Loving this video! One note---OCD is a debilitating disorder characterized by a cycle of obsessions and compulsions generally lasting for >1 hr each day. It's not the same as liking organization. To support those with OCD, please consider learning more about it and refraining from using OCD as an adjective to describe liking things to be neat/even!
@@leorising8074 Thank you for the comment! I understand where you're coming from; there are a lot of differences between how society views OCD (loving being organized, liking things to be even) and how OCD manifests in people who have it. My original comment is referring to the definition of OCD in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (more commonly known as the DSM), which is the official publication of the American Psychiatric Association to diagnose mental disorders like OCD. There are definitely ranges in terms of symptoms, but in order to be diagnosed with OCD, "the obsessions or compulsions [must be] time consuming (e.g., take more than 1 hour per day) or cause clinically significant distress or impairment in social, occupational, or other important areas of functioning." Of course, the DSM isn't a perfect tool, but it is one of the better tools we have for diagnosis and treatment. People can have obsessions and compulsions that don't rise to the disordered level, but then, it wouldn't be considered OCD (obsessive compulsive DISORDER). I edited my comment above to reflect these nuances. In any case, OCD is characterized as ego-dystonic, which means that the obsessions/compulsions don't align with our values/sense of self. When someone says that they enjoy things being ordered (and this is not a criticism of Paige---people misuse OCD all the time), that's not ego-dystonic. It's ego-syntonic, meaning that it doesn't cause distress and it aligns with your values. Liking to see something in order is ego-syntonic. Being distressed because something isn't in order and having to do compulsions (e.g. realigning something over and over again) is ego-dystonic, and could range anywhere from a 1-10 on the OCD scale. I'm posting this to respond to this comment, but more generally so that people with OCD who are reading the comments feel seen. I see you and I support you!
