I thank you so much for everything you've done, and all the love you have put into your films and documentaries. Your years of dedication, and your love for Cloud, have really opened my eyes to these horses. What I REALLY love is the colouration of the horses as through the younger generations, without human manipulation, they revert back to their wild genetics. They all go back to the greuilla colours. Duns and greys with dorsal stripes and stripes on the knees and hocks. This is such a natural colouration!
Thank you so much for sharing a part of yourself with all of us here at utube. I loved your films so very much. And the way you narrated them was lovely. You have a real gift
I am a farmer in germany and I understand what you are saying but there are humane ways of land management. but what the major problem is that the horses land is being taken away from them and sold to oil companies ! use electric and gas together and save oil consumption. Diesel engines can also run on vegetable oil you know ! but then the oil companies would complain ! I know what is important in life and wild horse populations are more important than money !
I love the wild horses. What spirit! They're having a round up in Wyo. this week I think & I don't understand why they are able to round up the horses but no the elk, or the wolves, etc. And there are alot of animals & people that are not indigenous to the area of the world they are in. SO what?
+Crazyassfordgirl1993 Cloud is alive and well. He is a bachelor stallion again. The Cloud Foundation -- named after him -- posts updates on him on their website from time to time.
Yes, you are correct in the thinking that the human population is growing. Many countries have implemented methods of birthcontrol far more harsh than our own country's Birth Control classes. We have many shelters and services for those people unable to, or too lazy to, take care of themselves. Is it wrong to place an elderly loved one in a facility where they can be preoperly cared for?
Pinot mare horselover Trace is from the Pryors. Ginger owns several other Pryor horses including his birth sisters Smokey and Mahogany and half brother Sax. Trace was with his mother and stepfather Flash when he was removed as a yearling
the horses ARE indigenous and went extinct only to come back with the spanish. the roundup starts sometime after june 4th and ends by sept 30th 2012. they are using bait traps vs helicopter due to public outcry...anyone up for meeting me there to save the kids??
I don't think the horses could be near the pests that the deer & the turkeys are. I'm tired of repairing my vehicle from the deer and losing my sunflower crops to the turkeys.
yes it's wrong...family should take them in. they raised us and we abandon them oftentimes, because it's "inconvenient." how selfish we are! i'm disgusted. if you see "water for elephants," it starts with the old man going to the circus at night and the clerk wants to send him back to the nursing home. the man relates how none of his five children will take him in and they alternate seeing him on weekends. he sounds so sad and it's heartbreaking.
@littlebrowntexan I didn't waste my time to read anything you wrote, but I'd like to inform you that they are PRACTICING using infertility drugs on horses because they are about to use them on US.
It is true. Are you telling me that if animals are confined to an area and left unchecked that the ecosystem will stay balanced? I am a horse owner and have adopted and trained mustangs for many years. I feel with my heart, but think with my mind
Well the problem is that often animals that are not indigenous to the area mess up the balance of that natural environment. Australia is a prime example: there cuddly bunny rabbits have become a huge environmental problem. I mean the problem is (as usual) with humans who don't understand the complexity of the natural equilibrium and mess it up by acting irresponsibly. Anyway I don't think horses are a pest in the US, but their population might need to be monitored.
Seems kinda cruel to take folks that have lived their lives and put them in a "holding pen" to await their end don't ya think. But as you stated, "law of nature rules, for it is natural. the strong survive"
If we do not control the population of these animals living in the wild it will result in overpopulation leading to starvation, disease, injury, and other less than desirable ends to these magnificent creatures. It will also lead to overgrazing, soil erosion, plant eradication and many more environmental tragedies.
Well horses were brought to America by the European conquerers recently. They are NOT an endemic species and they could still pose a danger to local ecology: a couple hundred years is not normally enough to find a balanced niche. The issue gets controversial when the territory occupied by horses is claimed for cattle grazing: when money gets involved things get hazy. So you are right to question things, but keep in mind that the horse's presence in the US in the first place is not "natural".
You have No clue what you are talking about!!! First off people had thought that the Spanish Conquistadors had introduced the Wild horses to North America, when they had only reintroduced the Native Wild horses to their Native home in North America where they originally come from. And Scientists have proven that Our Wild horses we have today are in fact Native Wild horses that survived the cooling of the Planet and evolved into the Wild horses we have, they used to be the Tiny Tropical horses which there were 4 different types of the Tiny Tropical horses that evolved as quickly as the earth cooled into the Native Wild horses we have today they became larger and became the fastest land mammal because they are a pray animal they needed to be faster to outrun their predators and as the Tropical Plants died out during the cooling grasses took the place of the tropical plants and the evolved Tiny Tropical horses that became larger and faster evolving and began grazing on the new Native Wild grazing grasses. And Our Native Wild horses and burros have been around for millions of years actually and evolved as the Planet cooled into Our Native Wild horses and Wild burros that run wild and Free today! And the Native American Indian people know that they are Native Wild horses and burros and have been here for millions of years, I am Native American and I was told this by Indian Ancestors. Read up and educate on the truth Our Wild horses and Wild burros are Native Wildlife to North America. People within Government and those that want to get rid of Wildlife so they don't have to compete with Wildlife to be able to use Public lands and ranges for financial benefit at the cost of Our Wildlife and their living Wild and Free that also want taxpayers money handouts the Government and those that are branches of Government and those that have conflicts of interest with Our Native Wild horses and Wild burros and other Wildlife and the health of the environments will lie for financial benefits to get what they want and have no morals or guilt in causing the Extinction of Our Wild horses and Wild burros and other Wildlife species or guilt in causing the damage and degradation that their Cattle and Sheep and Big Oil/Gas/Drilling/Fracking/Mining etc and Global warming that they are causing it's the lies and damage and degradation pollution that the GREEDY dirty human entities are responsible for all of it, Not Our Native Wild horses and Wild burros and other Wildlife species, everything that is causing damage and degradation and pollution is the fault of the dirty greedy lying humans that are lying and blaming Our Wild horses and Wild burros that are the real problems that are responsible!!!
Kelli, you are right on all counts. Appreciate those like you who get the facts out. We need more who will stand up for wild horses and tell the truth.
@@kellimc8595 Re-read your comment, one of the best ones I've read. How are you feeling about the roundups in progress right now? Piceance at 794 caught, 153 being foals? So many roundups, so many deaths, sadness, injuries, mares in the middle of birthing, foals never to recover after running on newborn soft feet.... Is there anything you are doing to protest this that I can support you with?
buy 10 acres of undeveloped grass land and put 1 mare and 1 stallion capable of reproduction on it and leave them alone. See how long that 10 acres can sustain them and their offspring. Now multiply that by a factor of 1000 and you have what will happen if herds are not managed. Yes there are plenty of other types of herbivores out there but their populations are controlled via wildlife management measures....
which fate is more horrible, a humane euthanization or starvation, disease, and suffering the elements? Take both a male and female horse capable of reproduction and place them in your back yard. see how long it takes overpopulation of an area to have an adverse effect. While I believe there must be a solution I am open minded enough to consider all options, not just mine. Remember it is hard to weigh the facts when your scales are loaded with opinions.
