  • Floods in southern Russia and Kazakhstan forced tens of thousands of people out of their homes.
Melting snow has caused the Ural River to surge, and flood-defenses around the city of Orenburg to collapse. A rescue operation is underway, but locals say not enough was done to prevent the flooding in the first place.

I'm no fan of Putin but I think it's silly when the chief of state shows up to these areas. It ends up distracting those organising the rescue and relief effort. Instead of dealing with the people they're creating a horse-and-pony show. A chief of state should be on the phone with them often, receiving video reports, and identifying bottlenecks to be ordered resolved. Send a few trusted advisors to monitor the situation on the ground to verify or debunk the reports being sent.

all the women presenters on DW sound like exactly the same woman, now I'm hearing the russian presenters in Riga both sound exactly the same as each other. That seems kind of robotic.

They probably sent the dam maintenance crew off to die/fight in Ukraine. If they are still with us they'll be flat out warring with no time for dam fixen.

Good questions asked, infrastructure issues in russia, not surprised putin dosnt want to visit these areas and highlight this due to corruption and negligence which seems to be a whole rotten structure perpetuated by the state over decades and extrapolated by him.
