    One, two, three, four
    I'm fighting a dumb war.
    Five, six, seven, eight
My mind has started to deteriorate.
Imagine a world with eternal contentment
    Impossible. Why?
    Delusional guy.
Our brains are wired to crave.
To always feel a certain resentment
    Towards what we've claimed
    That money can't buy.
A wry remark from the subconscious
Makes us second-guess our entire lane.
Have I really been knocked unconscious
By what I thought was keeping me sane.
A faint gaze into the soul of the demon
That's covering my thoughts in intense haze.
A blank page, start over from zero
Spring into action, cease shifting the blame.
    Self-loathing, self-hatred.
    A cycle difficult to break.
A quiet echo from deep inside
Keeps convincing me pain is my fate.
"You'll never be great, you'll never make a difference"
Fear of failure keeps things from being different
Hear and rejoice, for a monster's there to guide you.
Hear and rejoice, for the villain inside you.
    Sane, sane, insane
    Shift the blame, blame, blame
    It's your fate, fate, fate
    To break.
Spare me from your toxic tales
They're lacking truth and lacking substance
My heart may be so very frail
But there will always be a reluctance
    To succumb to your hate
    To fall for your lies
    I will challenge my fate
    And if nothing survives
At least I can lie down
    Knowing I tried.
