Hi CS! Yeah its kinda weird the gilded coin has a lower resale premium then the BU. I guess there are many Kooks collectors out there and many of the BUs are already in their collection. So finding a BU with a reasonable price is really hard. I think its only going to get harder as PM continue with this series and more collectors get involved. Hi FS! Yeah some of the older issues do hold a steep premium, especially this 2004 coin. Other more recent ones usually retail just a little over spot 😀 They are high quality beautiful coins and so far, I have had no issues with milkspots. So they make great collector coins. Hi Aloha! Yeah the kooks are really great coins to collect. I started late and some of the earlier coins are really hard to find (there are quite a few listed on the secondary markets but they usually come with a steep premium). I do see special kook coins (gilded and privies) listed at much lower premiums. So its much easier to complete those series. Thanks for watching the video and posting a comment my friend. Perhaps the privies are less desirable among collectors. That being said, there are some privy kooks (like the European series) which are quite desirable and expensive. Very nice presentation .The 2005 gilded , 2006 gilded , 2007 gilded , have a gilded Kookaburra pin ,but the 2008 ANDA coin show gilded Kooka does not .

I am novice collector myself, but from what I see with PM gilded coins, they don't usually do as well as their regular counterparts. This 2004 kook is a good example. The same rule applies for privy-marked coins_ . _If you want to collect PM coins, my best advice is to start with the regular coins first. Once you have those, you can choose to expand the set by adding special, gilded or privy coins_ . Hope that answer your question. Cheers GB 😀

Instead of the bird on a pin, maybe they could have a mini kookaburra coin. I think that would have been awesome!! 👍🏻🤣

I only have one Kook it's the original 1990 I found in a junk container at a coin shop. It's in gem condition with nice toning, too.
