In this review, I share with you my thoughts on the Legendary Mitsubishi Pajero Evolution.
An extremely rare example and one of only 2500 cars ever made, the Pajero Evolution is a homologation special, produced purely for Mitsubishi to enter the iconic Dakar Rally. Destroying the competition, the Evolution has the most Dakar Rally wins of all time with nine championships under its belt. A true family SUV with an unmatched racing pedigree, what more could you possibly want?

Other models had the 3.5 and LSD too. What was exclusive to the Evo was the body kit, suspension and the Mivec engine which came out of a Diamante. The Dakar rally isn't your traditional Rally, it's a race through an open desert.

They used to build such very good cars.
Sad, as a kid growing up seeing Evo’s and Ralliart magna’s etc. I wouldn’t of ever thought those days would come to an end
They are owned by Nissan as of 2019 influence already started in 2022 models, but just small things so far. But otherwise Mitsubishi is gone. They only sold 120,000 cars in the US last year like less than Toyota sells of one model, mitsubishi sold less adding up all of its models
I think they stop the sports division they mainly focus on how to survived now building boring suv crossovers
Japanese cars in general have lost their touch
The GFC had a huge impact on Japanese car industry, and Mitsubishi is one of the casualties.
This is news for me, and I own an EVO X. What a beast! I've never seen one, the rims are so beautiful, the exact same model of the rally versions. How cool is that!!

Currently, Mitsubishi in Japan has a compact SUV equipped with a 4WD 3-cylinder turbo engine called the Mitsubishi ek X (cross).

You should do fresh review on JDM Australian market car prices increased, especially cars like Silvia s15, S14a skylines , type r etc..

You want to sit slightly higher when racing something like the Dakar- it gives you a bit more visibility over dune crests and over rocks and into ruts - since the bonnet/hood is not so obstructive to your vision. This could be the difference between flipping over, or losing a wheel - that could have detrimental effects on your stage.

The pajero evolution was never built with 4g63 engine its a 6g74 check the facts

Mitsubishi always seems to mount their seats too high. My evo seat was too high too.

our 1997 Pajero Evolution only had a maximum of 6,000rpm :((
i saw 4 of them last year and all of them were powered by toyota v8. heavier but more powerful.

many of them was imported to china and converted to left hand drive. they litrally eats most off road races. but that gdi v6 isnt that reliable so many of those swapped toyota 3uz

Isnt this motor the same as the magna motor? Or am i mistaken?
Yup the Magna and Diamante
No DOHC in local AUS production vehicles only 4valve single cam. The DOHC engine was used NK Pajero but not with MIVEC. NL went to same SOHC engine as magna/verada. I really miss my NL pajero. Mitsubishi bought mine back of me because of an non repairable air bag inflator. Who'd have thought that putting a bomb in the steering wheel would be a problem 20 years down the track.
Yep. Shares parts with the 3000gt also. My mate is always using magmas for his GT. People will mix and match the head and the block, gearbox and the diffs from magmas, evos and 3000gt of the time.

Mitsubishi Motors is in serious financial trouble at the moment they have been losing money since the 90s. The board members at Mitsubishi decided to stop make sports cars to focus on making money by only selling SUVs crossovers and small cars. It seems to be working because profit has gone up. This is bad news for car fan this means no more Evos or Ralli Art. R.I.P. 😢
