Thankyou ..!! It’s such an isolating job, to work for one’s self … I love hearing from others who are real about it .. great content.. Big love ❤ from a fellow photographer in Tasmania Australia 🇦🇺
welcome back lady, building my photography career was a fun thing to give me purpose but a legacy is built on the education part personally I think, I teach and still cover the occasional commercial type client, but the teaching has been the greatest joy, being able to sculpt the next generation of creatives, to give them the knowledge they need to do what they want knowledge is power, sharing knowledge is empowering - Uncle Andrew long ago, from south africa
Your Channel is going to grow very fast, i learnt a lot from Scott and i have a feeling your channel is going to be as informative as his is but from a whole new perspective. Love it cant wait for more videos.
Great video, many, many good points here. Yes, I guess most of photographers are quite lonely, as many musicians too! To succeed you need hours, and hours of studying and practicing to master the craft.
Been a photographer for 18 years and shifting to fashion has uncovered an entire new passion for me. It’s tough but it is really rewarding. (Not financially yet lol)
i started out wanting to be a fashion photographer, forcing myself to like the fashion industry , the clothes , the models , the talents ...i couldnt , 22 years later im settled in nicely as a still life photographer .. the whole fashion world just isnt for me
great positive video, but one other joy, as you are a 'pro' you get pro discounts !! esp. with film, printing, etc. so you can get to use the supplies that you want to, so increasing the joy you have with this pursuit, as this means you can create better work, get more film, etc.
Purpose. I think that is the one thing that my photography has been lacking if I'm honest. I'm not a professional photographer and I don't think I want to become one. But I do feel that my photography lacks purpose. Some of the time I don't even enjoy it that much, and surely as a hobbyist that is the main reason for pursuing it! I think I need to sit down and have a good old chat with myself and find out what it is that I want to achieve. You have a new subscriber by the way.. ME!! 😁😁
Brilliant advice. I don't earn from my photography but I love doing it and working with so many creative awesome people. Oh and it helps me deal with my serious sight loss, yep half blind and I take photos I'm weird
Another great story - thank you for sharing. A lot of it resonates. One thing I’d love to hear about is how to get yourself “seen/noticed” in this day and age. I’ve been working on my brand for a few years, but heavily in 2024 by hiring models and studios and have built a strong portfolio. But I can’t get it seen. Brands mostly ignore me. Getting social media reach seems impossible. It’s exhausting and I’ve considered giving up a dozen times. I just don’t get how pictures that get such a positive reaction from the people in them, along with the experience of working with me which is met with high praise, seems to get me absolutely and literally nowhere.
@@jodiemannphotography ah that would be super Jodie. I’d certainly appreciate that. I expect you’ve been there at some point and may be able to help. The last reaction I got by a photo events coordinator was “your pictures look like a cover of Vogue. How can you only have 500 followers?!”. I hear things like that a lot. But I just can’t spin it into a funnel that goes the other way around where folks are asking to hire me. So I will look forward to your production if you get chance. Thank you
Great advice, not my genre but interesting to hear about photography from a different perspective that is not geared orientated. Would love to hear about why you take certain images and what your vision is and why
Whoop whoop 🎉
Your work is breathtaking
So so proud of you girl. You're so engaging and easy to listen to. Wise words imparted 🙌
awesomeness
Thankyou ..!!

Solid reassuring advice. Some very familiar feelings in there.

Great question. It’s undoubtedly gotten harder for photographers to get noticed, more than ever. I’ll do a video on this really soon.

Thanks for the comment! I’ll be posting some case studies really soon that will take you through the process behind the idea, keep an eye out! 😊
Thanks for this Jodie 💐
The Imposter Syndrome for me is definitely real.
What do you mean by "curator"?
Thanks a lot for sharing your story, how can I reach out ?

Whoaaa, I never meant to braaag
But I got him where I want him now!
Whoaaa, it was never my intention to braaag, to steal it all away from you now!
the introduction of AI to photography or in the arts industry in general is so scary
Your glasses glare distracted me like 70%.
Been at it 35 years now - wouldn't have done anything else - get real job? No thanks
