I have a plasma conda, grade A , G5 engineered. I never overheat due to beam thermal vent and my PP is G4 armored w/monstered.... plasma slug keeps me from running out of ammo all rated G5 efficent..... 2 high cap imperial hammer with feedback.. AND I want to use 4 APA's on my 3 large, 1 huge point; i currently have normal PA's G5 efficent etc.
I have no problem with small ships, large targets are a piece of cake. took out 4 different vetts pve in a high intensity CFZ... shields didn't drop below %90
My point is, if you're playing PVE or PVP just fly what you love! xD

It’s REALLY stupid, but for PVE(mainly pirate hunting, either missions or haz res/nav beacon lurking) I’ve got my Anaconda set up with:
    4A pa
    3xlarge beam
    4x pulse
I say stupid because it is neither optimized build (b/c of the pa mainly) and requires constant pip management to excel with it at all (pa can only fire with 3-4 pips for one example lol)
But found a lot of fun, and success getting my aim improved with pa and gimbling all the lasers.
With 3 groups essentially, what want to do too is break them down into 2 fire groups. One is anti-capital ship mode with pa, and everything else on other side (remember, stupid, but call that “surprise/anti large things mode) and the other is your everything else mode where split beam and pulse lasers, leave pa out of mix(crafty pilot could then reduce its power I suppose if not seeing an suitable targets but eh, stupid mode) . Use beams in opening salvo, use pulse lasers to sustain fire when getting hot, heat sinks go long way too, but I did run without them for a while. Main thing there is obviously if running shields banks, really help to keep you in the action as opposed to trying to run a little to recharge, as well using a bi-weave for what worth, 7c. A lot of targets can’t even break its regen speed lol
Last, I just added it recently but toss a single fighter in there, with some multi cannons and covers the lack of hull damage lasers present.
Stupid, but has teeth and I love it so far haha When get those hits with PA…very cool weapon imho and makes for nice knock out right hook.

Yes they are, though may require some engineering to use. One of the better PP items to get. In top 3 for sure. Very fun too. For engineering, you are pretty much forced to go for Efficient if you'll use more than one. With a single one there's bit more options. I like to use Focused to match its shot speed with some fixed Multi-Cannons. That sort of gives me 2 stage trigger: press for a plasma shot and hold for plasma + cannon. Maybe that's more for messing around, but I think it's fun.
For experimentals it's hard to beat the ol' Target Lock Breaker and Dispersal Field for PVP. For PvE the Plasma Slug is a strong contender if you want to engage in prolonged NPC mass murder. Just make sure your fuel tank is big enough. For example, I like to put an additional small tank on my Gunship because I think the default size 4 tank cuts my NPC extermination a little short.

Ive noticed as with rail guns that these weapons are good against big targets not so good on small fast ones , and you need a manuverable ship that can stay on target. Used rails on a krait mk2 . good when I can get the target and so I was going to try plasma accelerators . Im still learning and finding it difficult with these kind of weapons . Normally I use multicannons burst or pulse lasers and missiles.

I find elite so annoying in so many ways. One of those ways is when you have something that should be INDISPUTABLY and clearly better because of all the bullshit you have to go through to get it.....and yet it's not. You have "drawbacks" and checks and balances. You have to literally and carefully analyze the differences. Like wtf? I had to grind some bullshit thing for weeks, months even and it might not even be worth it? Stg...

Great job, thanks for posting this video. I think you tied yourself in a knot when talking about the time to empty the magazine. The longer time to empty the magazine is an advantage not a disadvantage. In other words FDev overcompensated the amount of ammo per magazine. Its a good advantage of the weapon.

The general recommendation with APAs is to either run efficient weapons for the lower heat draw, or my preferred method, long range. Long range grade 5 can increase your shot speed up to that of a multicannon, and so missing shots with it stops being as big of a problem.

I actually like the Advanced Plasma Accelerators.
I fly a Python with 3x Class 3 APA's engineeresd with 'Long Range' to increase the speed of the shot and Plasma Slug (so you never run out of shots because it's taken from your fuel).
They're also useful because when players (live or NPC) is Chaff, you don't have to wait to shoot... you can keep pining up the pressure.
I match them with 2x Class 2 Beam Lasers with an engineering modification which drops the heat from your ship when you hit the enemy ship with them.... so you can keep firing the beam lasers while the chaff is off and cool off your ship, while blasting away with the plasmas until it starts to get a bit hot.
My Python has engineered A-rated thrusters, so it's good enough against big ships which are slow and sluggish, as well as ships to equal or lower values.
The only negative part is learning to fly and turn well... so you have to learn how to shoot with accuracy.
But once you gain that skill, you can be a fierce opponent!

APA's are devastating in PVP. If you run 2, one with Target Lock Breaker and the other with Dispersal Field you basically create and invisible ship that's near impossible to hit with anything other than fixed weapons.

I have three rank 5 engineered plasmas on my cutter with dazzle, target lock breaker, and plasma slug on the huge one. They aren't the easiest weapons to use, but they are fun. I thought about the advanced plasma, but couldn't find myself putting in the power play time for it. Still unsure if I will.. looks like for pve the non advanced is worth staying with.

It's not that time consuming. Pledge for the Power. Wait 3 Weeks. In the 4th Week go to a System controlled by another Power (I recommend Archon Delaine, The Systems are often in a Anarchy State) and kill ships of the Power. 1 Kill = 30 Mertis. 25 Kills and you're set (It takes roughly 1-2 Hours and you're done). Wait for week 4 Cycle and you got yourself access to Advanced Plasma Acc.

Advanced Plasma Accelerator is not for Corvette. I'm using 3x APA on my Python and it works like a charm. Target lock braker and dazzle shell plus long range plus insane rate of fire is something that you don't wanna fight against. I'm also using pack hounds for smaller targets on this build and it's so much fun. You can try similar outfit on FAS and it also works extremly well ^^'

It does take a high skill level to use them effectively. But once you get there, they are devastating weapons, especially with rapid fire and target lock breaker. They are best used as a first strike wepon where you can knockout all the shields and most of a ships hull in the first few volleys. :)
As for heat. I have thermal vent on my efficient turreted beams which negate nearly all the excess heat generated. I use this loadout nearly all the time in PvE haz res. No need to worry about chaff spammers either.

I'm still riding that fence about whether to spend the 4 weeks to get the Advanced PA's. I don't pretend to be any great shakes as a fighter pilot. But I have 2 size 4 PA's on my Corvette. G5 Long Range (for the faster shot speed) on both with one being target lock breaker and the other that thingy for jacking with gimbal/turret weapons. Add to that a size 3 fixed beam laser, G5 long range with thermal vent. If I can sneak in close enough for just one good shot against a small or medium ship the fight is pretty much over at that point. Large ships I prefer ramming first. One good NUDGE will take down all but the best of shield tanks. And most times by the time they get back under control I've had at least 2 free shots with those PA's at point blank range. Anything other than point blank range and I don't hit very often. But I find them knowing I have those monsters to be my best defense. If they are holding ME on target long enough for a solid shot with THEIR bigger guns. It means they are vulnerable to MY bigger guns for much of that same time.

Try this to solve most of APA's issues: Go for Grade 5 Efficient with either Target Breaker and/or Dispersal. This is great for a FAS that has to get in/out of one off situations e.g. Missions for deserters, takedown for Pirate Lords etc etc.

Long Range Advanced Plasmas on the Chieftain are insane. Add in Drag Munition Pack Hounds on the single medium hardpoint and you have the Outlaw Killer 9001. (Shielded targets are extremely easy to sight on with fixed guns, and when shields drop. send in the drag munition missiles for engine cripple)
Finally, you can put scramble spectrum burst lasers on the 3 small hardpoints for trolololololololololol build. Or use Cytoscramblers because having all powerplay weapons would be meta inside meta.
Overcharged ~MIGHT~ Be an option too for knife-fight range. About 50% damage increase as well as distributor draw, but no thermal increase, so this mod might actually bridge the gap between APA and normal PA while still retaining the larger Ammo maximum and rate of fire of the APA.

    • @cebi1337

Ask yourself. Are 3 rounds per second faster rate of fire than 0.3 rounds per second? 0.3 RPS is 18 shots per minute or one shot every 3.3333 second. I hope this helps :)

Dustin MidNyte Driscoll it's measured in rounds per second, so bigger numbers (more rounds in one second) are faster. It's not how many seconds it takes to shoot, it's how many times it shoots in a second.

    • @Orillion123456
      @Orillion123456 6 лет назад

It isn't a grind, though. You just sign up, and wait, 3 weeks later you spend one or two hours bounty hunting 25-ish npcs (which you dont even have to do at once, you can spread it over an entire week) to gain rank3. That's not a significant amount of work at all.
I mean, if you think that 25 interdictions total over the course of a week is a "grind", then you'll never even have the credits to buy a ship with an L slot for the advanced plasmas anyway, so why complain here?

As well as engineers except for stacking MJ and armor health, fighting Thargoids is a special case. I guess they've gone that way to avoid the hassle to balance them with all the weapons and mods available in game, a mess they've put themselves into.
