genuine video, thanks :)
You’re welcome. Thanks for watching.
The tilted horizon is terrible on the Fimi, but the image quality looks good. I still think the image quality is better on the mini 2. Good test👌
It doesn’t look tilted in the follow up video. I think it was just quite windy.
Have you check battery life beetween dji mini and fimi mini ?
Not scientifically but I would say it felt like the Mini 2 was slightly better in this video.
Anyone know where you can buy fimi mini in UK ?
As far as I’m aware it’s not available in the UK. You have to order from China.
try flying over the sea as long as.
You first lol
Such a shame this drone has been released over the 250g mark. As a fimi x8se 2020 owner I would have bought this day one if it was sub 250.
Yea definitely. I hope we see the pro battery soon.
I don't like that camera tilt that's bad. Good video.👍👍👍👍
You don’t really the same issue in my latest video.
Good video keep going
Where is the water?
It's the North Sea at Cleethorpes which is on the north east coast of the UK.
I see the Fimi is still plagued with tilted horizon just like it’s larger brother
I’m not sure I saw the same on both drones. I think as well I’ve seen the Fimi non tilted since that video.
@@StevesDrones I had the X8 2020 and it regularly had tilted horizon in the footage
Sorry I wasn’t very clear in my comment.
good comparison, even so, it is only able to compete with the DJI MINI 2 when connected the HDR in image aspect.. my opinion
they already did a long range test, and the result was "3000 meters and back to the base we are running out of battery" .... opssss xD
That doesn’t sound very far. I would have expected further. I got over 1km down the beach and it still felt good but I guess 3 km is a different story.
@@StevesDrones is another user review of your competitor on youtube .. eheheh
Thanks very much
do fimi battery test
I think someone has already done a hover test video somewhere. For me it feels like a waste of a battery and you only get one lol.
I’d hang on to see how the Zino Mini Pro goes but if you can’t wait a Mini 1 or 2 would be a more reliable option.
dobra robota
Weird man. Looks like there is a torch light in the middle with fimi
Yes a lot of people are saying that.
отличный обзор и сравнение
Большое спасибо
That tilted horizon on the Fimi is disappointing.
I don’t think it’s very tilted to be honest. I think it’s strong winds in this video.
@@StevesDrones certainly more tilted than the Mini's.
Indonesia is here listening ........ cool sir I like it
Thanks very much. Appreciate that.
Good test man, I like the fimi more, but fimi need to let us adjust the gimbal while in flight and this would be a awesome little drone.
That would be a cool feature to add.
Competing fimi mini with dji mini 2 is an unfair comparison, comparing fimi mini with dji mini se is a fair competition since fimi mini price group is around mavic se while mini 2 is fair competition for zino mini pro since it's belongs to same price range
The Mini SE wasn’t around at the time of this video. Fimi positioned this drone as a competitor to the Mini 2.
@@StevesDrones i know but fimi mini is comparable to mini 1
I am already following you too
Thanks very much
nice movie my friend :)
super Like
Thanks very much
Fimi lebih mantap
Saya rasa saya lebih suka kualitas video Fimi juga.
@@StevesDronesmantap real 4K HDR dan fitur berlimpah
Vignette, dark corners
Yeah it would nice if this can be fixed.
That’s not good to hear and thanks for sharing with us you’re experience as it helps others greatly.
the better the fimi 8 the much better
It’s certainly a good drone for the money and I’m hearing a lot of the first batch issues have now been addressed.
that horizon ...omg ......annoying ! and so the vignette.
It’s not helped by the wind on the day.
@@StevesDrones yes but the gimbal should compensate for the drone tilting while fighting the wind, that is his job. Do the settings have a manual adjustment of the horizon?
GeekOn both drones did the same though. There will be a limit to how much it can compensate I guess.
@@StevesDrones check the gimbal settings on the mini 😃
GeekOn yeah it’s possible my customisations have affected it inadvertently.
The Mini 2 wins
Mini 2 is a great drone and probably wins overall when you consider more than video quality but it’s missing a few features the Fimi has such as smart tracking, precision landing and waypoints.
The Fimi is over 249g, so it doesn't compete with the mini 2.
Yes not without the pro battery which is yet to be released.
@@StevesDrones Why the hell release it until it's available? Mad decision
Nick Horton I think they were desperate to get sales ahead of the Zino Mini Pro from Hubsan that looks on paper to have better specs than the Mini 2.
Offcouse the winner is dji mini 2.
Fimi mini looks like a Hubsan.
I suppose it does a little. At least a cross between that and DJI.
give me my Fimi X8 mini i like it .
I will get this done today.
thank for your video.
You’re welcome.
Don`t buy the FIMI mini! Too many problems.
horizon is bad
It was quite windy that day. I think both drones showed the same symptoms. I would say the Mini 2 struggled more with the wind though weirdly.
Fimi is much better
It’s certainly a good drone so far but with some little niggles which might just be mine but it’s certainly very good for the price.
Finally genuine video, thanks :)
