    ✰ Hey you, I’m Shwet. I was first introduced to the world of modelling in 2015. I was SO excited about the possibility of Becoming a Model but I was really struggling with the lack of honest, authentic and high-quality information for models. After learning the ropes the hard way and becoming a successful model, I wrote my debut book, Becoming a Model to help fellow models with their dream. From my RUclips Channel to my Book and my podcast, everything has been made by someone who knows exactly how intimidating it can be to Become a Model. My ultimate hope is to take away some of the overwhelm for you and keep you as updated as I am.
    Disclaimer: I'm here to be your #ModelBFF and not your model mentor. I'm only 26 years old and just five years in the business-so pls ONLY CALL ME SHWET. Think of me as a friend❤️

    Hi Shweta ! How did you support yourself financially in the initial days of your modeling career?

    • @TheIndianModel
      @TheIndianModel  2 года назад

      Hey, great question. I was a freelance writer and a social media manager. Plus, did any side gig to make money and was quick to invest my money in mutual funds. ( my dad helped me with it). I had a part-time job even after INTM- it provided me with a sense of stability and financially comfortable while I was establishing myself in Mumbai.

    Will an agency pay for my travel and accommodation for the day of shoot if I'm not based in their city and travelling from a different city for the shoot?

    • @TheIndianModel
      @TheIndianModel  2 года назад

      Hi,
      The client(designer, brand) pays you- and not your agency. In 90% of the cases, the client will provide for travel and stay. The agency is responsible for coordination between the client and you- and will take a 30% commission cut from the total amount received by you and TDS will be charged at the rate of 10% above 30k ONLY.

    If you win times fresh face at City level will you be associated with times talent agency ?

    • @TheIndianModel
      @TheIndianModel  2 года назад

      No, it doesn't guarantee it. However, if you are able to connect (build a rapport) with a Times Talent booker or representative during the contest- you might get represented. I was rejected by an agency once- regardless, I maintained a cordial relationship with a booker and a few months later- the booker's recommendation got me representation.

    Hey! First of all, thank you for providing us with all the information that you do through your videos

    • @TheIndianModel
      @TheIndianModel  2 года назад +2

      Yes, you can take part in Miss India while maintaining an alliance with your existing agency. Most Indian agencies are open to dual talent contracts with Times Talent. Also, why would there be a problem? Your agency's ultimate motive is to pitch you as a reliable candidate and ANYTHING that helps you do that- will be appreciated and welcome by your agency. Follow me here to ask your other doubts. instagram.com/becomingamodell/

    • @TheIndianModel
      @TheIndianModel  2 года назад +2

      Also, you can reduce your contract to one year. Even if they don’t- pls know that it’s completely okay to leave an agency working 4-5 months of being with them. Regardless of the time you spend with them- do a lot of test shoot and give LOTS of auditions. At the end of 4-5 months- see how much you’ve grown as a model due to your agency. If you start getting work- that’s great. If not, don’t dismiss them immediately. Keep working on your profile! Talk to each and every Booker. It’s crucial. Remember, just because you joined the campus placement in college - doesn’t mean that you will get a job. You’ve to work at it as well!

      @@TheIndianModel Also, I had another small doubt. I am interning with a firm in Nashik. It is a 9-5 job and I get an off on the weekends. I can also take a couple of days off from work, but not much. This internship will be till December. So will an agency sign me in such a case? Once I am done with that internship, I will move to Mumbai. But I can't leave the internship now because it plays a role in my graduation and also because of some financial issues.
      And I can't wait for another 4 months before I start modelling because I am already 22 and I feel like this is the right time to start otherwise it will be too late. And even if I did wait, there is no guarantee that an agency will shortlist me then. So, I am in this huge dilemma.
      Will that work for an agency if I sign a contract with them while I have a job?

      Hye, you can exit your contract whenever you want. No, you won't leave a bad impression on the market. See, as long as you are doing well and are happy- it really doesn't matter.

    Hey Shwetha! Is 5'8 tall enough to be a runway model in india?

    • @TheIndianModel
      @TheIndianModel  2 года назад

      Hi Manisha,
      It certainly is. While there are plenty of models below 5'8 in the runway circle- all the top models are above 5'9- so if you want to make a mark- STAND TALL at all given times.
      When you are auditioning initially- wear heels and dress up to look taller.

    • @TheIndianModel
      @TheIndianModel  2 года назад

      No, they shouldn't. However, some agencies (NOT ALL) (worldwide and not just India) take indirect fees in the name of hiring a professional photographer/stylist for your first portfolio etc. You should pay if you would have hired the person anyway, and not because you are afraid of disappointing the agency.
