Any footage used is from various TV shows, movies, and games to illustrate my personal thoughts on these pieces of media. Oh no. That’s not even close.
Sociopaths see only advantage and disadvantage. If he reveals he found it, it would put him in the center of drama. Disadvantage.
Greg hid it in his mother’s closet. Why? Because she would be the one to take the fall. Knowing her, she’s happily declare she found the diamond. This would incur the wrath of the family as they would start drama saying she stole it and likely file lawsuits to get the diamond. Advantage.
Rowley: gets a girlfriend

As a kid, I noticed that there was a plastic Easter egg hidden in about every picture in the book. (This is mainly because of the story line with the Grandma's egg)

To be honest, I feel Greg seems a tad less selfish as the books go on and on.
@@CrazyIshan69 Because of the road trip stories. Road trips are slowly getting rid of Greg’s selfishness and pretty soon, if Jeff Kinney doesn’t come up with an original idea, Greg will possibly be a whole different person... or not. But seriously, Greg should stop going on road trips.
He wasn’t that mean this book. Apart from trying to manipulate Fregley and openly admitting to doing it to rowley
not everyone who admit things are shamed of themselves. I met people admitting every bad things they did because they were proud of it

@@redfatseal2407 there are multiple times throughout the series where greg admits to feeling bad for something he did, or trying to fix it. most of the time he just admits to being selfish with no remorse, but i think we're forgetting he's a 13 year old boy - and that demographic is typically comprised of selfish assholes
He does come across as pretty hypocritical here tho criticizing Abigail for doing the exact same thing to Rowley as he does
Where boys cried: Infinity war
Where men cried: Fallen kingdom
Where legends cried: Toy Story 4 ending scene
*Where myths cried: Greg and Rowley hug in wrecking ball*

This might be my favorite book in the series for sentimental reasons. My Grandma and I would read this book, and she would always mention how ugly all the characters are with their big noses, which absolutely cracked me up. I miss my Grandma.

This book is so underrated. One of my personal favorites, and the last book before the series became VERY hit or miss.
I just reread all the book I have (up to Double Down) and I think Old School is the last good one imo. Double Down was a little all over the place and just felt like Kenny was finally running out of ideas. I didn’t remember liking Long Haul but rereading it again I actually liked it and got some genuine laughs out of it. Diary of a Wimpy Kid is a great series but I don’t have any interest in reading books 12 and on. Maybe I will one day but probably not for awhile

Btw, I thought the part of the ending where Greg decides to hide the ring so he doesn’t tear the family apart is really touching, as it shows that he’s not completely without a moral code, but as it said, he might end up just selling it XD

I know the structure of the DWOAK books don’t really allow for this kind of thing, but it would have been nice if Greg seeing Abigail use Rowley would have allowed him to reflected on himself and try being a better friend to Rowley.

OK, Greg's a major jerk, but can we all agree that Abigail is about a thousamd times worse. I mean she only went out with Rowley to make her ex boyfriend get back together with her and than tossed Rowley aside like garbage.

Does Greg even have a future anymore? Like, 90% of the book series is just road trip stories now. Greg’s life for now and possibly forever is pretty much summed up like this:

His family is an asshole to Greg if you think about it, they just give him random gifts on Christmas and not even trying to think of him.
@@eddiethefriendlytenderengine Christmas isn't the only example. The rarely ever think of him, period. So if you ask me, his family is pretty dysfunctional.
The Heffley family is basically a version of the Wattersons, but less extreme.

Plot twist:
Greg is actually just intentionally exaggerating to make himself look worse because he knows his family reads his journals behind his back and he just want attention, so he makes himself out like a manipulative sociopath (which, to be fair; he still is one, just to a much lesser degree.) so that they believe him less and are willing fuss at him more often.

The ring might not even be in the egg. It is established early in the book that when you shake an egg, you will most likely hear a sound of an object that you know, but will end up being something else.

Diary of a wimpy kid followed rodrick rules and it was the last straw. He went through some dog days as he learned the ugly truth. He had a cabin fever this christmas. Instead of finding a wingman for valentine's day he got a third wheel instead which was very hardluck. After going through such a long haul once again this summer he went back to his old school. After he got double down he can't getaway this time so he ended up having a total melt down. He got destroyed by a wrecking ball that brought him to the deep end. He has a bigshot to solve everything
