that little torch table just impresses the hell out of me
also im young. i scarf everything, dont want to carbon arc off my bobcat. ill have to try that straight cut through. amy tips for the bigger gaps at the bottom of the gouge? half the time i try to key hole it wants to blow out on a bigger that 1/8" gap

These are my favorite of your videos. I love the equipment logging stuff. 😅 if that was me on this repair I would have been very nervous about all that grease catching on fire. I definitely would jammed a FR blanket in there , just because of my anxiety . Always rad stuff dude.

Good repair job. Really liked the cutting table. Just and idea for you. Making a video on all the different cutting touch’s you have alone with and explanation of there use and the different tips. I’ve seen rosebud touch’s that are used to heat propellers hubs up to jump them onto the propeller shaft taper on towboats. And the same heating applied to remove them. They produce a huge amount of heat. You have a great deal of knowledge and there beginners out here who benefit from your sharing. Your videos contain lots of information that you probably don’t think a second thing about but to others it’s a world of knowledge. Thank you for sharing.

I repair quite a few of these grapples every year and that’s the best repair you can do without disassembly. I’m fortunate enough to have them brought in to the shop where I can pressure wash and tear them down

Some bark caught fire on the ground and some grease flared up on the grapple but no big deal

Yes sir replacing that wiper motor will work I had the same problem I'm on my 97 Silverado it is the exact same part number
I put a zip tie on the wiring harness to add some side pressure to it and I haven't had any trouble since.

The wiper motor in my 1988 Chevy k1500 Silverado 4x4 didn’t have the circuit board in it so I just had to replace the whole motor but if there’s a circuit board in yours resoldering should fix it Tapping the break pedal at a 🛑 here is a California stop 😂

Love that pattern torch thing it is cool as hell. We have worked on quite a few of those grapplers as well nice repair/reinforcement. My uncle in WV was telling me how hot it was this morning. We haven’t had a drop of rain in 3 weeks here in central NC. Been to a few logging jobs recently that made me real nervous as far as fire since it is so hot and dry. Stay cool and safe out there buddy.

Hey C.B. D.P. here, you can repair the circuit board in your wiper motor very easily. I've done quit a few over the years. Your friend is correct the solder joints crack and cause the wipers to either not work or to work then stop work not park start up again , in other words your wiper motor gets a brain of it's own. There's only one wiring plug that you disconnect then there's 3 screw on the black plastic cover, remove those screws and the cover. Once you have the cover off there might be one more screw holding the board in. the board should lift out with no more wires attached inside the motor. on the back of the big black plastic plug you'll see 5 tabs coming through the board. Look at them closely for cracks. Once you locate the cracks, get out your carbon-arc and gouge out all the old solder. No,no,no just kidding, you can get out your soldering gun,torch or iron and reflow the solder. check for any other cracked solder joints and reflow the solder on them. Install the circuit board being careful not to bend the 2 contacts sticking up off of the black plastic plug on the board. install the screw if there is one, install the cover and the 3 screws plug the harness back in and you should be good to go. Hope this helps. Nice repair on the grapple, those things take a lot of abuse. I sent you an email.

Great job; it ought to hold. I like arc gouging when available.....but also purchased gouging tips for my torch, for exactly the reasons you mentioned. It just increases versatility, & I don't have to have a big compressor on site to accomplish the same thing.

I used to work in a chevy dealership back in that era, we replaced lots of those modules. Like @acmemaching stated just three screws. If they strip the head just break the plastic module and get a pair of visegrips on the screw.

I used a scarfing tip for a lot of my 20+ years in the mobile welding business before getting a Hypertherm 45XP plasma cutter with the gouging mode. Both work great, not that a carbon arc torch doesn’t have a place but, I’ve never owned one. I’ve used other people’s but never saw a reason to go out and buy one.
Hauling an air compressor big enough for the carbon arc is the issue for me

Practice and develop understanding of arc length...long arc makes a hotter puddle...short arc cools the puddle and increases control of arc direction
Arc direction---arc direction is part of control--practice and develop the ability to direct the arc where heat is needed until that spot is hot then redirect arc to a cooler spot
Weld will get hotter as you go...long arc length to start with then shorter arc as you proceed so it doesn't get too hot
