Great to see this great ride. I had the honor of judging this car at the Japanese Classic Car Show in Long Beach. It was a treat to experience both the car and owner. Nice video feature.
It is so cool that you've seen and judged this car before and now get to hear the story again! Thanks for watching and welcome aboard! You'll find lots to love here!
Would you beleive it?!.. Maan! ... You just got your self a friend here now with another 1973 Mazda RX2 coupe need to be restored very soon!...with same color and motor in mind! Beautiful Nice car ❤talk t
Fantastic restoration. Your attention to detail is superb, looks like you touched everything down to the last bolt! Nerding out on the hard lines/master cylinder finish and zinc plated hardware.
Very sanitary job done to that gem! Restored one myself a bit over 20 years ago now. Upon buying it, the original owner wished it'd restored to its original state. Wish was granted, and it hasn't been regretted. So cool to see a nice piece featured! 👍👍
My cousin had a RX 3. Green with the mirrors way up front. I loved that car. 1977. He picked me up from school with that and I thought it`s the best car out there. Right hand drive. When cars had personality...
Certainly sounds like a 13B, and I knew it was a street port! I love rotaries. :) Racing Beat does good work.👍 I love my self RX4s and 5s/Cosmo. Yours looks very detail Dennis, I admire you have kept it for 20 years, please continue looking after her.
Nice.! I like the 12a to a 13b conversion. Racing Beat is a great shop . I was privileged to drive a '73 RX3, with a (12a.) Stock. I was so impressed in the power. Sadly, it got rear-ended ( real bad.) And that ended that fun project. Had the Racing Beat catalog, in hands and dreaming..... and wanted to get all this cool stuff for it. This rx3 came from Florida, and ended up in Southern California, then..Phoenix., then ended up smashed in front of Turf Paradise (19th ave and Bell) ....crap. Enjoy your rx2. Its very coo! Im jealous.
Is it just me or does it sound like a two stroke? How hard is it to find body / engine parts? The paint color has a real good 70's look to it. Great job on the restoration........
Hi Mike, it does sound like a two stroke, but rotary engines are four stroke engine, what gives it the two stroke-ish sound is the porting, inlet and exhaust porting, rotaries do not have a camshaft, infact there are only 3 moving parts in the engine and the porting are widenened and depending on the geometry and the size of the port extension they have some overlap which causes that two stroke-ish sound. This one is a street port meaning it has a very slight extension with minimal overlap, there are larger ones, big extend porting, bridgeporting and even peripheral porting. The larger the porting the more power you get with reduced lower end and obviously a greater fuel consumption with to many (including me) better sounding exhaust note. I personally love bridgeporting (which can be sized anywhere between a small, medium to large) it's a ''lumpy'' thing to listen too (you can look up vids about how it sounds if you like with such search words like ''bridgeport rotary engine'' etc). I had to run my bridgeport rich and would have flames exiting the exhaust, especially visible at night while! stationary without and foot to the pedal. I hope the rotary bug bites you too. : )))
I love rotary enjins since I was a boy my brother have a Mazda RX 2 and i always clean it for a spin now I am 58 years old and I still love rotary enjins and people who love rotary enjins❤
My dad had one and said that good mileage was advertised but wasn’t the reality. Being in the rust belt it started disintegrating after the first year haha
@@IfThisCarCouldTalkI still remember the MPG on my RX-2. City = 10, highway = 16. I drove it from Montreal to San Salvador. after I graduated from University in Montreal, 4,500 miles, 2 very fun weeks (no speeding tickets and it was still 55 MPH days in USA).

I had to sell my 1971 RX2 about 20 years ago. Miss that car so much.
Awe, bummer Christopher. Hope this brought back some good memories for you. Maybe you'll find another one someday! Thanks for watching!

Wow thanks so much Abdulaziz! Welcome to the ITCCT family and be sure to share your RX2 when it's restored!
I had 4 of those rx-2's as a teen in the early 80's so fast and fun. A used motor from Japan was only $300.
Thanks for watching and sharing your memories!
Fantastic restoration. Your attention to detail is superb, looks like you touched everything down to the last bolt! Nerding out on the hard lines/master cylinder finish and zinc plated hardware.
Great comment! Thanks for watching Juan and you are so correct about the detail Dennis put into his car. Keep watching!
My older sister owned one (‘73) in orange. She’d drive that thing everywhere! Even on top of a frozen lake in Jersey….lol
Wow Steve! As long as she stayed on the top of the lake - that is awesome! Thanks for the fun comment!

Awesome work !
Man I haven’t seen one of those in a very long time. Awesome!!
That's what we thought when we met Dennis. Miss you Terry!

....just a suggesting, a thick matte black line with 'RX2' somewhere might look interesting? especially with them beautifull wheels.
...and if she was mine :)) (dreams dreams lol) blacken out the door window frame for a more pronounced coupe line.
Great comment! Thanks Kenan!

I had a yellow RX2 that I ended up selling in Albuquerque in 89. I wonder ???
Hmmm? Thanks for watching!
@@IfThisCarCouldTalk She is a beauty, thanks for sharing.
My neighbor had one in 1973 that got poor mileage according to him. I'm thinking it had a four barrel carburetor.
A lot of us remember seeing these back in the day. Don't know about the mileage. Thanks for watching Ronald!
