so much sadder when you realize that the old Wizard was Ozpin himself and that this was shortly after his four children died to Salem and their kingdom crumbled
It looks to me that the Maidens reminded him of his daughters. And the magical gifts he bestowed upon them was some sort of attempt to bring his children back.
This is honestly such a lovely fairy tale. And the _music,_ my god. Alex Abraham created one of the most, if not _the_ most, beautiful melodies in the entire series.
Emerald: I can alter anyone's mental state to make them hallucinate anything. Yang: I can build up damage taken to me and release it back at enemies. Hazel: I can negate the feeling of pain to go all out in a fight. Maidens: Hehe biggy swords and frozen leaves
It would make so much sense If the Maidens had a Much more OP powers like...Idk....Reality Warping at some extend, at least that would be make them different than a normal semblance
I feel like it has more to do with them not exactly being able to hone their new powers fully before they get it stolen, like the fall maiden when cinder and co fought her was mixing and matching shit but still got rocked. and I wonder if the fall powers have more to do with wind than leaves.
This is so sweet and sad. After watching the events of season 6 and learning that ozma had 4 daughters and to be taken away by his once loving wife, he must have absolutely destroyed him. During one of his reincarnation, these sisters came to his home, and it reminded him so much of his daughters.
Ironically, by bestowing the sisters with these magical gifts, he unintentionally painted targets on their backs. He completely forgot to put safeguards on the powers to prevent them from falling into the wrong hands.
Taiyang Xiao Long I feel like Magic is bound to something that is living, though dust has some properties of magic. Penny is 100% Synthetic, but using Pietro’s Aura. So most people assume she has no soul. But now with the Maiden Powers bound to her being, she’s becoming her own Women/Android
Just because she thinks herself to be a woman does not mean she is she is man made and magic is natural she should not and cant have magic unless they retcon it again.
Spring is like "yeah im in your garden planting seeds and such. You dont like it, come outside and make me old man". Winter-tranquility Spring-rebirth Summer-exhilaration and harvest Fall-contemplation I get the feeling that is why Ozpin is low key favorable toward RWBY. They all carry characteristics similar to the original maidens and of his daughters.
Awwwww, Spring is so sweet! She looks so nice! She even reminds me of Ruby! So happy and cheerful, sometimes oblivious, but she’s such a great person! I love this fairytale! I can also listen to Ozpin narrate books, his voice is great.
@@jeremyjones9467 Eh, debatable. I personally think, after the low point of Volume 5, the show has been getting better and better, to the point where this current Volume could surpass even Volume 3. I do think a lot of what what made Volumes 4 and especially 5 so weak, though, was the focus on extra stuff; Volume 4 had _eight_ WoRs and a character short (In addition to being weighed down by the shift to Maya and the change in story setting), and Volume 5 had no less than _three_ fully-animated shorts, which had to have eaten _substantially_ into the budget, and it shows in the Battle of Haven. Volume 6, by contrast, only had the one character short, and that was only to alleviate complaints about Sienna, and get people hyped for Adam again after his poor showing in V5, while most of the focus and budget went into the Volume itself. Volume 7 does away with extra stuff entirely, focusing exclusively on the episodes themselves, and it shows, being my third and second favorite Volumes respectively, and if Volume 8 (Which, again, isn't doing any extra stuff) follows up well enough on the setup in V7, it could overtake even V3 as my absolute favorite.
You can control wood since each season has an element associated with it from Wuxing Winter - Water Summer - Fire and Earth Fall - Metal and Air Spring - Wood
I swear that this series finale must be with team RWBY obtaining the Four Maidens powers, for protection of the world of Remnant. Ruby - Spring Weiss - Winter Blake - Fall Yang - Summer It just fits. If not, I riot.
So because everyone else seem to be confused: Penny: The only thing one needs to be a maiden is a young female aura as far as we know. And Penny has that. She’s a robot, and she got her aura’s start from Pietro but it’s clear that the implications are that Penny has her own soul. It seems like aura thus is more self determinant. Penny is a real girl, partially because she knows that she is. So, she can be a maiden.

Honestly I'd be wondering WTF Salem was doing during that time. You'd think if she was unopposed she would have won. The only thing that makes sense is a 'Joker when Batman dies' situation. The line 'without him, crime has no punchline' comes to mind. Not a lot of motivation for Salem to get on with it I surmise.

His daughters weren't the maidens - They were full magic users. The Maidens only have partial magic. At most, his daughters were the inspiration for the maidens, not the maidens themselves.
@@symonsan It's not a matter of belief, lol. They died. Nothing at all suggests they're reincarnations, especially when there is zero of their original personalities involved. The Maiden fairy tale makes the most sense to be true. He gave out his power, hence why he's much weaker than he used to be - plus those OG maidens died and their power passed on and started the cycle. That's the idea that has the most evidence.
I wish they made an anime where they got all their jokes from Achievement Hunter Let's Play's. I know there was one joke from AH in RWBY where Yang said, "The gang's all here , so we can all die together". I want more of that.

So far more or less than half of the Fairy Tales of Remnant we've learned about have been revealed to be based on real events. Along with their happy and unhappy truths as RWBY progress's. First, the Silver Eye-Warriors in "End of the Beginning" where Qrow explains to Ruby about the legendary lineage both she and her mum (Summer) descend from. Second, "The Tale of the Two Brothers" in "A Much Needed Talk" where Qrow tells Ruby, Jaune, Ren and Nora about the existence of the Gods and how they created both humanity and the Grimm. Third, "The Story of The Seasons" in "Rest and Resolutions" where Ozpin reveals himself as the old hermit who gave a huge amount of his magic to the first Maidens. Fourth, "The Girl in The Tower" and the "White Witch in the Woods" where in "The Lost Fable", Djinn reveals to Team RWBY the origin of Salem and Ozpin, what happened to them and how the war between them started. Five, "The Girl Who Fell Through the World" where throughout the whole of Volume 9, Team RWBY learn bit by bit the truth about Alyx, her death at the paws of the villainous Curious Cat, her brother Lewis, the Rusted Knight (Jaune) and the origins of the Gods. Ask yourselves, which fairy tales and their truths do you think will be revealed next when Volume 10 comes out?

Anyone else think that at the end of the series Ruby,Wiess,Blake and Yang will become the maidens 🤔 Also I'm loving this little miny series that's going on aswell as Oz's little documentary
The writers already confirmed that they're not doing that. It would be too predictable and pandering to a fanbase would make a story bland and boring. Best to let the writers do what they want and leave us on the edge of our seats.
After what people are criticizing about in the last few Volumes, my only wish is for RT to come up with a way to have any of those mistakes to have some reasonable pay offs regardless of how many episodes it will have to do so!
D File even if some of the criticism are actual facts that are pointed out that RT was dishing out some Political references, even Jacques didn’t have a good payoff as an actual antagonist.
Wait, the sisters weren't magical already? How did the weather change each time one would show up? Spring had plants growing and the temperature drastically change before the old man could wake up from sleeping. =o
Fairy Tales aren't known to be bound to our world's rules. I wouldn't look too much into every detail shown within this as a 100% accurate depiction of how the first four Maidens came to be
Myths are based on actual events...but they do not mirror reality. Considering that RWBY's world was sculpted by a pair of liars, I would take any lore with a grain of salt.
No where in the story does it say the weather changed, so for all we know it didn't and that was just an artistic choice to represent the maidens. Or, because it's a fairy tale in a fictional word told by a liar who has lived for a good few hundred years, the details might be a bit muddy.
So does anyone else think that this story is going to be very relevant for volume 9? As in that Team RWBY got dropped into the past/hidden place and become the original maidens? Weiss is Winter (personality) Ruby is Spring (personality) Yang is Summer (posture) Blake is Fall (compare her hair) Though I have no idea how Neo and Jaune will fit here… plus all the random people cinder blew off the walkway…
You know Ozma should’ve put in better conditions for Maiden’s powers if they were to be stolen or was passed down to someone with evil in their hearts. If he could.
Actually, maiden conditions are perfect if you think about it. Ozpin already made the mistake of judging who is good and who is evil once. Another important thing is that since he doesn't trust his own judgement, he cannot wield his massive power again. Finally, Salem is also absolutely out of the question to be a recipient for the powers. In the end he created a system where neither him nor Salem could ever get the powers (Ozpin can never become a woman and Salem can never become young). By making that only young women can inherit these powers, it already weeds out a lot of bad people (the show is filled with young women and only two could ever be described as evil), but is still neutral enough so that even if Oz's judgement is ever clouded, he can't decide who gets the power or not. Finally, the last young woman in your thoughts is also a pretty good clause - selfless people are likely to think of their children in their final thoughts. All in all, it feels like Ozma really thought this through.
@@IdentityChrist I think your argument is a bit off considering he Could limit maiden to those that only possess A righteous heart and add more restriction where the Power is morely likely to leave them if they are consistent in using the power for selfish reasons.... Those four maidens should've been the main characters, instead of the train wreck we've been shown in the show. But honestly, him giving his power away wasn't that great of an idea. There wasn't any 'caveat' probably should've put some better conditions and finer details like the contracts people have today in giving those powers.
I figured Winter will die and transfer her power to Weiss. Raven dies and gives it to Yang, Summer or what's left of her gives the Summer maiden's power to Ruby and Blake avenges herself on Cinder or Cinder is betrayed by Salem and gives her power to Blake.

Warning: RWBY Spoilers throughout this comment. At most it only goes up to Volume 9. Read at your own risk. RWBY is a show tied greatly to fairytales. All of the major characters are allusions to many famous myths and stories, but you knew that already. But since Volume 6 with the Salem/Ozma reveal (and to an extent even earlier in V3 with Amber and the Maidens) the show has very much established its world as one where fairytales are real. So, then, what can we learn from reading these in-universe stories? The Girl in the Tower obviously relates to Salem, but what of others, such as the Indecisive King, the Girl Who Fell Through the World, or the one I'm covering today: The Four Maidens. Obviously it has something to do with the actual canon Maidens, but in what way? Can this tale be used to predict who becomes a Maiden, or even the course of the entire show? I belive yes, it can. Let's start with Winter, as that specific power has gone through the most changes and I doubt it'll switch hands now that Atlas is done with. Hopefully by comparing Winter (Schnee) with the Fairytale Winter we can determine how the story will be related to the canon of RWBY. Winter (Schnee) is very much not the Winter Maiden, at least at the start, in both contexts. Where the Maiden is calm, tranquil, patient, Winter Schnee is not, and I believe that's by design. At the point in RWBY where the Winter Maiden is introduced to us, everyone is essentially waiting for her to die, most of all Winter herself, as she is the chosen candidate. However, she's not quite ready for that spiritually, so Penny ends up with the power, and only until Winter has freed herself from Ironwood is she able to ascend and become a Maiden. Admittedly, the Winter Maiden in the fairytale isn't given a lot of time, so my reasoning is very thin, but it does get better, I swear. In short, what's learned right now is that the lessons the Maidens teach the old wizard in the fairytale are what the Maidens need to learn themselves in order to realize their power. Before we move on to Spring, I wanted to touch on who I think will be the Final Maidens, and how I can think that. A Shadow is a philosophical term coined by Carl Jung that represents someone's attributes they deny or do not wish to see. Winter is very blatantly the Shadow of Weiss, so it stands to reason that any of the other Maidens would be the Shadows of Team RWBY; aspects of themselves they hide or do not acknowledge. (In case you're wondering how I'm sure RWBY follows Jung, I'm not, but one of the continents of Remnant is named 'Anima' which is another Jungian term) This brings us to who I believe will be the Final Spring Maiden: Raven Branwen. Yang Xiao Long has shown time and again that she has a lot of Raven in her that she does not want to think about, which would make Raven Yang's Shadow. From here things get speculative, as these events have not happened yet, if they even are to happen. The Spring Maiden teaches the Wizard nothing, but instead repays him for his hospitality by mending the garden and starting a new crop. My theory is still a little shaky here but I took this as meaning that Raven will have to mend her relationship with her family (Tai, Qrow, Yang [obviously]) in order to realize her Maidenhood. It's likely why she flew back to Tai after Yang confronted her in Haven. Summer's gonna be a lot tougher, since we haven't even been to Vacuo yet, and we have no idea who the current Summer Maiden even is, so let's start with her lesson. I belive Summer teaches the old man to not simply have a narrow view of the world but to go and experience it; get out of that house and see the world. This brings us to the question of who needs to learn this lesson? Who would need to stop looking through the world narrowly, and is also a representation of one of RWBY's hidden aspects. Weiss and Yang are off the table, which leaves Blake and Ruby, and despite what you may think, Summer Rose will not be the Summer Maiden, so let's focus on Blake first. So who, then, is the Shadow of Blake Belladonna? I think it's Ilia. Ilia represents Blake's past in the White Fang, and after integrating with her, both are able to grow spiritually and heal. Ilia even learns to broaden her narrow views of the world, so she's pretty much a shoe-in. So, Ilia may very well be the Final Summer Maiden. And now we get to Fall. Her lesson is the simplest, thank the Brothers. It's just a plan and simple "recognize what you have and be grateful for it". Reading this in relation to our only Fall Maiden at the moment, She who wants for everything, it's possible she may be our Final Fall Maiden. But, she would also have to satisfy the criteria of being Ruby's Shadow. Both are young (approx. 15) when taken in by Oz and Salem respectively, both have gawked over weapons. Cinder(ella) is based on a Greek story of Rhodopis (ROSE-FACED). I'm pretty sure they're connected, most likely as Shadows. Now, what does this all mean for the Story? Well, where we are know, I predict that somewhere between getting to Vacuo and now, Raven will have mended the wound she caused in her family (Spring follows Winter). By Vacuo Ilia will assume the role of the Summer Maiden (Summer follows Spring), and somewhere down the line, who knows how long, Cinder will be redeemed (The Fall Maiden joins her Sisters last) If you actually read all of this, that's really cool! Thanks a lot! If there's any issues you have or other ideas you might have on this, I'm open to most. Thanks again for sitting through my tinfoiling.

so much sadder when you realize that the old Wizard was Ozpin himself and that this was shortly after his four children died to Salem and their kingdom crumbled
Yeah seems about right
It would make so much sense If the Maidens had a Much more OP powers like...Idk....Reality Warping at some extend, at least that would be make them different than a normal semblance

I feel like Magic is bound to something that is living, though dust has some properties of magic. Penny is 100% Synthetic, but using Pietro’s Aura. So most people assume she has no soul. But now with the Maiden Powers bound to her being, she’s becoming her own Women/Android
@@leastlikelysuspect5122 Penny's Aura is male and she herself is mechanical how tf does magic accept her?
Just because she thinks herself to be a woman does not mean she is she is man made and magic is natural she should not and cant have magic unless they retcon it again.
I just noticed how he said he has lived there for centuries, when he is but a mere old man. This is definitely Ozpin and one of his many incarnations.

Yeah but rwby been getting worse and worse

The only thing one needs to be a maiden is a young female aura as far as we know. And Penny has that.
She’s a robot, and she got her aura’s start from Pietro but it’s clear that the implications are that Penny has her own soul. It seems like aura thus is more self determinant.
Penny is a real girl, partially because she knows that she is. So, she can be a maiden.

How many of his hosts did he drag to those woods just to die alone? This must've been during Oz's depressed, drunkard phase.
I mean, Summer's role in the story was about getting him to come out to the sunshine...

Poor ozpin and his daughters
His daughters weren't the maidens - They were full magic users. The Maidens only have partial magic.
At most, his daughters were the inspiration for the maidens, not the maidens themselves.
@@thatonetemplar Maybe, maybe not. I believe that they reincarnated into the maidens after being killed during the battle between Ozpin and Salem.
@@symonsan It's not a matter of belief, lol. They died. Nothing at all suggests they're reincarnations, especially when there is zero of their original personalities involved.

Second, "The Tale of the Two Brothers" in "A Much Needed Talk" where Qrow tells Ruby, Jaune, Ren and Nora about the existence of the Gods
and how they created both humanity and the Grimm.
Third, "The Story of The Seasons" in "Rest and Resolutions" where Ozpin reveals himself as the old hermit who gave
a huge amount of his magic to the first Maidens.
Fourth, "The Girl in The Tower" and the "White Witch in the Woods" where in "The Lost Fable", Djinn reveals to Team RWBY the origin of Salem and Ozpin,
what happened to them and how the war between them started.
Five, "The Girl Who Fell Through the World" where throughout the whole of Volume 9, Team RWBY learn bit by bit the truth about Alyx, her death at the paws of the villainous Curious Cat,
her brother Lewis, the Rusted Knight (Jaune) and the origins of the Gods.

Or, because it's a fairy tale in a fictional word told by a liar who has lived for a good few hundred years, the details might be a bit muddy.
that omg gets me every time

Kibernetik It’s too bad that Ozpin can’t take the maiden’s powers considering they were his too begin with.
The summer maiden was the eldest sister....
Basically more foreshadowing of Yang becoming the summer maiden.

By Vacuo Ilia will assume the role of the Summer Maiden (Summer follows Spring), and somewhere down the line, who knows how long, Cinder will be redeemed (The Fall Maiden joins her Sisters last)
If you actually read all of this, that's really cool! Thanks a lot! If there's any issues you have or other ideas you might have on this, I'm open to most. Thanks again for sitting through my tinfoiling.
Did the seasons just go by quick in one day or stayed all year around? So strange the seasons change so quick the moment the girls arrived
If I have a child, I will tell them this story.
