- SUPERCUT: At the General Conference of the United Methodist Church (UMC) on April 25, 2024, clergy and laity debated a procedural motion to delay a vote on mandatory land acknowledgments to allow more input from international conferences to craft the proposed rule.
It was a woke-for-all grievance fest.

How can this be taken seriously as a denomination.
It no longer is..... The Christians split and left and many reclaimed their churches they worked for and built all these years, and have removed Methodist Clergy and any signs of UMC affiliation. A local Pastor here even burned his certification as Methodist Clergy, and was "Ordained" by his Congregation by an Association they decided to start.
It’s simply an organization that meets on Sunday morning.
Jesus is the only way. We have all sinned and deserve Hell. Sins that may seem small in our eyes are big in God's and are worthy of Hell, such as lying lusting and stealing. But if we repent and trust only in Jesus, he is faithful and will save us from Hell and give us eternal life in Heaven. Trust in Jesus!

As a former United Methodist ordained pastor I can assure you that these people aren't woke, they are nuts.

The UMC is a dead church. I talked with my mother about this just last night who happens to find herself in a conservative Methodist congregation trying to flee these lunatics. They will not let them go so they have been forced to take class action lawsuit to escape. I find it hard to believe that most of these individuals aren't simply paid operatives.
Silly question maybe, but what’s to stop them from starting completely over? The sad thing is, I know on some level they can take a pastor out and put one in they agree with. I know on some level that pastor has to have approval of the congregation. The sad thing is is they did move they’d likely have to move out of the building right? I suppose if it was listed for sale, they could buy it back. Not a good way around it. But NO denomination shall have the right to withhold a churches desire to leave. Sad situation. I know the one in my hometown must have left before the issues hit the fan.

I Live in Missouri our bishop said there is a paragraph in the book of discipline that makes it possible to close the church buy back the church building to leave the conference .

This is no longer a church. For us old Methodists, this isn't even recognizable anymore. Get out quick. Whether or not you were able to disaffiliate prior to last December 31, this is no longer a place to be.

My little church is so small...25 to 30 members. church sits on a little hilltop with many Oak Trees, small cemetery. Founded in 1871. I was told that we will not pull away from UMC (for now). $$$$ is reason why I'm sure. Told we are going to "fly below radar." That never works...😡

Isn't this the same political brand of people who defend squatters? Maybe if the squatters first acknowledge their privilege and the land they stole from the rightful owners then there would be some consistency.

Not throwing the term “paganism” lightly, but the “…it is important to know on who’s land we are…” theme the whole conference centers on forgets 1 detail they seemingly forgot to mention. “The earth is the Lord’s and the fullness thereof, the world and who dwell within” Psalm 24:1. “ every beast of the forest is mine, the cattle on a thousand hills. I know all the birds of the hills, and all that moves in the field is mine. “If I were hungry, I would not tell you, for the world and its fullness are mine.” Psalm 50:10-12. “Who has first given to me, that I should repay him? Whatever is under the whole heaven is mine.” Job 41:11. “Now therefore, if you will indeed obey my voice and keep my covenant, you shall be my treasured possession among all peoples, for all the earth is mine;” exodus 19:5. Just for few. The land is not “theirs”, it’s the Lord’s. Not to ignore actual history of evil, but we’re seeing churches who claim to be churches yet absolutely believe the earth is theirs. They hold themselves in the position of creator and owner.
Have your general conference on a cruise ship on the ocean. Problem solved.

I did not leave over any sexual issues. I have actually been on both sides of the homosexual issue in my life. If the UMC chooses what they call tolerance regarding sexual orientation then they do. Some will agree with it, some won't.
But this "stand up to the microphone, announce your gender identity and sexual desires": how can this be a good thing?

I am currently serving a Presbyterian church. They do welcome homosexual clergy but at least the "Book of Order" is loaded with words like God, Christ, Jesus, Lord, Holy Spirit. Gender, color and sexual behavior are not front and center.
