    Congrats on going tubeless. I too struggled to get my GP5000TL's installed on my Aeroad's DT Swiss wheels, but was able to do it without having to lever the tire on. Here are a few suggestions for next time: 1) When installing the stem, put a little sealant on the part of the stem that comes in contact with the rim tape, might help seal the stem hole opening in the rim tape 2) when installing the 2nd bead, be sure the 2nd bead that is already installed is positioned at the very bottom of the rim valley -- this will give you more "slack" for the final push. I use a plastic tire lever to push the 2nd bead away from the rim and down into the valley on the 80% of the tire that has both beads installed 3) add soapy water to the rim and the 2nd bead on the last 20% -- this will serve as a lubricant to get the last 20% over the top 4) place a cloth towel or shop rag over the tire on the last 20% and use the palms of your hands (not your thumbs) to roll the tire over the last bit of the rim. The towel gives your hands good traction with the soapy tire. I found it helpful to put the wheel on the seat of a stool (wheel parallel to floor) so I could put my body weight onto the palm of my hands. A 2nd stool will help support the non-working end of the wheel during this forceful operation 5) inflate the tire and set the beads onto the rim BEFORE putting in sealant. It can get messy having sealant pooled in a tire that is not set on the rims. I was able to seat the tire without any sealant using just my floor pump -- truly amazing. GP5000TL & DT Swiss are a very good match. Once the tire is seated THEN remove the valve core and inject your sealant.

      Excellent tips on installing tubeless tires! I like the sealant around the stem on installation. This could potentially help slow pressure loss. Thinking about it, the stem is probably where most of the pressure loss is occurring for me . Im definitely going to use your tips the next time I install new tires. I totally agree with the fact that the GP5000TLs and DT Swiss are a good match. lve seen several videos where they say the hardest part is seating the bead. With GPs and DTSwiss seating the bead can be done with a simple hand pump. Thanks so much for your tips and thanks for watching! Happy riding!

    This video is so useful. May I ask can I use any air pump?

    • @Juricell
      @Juricell  2 года назад +1

      Thanks for your comment. Not any pump will work. You need a pump that will put out enough volume and pressure to seat the bead of the tire. Different rim and tire combos also dictate the level of difficulty seating the bead will be. In this video for example, the rim and tire fit very tight so it was very easy to seat the bead. Other combos can be considerably more difficult. Also do not use CO2 cartridges as I’ve been told it is bad for the sealant. Hope this helps!

    As much as I loved the GP4000s tires in the past we have to get honest here: Continental has been *cutting corners* to achieve their tubeless tires!
    The sidewalls aren't reinforced and their bead isn't hookless compatible. Essentially you're getting a normal tire that works with sealant. Many people on the forums and on Reddit have issues with these tires: damage on the fragile sidewalls runs them inoperable!
    So *not* a proper tubeless tire!

    • @Juricell
      @Juricell  3 года назад

      I’ve never run 4000s so I can’t really make a comparison there. I did have a crash recently in which I hit a curb hard which did trash my sidewall and the tire started to bulge in that area. So I can agree that the sidewall does seem to be on the thin weak side. I’m wondering if Conti did this to save weight wherever they could? Before my crash, my 5000s performed beautifully. So overall I really do like the 5000s mainly because they fit so well on DTSwiss wheels. Just don’t crash with them.

    I don't know if you changed your procedure since this video, but seat the tire first, deflate, remove core, then add sealant! A lot less mess.

    • @Juricell
      @Juricell  3 года назад

      Thanks for your input! I have used that method but have had varying outcomes. Sometimes when deflating the tire after seating the bead, the tire will become unseated. It’s hit or miss for me. I wonder if it’s different with another brand tire. I’ve only used go5000tls. I might try another brand next time just because the gp5000s are so hard to mount.

      @@bobd7855 Interesting - I use 5000's on Reynolds too - however, when time has come after first few months (the last of which I did not ride due to rain and all sealant seemed to have dried out) adding new sealant turned out an issue - seemingly a tyre is now slowly losing air through somewhat unseated bead...

    How did you get the tires on? The ones I ordered look too small 584mm vs tube tires 622mm.

    • @nicholaesranvik3282
      @nicholaesranvik3282 3 года назад +2

      584 is for 650b wheels, basically one size smaller than the ones that you probably want.

      @@Juricell I was hoping to see your actual technique for mounting of both side of the tires , you begun the effort at 4:19 and at 4:27 tire was mounted, that is what I meant by too abbreviated. Was one side very hard to mount as well? It seemed like you were getting ready to finish one side of the tire. What technique/ mechanics did you use to mount the tire beside brutal effort. Thanks.

    • @Juricell
      @Juricell  2 года назад

      @@hlobend2111 thanks for the input. I actually edited that part because I didn’t think anyone would want to see me struggling with the tire for as long as I did. I was wrong. A couple people mentioned the same thing. I will say that mounting the gp5000s on the dtswiss wheels is extremely hard. Other tires aren’t nearly as tight I’ve heard from several sources. But once they are on, they are fantastic. Mounting these isn’t for the faint of heart. One side mounts on the wheel easily, it’s the getting the other wall on the rim. I had the best luck getting them on with really good quality tire levers. Cheap levers will break. When you see guys just working on a tire onto the rim by hand they are definitely not GP 5000s or they have the hands of a gorilla! Most cyclists probably opt for the bike shop to do it. But I love a challenge.
