Man glad to have found you again, been using your settings on my sony a7ii and a6500, easy color grading for videos. Im on a waiting game right now for the A7iii it will be a company issue but would be under my accountability. man wish 35mm to 150mm tamron f2-2.8 is available soon. I would still be using my a7ii and a6500 for video, and be using the a7iii for stills.

The color correction you do at minute 3:25, is what you think should be done or what you have done in the first test? Are the images of the first test color corrected? If you haven't corrected them, are the colors much better on the 7AII?
I would even say that on the A7III, it is a little "overexposed", maybe because it makes better use of the light by the backlit sensor? Perhaps closing the diaphragm 1/3 would obtain more similar colors, but then it would not be in the same conditions!!! 😜 Better the way you did it!! This way the differences are more noticeable!! Good video!!! 👍

can you maybe do a comparison on the photo side? is the autofocus good in stills and how does it hold up in lowlight, i do event photography
Excellent video, really appreciate this. I'm buying a camera hoping to last the next 10-20 years, so going with the a7 III. I was going to buy the A7 II and my only delay was a snowstorm that kept me inside. Glad I found this comparison. The occasional slow/confused autofocus would drive me absolutely crazy. @@MaikHansen I actually bought the A7iii and then saw a summary of the updates in the A7 IV and so then swapped it for a IV! the facebook group that I'm in that discusses the iv has a lot of concerning notes about overheating and some things like that but I'm not doing anything professionally, so I don't think I'll end up running into any serious problems, because I can just pull my phone out if the camera misbehaves. Thanks for the video just the same though!!

Before it started struggling with autofocus, I was 100% sure that the footage of the A7ii was actually from the A7iii. I mean look at that quality!! I only do stills and very little video so I am going with the A7ii and save some bucks :)

I was thinking the same thing as well. Maybe the iii is slightly more exposed? It seems like it has less dynamic range. But it really should be the same or better right?
I could tell the difference from the slightly greener tint on the a7ii and I could pick up on those minute focus drops that weren't so obvious before it was struggling significantly.
Same. i thought A7iii is the left footage, bcs the color and Bokeh looks smoother even the right footage looks like Computation Sharpeners

@@MaikHansen Ich würde mich über Videos freuen, bei dem der gesamte Workflow zu einem Shooting bzw. Videodreh gezeigt wird. Aufnahmeeinstellungen vom Gimbal und Kamera und halt Post Produktion. Wäre interessant. Weil entweder es gibt Video wo einem das bearbeiten gezeigt wird oder halt nur das Filmen. Viele Grüße

Autofocus issues aside, the a7 II video quality seems to hold up surprisingly well here against the a7 III. Was this 1080p on the a7 III? I think the 4K video from that camera is on an entirely different level.
I 100% agree with the first part. A7ii quality is super fine 👌🏼 if you’re into MF it’s a great video camera (on a budget)
And although the 4K is super nice and crisp and wouldn’t say that it is too much of a difference. I shot some videos in 1080p 100fps and people asked me if it’s actually 4K 😅

7ii worth buying in 2023 because i have ah budget issue so that or choosing another camera please suggestion me from india.
I've been shooting for years A7III. I have the back focus button set up for AF and press it down and take the photo. It is in AF-C mode. Now I've been asked to do some videos for a birthday party. I never do vids but I said I'd give them basic ones. Focus would be nice lol.
So I tested with my sony lens and I imagined the C-AF would just beep focusing after I pressed the back focus button. (I was following a dog around and it got out of focus fast). This did not work. It only kept focusing while I held the button down. This got tiresome fast.
So how do I get the AF to work continuously without holding down the back focus button ..thanks.
Yo man, can you please do a video about the newly update firmware of the 50mm f1.8 v.03 and pair it with the sony a7ii and see if the focus improves.. thanks

Thanks for the great video. The mark III is obviously better for video. I bought the A7II last year and I'm very happy with my purchase. I only shoot stills and never do any video. The A7III was exactly twice the price of the mark II here in Canada, and I could not justify spending that much more for some features that I did not care about like 2 card slots, 4K video, and bigger battery. No buyer's remorse from me.

I'm on the fence.. its either 7aii w kit lens at best buy 999.00 or cannon r8 without no lens. What do you think? I only shoot still family pictures and street photographs and family vacations
@@bigbluerios I have no experience with Canon, but I'm sure that the R8 would also be a good choice. One of the most important factors to consider is lens selection. In that regard Sony has the advantage with 3'rd party lenses as well as the fact that Sony e-mount is the same for APS-C and FF.

Brilliant video again! Switched from canon to Sony recently and got the a7ii cause of budget and I don’t feel too bad for not getting the a7iii. I mean not as fast but not terrible
Depends on the lenses, the natives are good (can’t speak on tamron) I use primarily a 35mm f/1.4 prime lens from sigma and the autofocus is soo bad, the only mode that sometimes reliable (not so much even then) is flexible spot. Everything has to be manually focused for really sharp images.
The quality for price on that lens is amazing, probably best under 1000 usd, don’t let me steer u away from that lens just keep the focusing issue in mind when buying. No other 35mm prime can compete for the price tho sigma rules

I am a photographer part time as I have a full time job. All these videos make it so hard. I don't care about 4k. I don't make videos. Autofocus I care about but I've done weddings in manual and had some of my best pictures. There are complaints about the ISO being grainy but that's what a tripod is for when doing landscapes. So I am swinging more to the alpha ii. Battery is a problem but surely you can get a Sony a7iii battery for the 2 right? Or is it the camera itself that burns up the energy. All in all I think I'd rather have more money for better lenses. The zeiss batis 18mm is amazing.
Great video man! I use sigma lenses on my A7ii and the autofocus is atrocious no matter how much I change the settings, extreme pulling. Everything is manually focused which works for my photos and when I film my girls friends RUclips videos not so much for my clips or photos where I can’t fully see the screen. But can’t wait to upgrade to the A7iii or A7Riii will be soon.

Feel like the A7II can use some hardware mods to improve the focus, me personally I think my main usage would be pictures more than vlogging/videos
hey maik, I'm thinking of getting a camera to shoot like traveling photos with me and my family. i am unsure about long hour vlogging, but i will take videos during important moments.

Honestly if vlogging is your most important topic I would suggest the a7c as this is really similar to the a7iii but with a flip out screen.

The A7II is more than decent if you can score it for 700 dollars (which I happen to can. And I'm very tempted by it). Due to the somehow more fancy and pleasant looking golden hue and soft image I even thought it was the III at first!

Nope, not even close. ISO-performance on the A7III is waaaay better. The A7III is definitely worth the extra money.
if you've used old sony cameras you'll understand that the A7 and A7ii render colors on the warmer side before you see the auto focus tells them apart.

Ich hab mir eine A7ii geholt und muss sagen: die ist wirklich sehr solide. Der Autofokus ist manchmal ne Zicke aber man freundet sich an. Für Fotografie war die Kamera bis jetzt (hab sie intensiv ne Woche bis jetzt genutzt) ein reiner Genuss. Jede Kamera hat so sein Charakter, die ii hat auch nen eigenen und schönen Charakter! :-)

nice focus but there are issues on a7III too.
Currently running an A6400, but kinda want to upgrade for my Car photography. Debating if I should get a A7ii or A7iii.
In my opinion the a7ii works out for photography pretty well. But if you have the money the a7iii would be probably a better choice for the long run.
For days was searching. Thank you for this video. A2 seems old now and A3 can be a good option but still A2 is cheaper :) Still confused. Auto focus is case on the other hand.
Hey man, sorry for the late response!! In my opinion if you are on a budget go with the a7ii. Because MF is super easy to learn and in the end we just need a sensor and a lens.

I had the a6000 before and I have to admit that I definitely prefer the A7II - just because of handling and feeling while shooting🙏🏼

A7II very capable at photography, so instead of upgrading to A7III, best route is to buy a Sony ZV-E10 for video at only $698, now you can even shoot 2 different angles of videos at the same time!

I love my a7ii but has moiré and aliasing which totally ruins the video hence I will be selling.
