OPs sister is a selfish POS. She wanted her sisters boyfriend, so she had an emotional affair with him for a year, then she took him (yes it was just as much Alex’s fault). She had the whole family on her side making her sister feel even less than because OPs feelings of hurt and betrayal weren’t as important as the sisters happiness. The sister really thought that with years past, OP would just get over it and be happy for her relationship and when that didn’t happen, it was once again, all about how the sister fault, leaving the mom (who’s just as much a POS as her youngest daughter), father and Alex to pick up the pieces. I hope OP never forgives the sister because she doesn’t care about OP, she only cares about herself
Family loyalty means that a sister shouldn't sleep with her sister's bf. I will NEVER accept a son or daughter- in law that monkey branches from one sibling to another.

But i say its far too late she did something that hurt her big sister the one who has been there for her and how she repaid her kindness by dating the ex. The mom failed to realize how much of an emotional toll on her eldest daughter. The cousin who mention the childhood promise was stupid to bring it up.

But the fact that her sister, OP, stood her ground as the victım was the venomous thorn that saturated her world with guilt. As a result, doubt started to creep in in a voice that grew louder and louder until she could no longer ignore it. That's why the sister called off the wedding... her sxual escapades was the Tell-Tale Heart, beating in a deafening thump while others went on unaware. There's nothing to say that the sister knew anything about the boyfriend until, at the very least, a week after she ripped up the floorboards, and months after the plea for OP to be the bride. So it has no bearing on the broken marriage, only a sign of one person's healing journey while another falls from grace. Btw, if my comparison confuses you, I am saying that the sister is like the protagonist in Edgar Allan Poe's the Tell-Tale Heart.
