- The Kookaburra is a rare coin from the Perth mint. But what aren't they telling you about the coin? What secrets does the coin hide? Why is there a bird on it? How many of these coins are out there?

Haha kookaburra not boora, burra. Sorry just an aussie smiling at the pronounciation. Really great info mate. What i want to add is that several years ago they did restrikes of these. That annoyed many collectors greatly. The only way to tell the old ones are not restrikes is that they come in the square capsules you are showing.
Good to know :) I happened to come across them during a coin convention in Bern, a kind old man was looking to sell some pieces he collected over the years and I got them for about 30$ a piece, was really happy to pick them up.
It's killing me when he says it haha great video though thanks mate
I don't buy them. From the folks down under I am a fan of kangaroos, dragon bars and black flags. Yup you just heard that from a hillbilly from Ky. USA. Carry on mate.
@silverdave1125 Pronounce the u in Burra like you would in the word Up .
Love the Kookaburra. New subscriber supporting my fellow content creators
Thank you for this information, Silver Dave. 💕Also, loved hearing the kookaburra laugh❣️
Your pronunciation of kookaburra is hilarious
Love my kooks, fun fact was staying in south western Australia and had a kookaburra swoop down and steal my steak off the BBQ while it was cooking cheeky little things
Yep I was in Manjimup and a bastard kook took off with my $35 steak 😂 true
@Kayne Fryday lol yep I was at the karri valey resort he landed on the hot plate then took off with it, resilient little buggas
New here. I like the kooks and I do collect them, including those with privy-marks. Or at least I try to. Good show. Liked and subbed.
Thank you! Kooks are really cool, I hope one day I can complete a whole tube, but there aren't so many available around here so I pick them up when I can :)
STUNNING IN 10OZ AND 1 KG.
Great view on these coins. I’m 1oz away from a full serie of burras! Thanks for your video.
fun fact the Kookaburra although part of the kingfisher don't normally eat fish
Cook a bar rah. Now say that fast kookaburra now thats how its said. Here in aussie its tax free. I live 25 mins away from the perth mint
Great video
Nice. I have 15 complete sets plus some spares - Just over 500 Toz.
Got my first (2023) recently and loved it. So... I have a '22 and a '15 now already with others in the future!
Perth mint is the best and I love my Kook's
Cool
Nice video.
I recently sold some coins, some from kooka and koala.
And because mintage was low in 2018,2019 i got 40 Euro for example kooka 2019.
This is great when you think kooka is not a high premium coin, only 2 dollars more or so
Kookas are great snake protection/ hunters
Didn't know that! Good to know if I go to Australia that kooks will handle the snakes lol :)
Cook a burra not kook 😅 I love them my favourite Aussie coins
Do you have a 2015 10 oz kookaburra? Those are anniversary kookaburs so far I've only been able to get my hands on one
Picked up a 10oz 2015 for same price as a 10oz bar, right place at right time at my lcs.
Good deal I love my 10 oz anniversary issue kookaburra that coin celebrated 25 years
I got all 10oz except 2001, 2003 and 2007
Koo-kah bah-rah lol awesome birds, theyre brutal hunters in the wild.
I love the 1/10 oz. gold and platinum kooks
Isn't there a 1 kilo kook?
Who is they?
Just think about all the silver that was used to make all those silver eagles wow
Kookaburras live in the jungles of Africa. Whenever you watch a Tarzan movie you will hear one in the background, laughing. 😂

You cannot purchase kooks or swans anywhere for $5-10 above spot anywhere in the world! eBay is worse!
Where is the best place to buy these?
Look at professional dealers, e.g. on ebay in Australia for 10 oz Kookaburras and in the USA for 1 kg Kookaburras, both from 2006. Very low mintage.
@@brocken5342 how about the 2000 and 2004?
@@Kenlydford
2001 through 2006 vintages are hard to come by. If you can get a 10 oz under $450 and a 1kg under $1200, that's good. But make sure that the capsule is unopened and that there is no oxidation, milk stains or scratches on the coins. I just saw that a couple of 2006 Kookaburras are for sale right now. That's not often the case. The Mintage can be looked up on Wikipedia. Much luck!
@@brocken5342 the 2004 I saw at the Lcs looked good, was in the capsule but had a little oxidation on one small area of the reed and they wanted $96 for it. That seems a little much...
@@Kenlydford For 1 oz it would be expensive for 2 oz it would be cheap. What kind of kookaburra was it? With traces of oxidation, I wouldn't spend more than $35 an ounce.
Pronounce it like Cook Arr Bar Raa
@PoPpY , how insane are poppy prices at the moment?
@@GR19611 sky rocketing, I only have one, wish I had more
My 2020 high relief kookaburra is 9999's and only 5000 mintage
yOu are. not saying right. Its Kooka - BURRA!! not kookaboora.
Golden Gun from australia pointed it out to me haha :) I'll be working on pronouncing the kookaburra correctly :P
There is a third option: Buy lower premium silver like Britannias.
They are numismatic coins?
numismatic bullion coin
@@ulexite-tv it is not bullion, bullion rounds have no value on them, numismatic coins have a value eg 1 dollar, pound, whatever the currency of the country is! That’s why they have lower production?
2:28 no snakes and other reptiles
Surely you watch other American silver channels so why are you the only American in the world who struggles with it ?
Awesome Kooks!
Thanks!!!
