We added them because common sense tells us that paying people $700 mo to do the "same job" as ones you're paying $700 week, plus regulations for safety, insurance, EPA pollution regulations but still sell that same product for the same price, or slightly less to sell more, then the corporation will ALWAYS pick the cheapest labor/overhead costs. That's just "good business". Tariffs are used to keep the higher paying labor markets of the western countries still viable and competitive with the world's lower labor costs. All of the "free market" trade just decimates the higher paying western workers because there are no tariffs the companies have to pay to import the goods making them much, MUCH cheaper to get to market. The reason why the corporations are returning is that for the past 50 years our once strong labor force is now as weak as a newborn kitten, the pay scales have dramatically dropped, benefits are pretty much nill, and now we even have to pay tens of thousands of dollars for the training they used to provide themselves for their workforces. So, yes, Trump is just another company CEO for his businesses and he does take every break the laws allow him to to make as much money as possible. I am literally worried for our American businesses who have expanded into multinational markets because of this foolery, and I hope it comes to an end soon. US steel companies will be the winners. However, any industries that relate to steel will be losers; such as construction, car makers, ship, airplanes, machinery and industries. They are facing layoff and inflation. Win small and lose big.

First he said TPP wouldn't work, then he said he's for TPP. He's flip flopping like a catfish on a boat deck before our very eyes. Living in Europe, from a selfish perspective Trumps trade antics irritate me because in my middle class existence I will be deprived of the goodies imported from my US homeland like beef, sweet potatoes, spirits, and textiles. I can get those imports from other countries, but there was a sense of pride I felt in being able to walk into shops and find things that were American imports, and see how those products were welcomed and integrated into shop culture here. But from a more introspective point of view which considers the livlihood of the farmers and US business involved, now I think of all our smaller US businesses that will be socked in the gut by this, essentially rendering Trump's tax cuts cancelled out while simultaneously putting their businesses at risk. I am literally worried for our American businesses who have expanded into multinational markets because of this foolery, and I hope it comes to an end soon. Beyond that, it seems pretty disingenuous for Trump to exert this level of focus on creating the illusion he's bringing steel back, when he himself admittedly has does not use American steel for his own building projects. This man and his Pied Piper Politricks are going to lead America to hell in a hand basket...not to mention potentially spark a world economic crisis that potentially sets the stage for another world war.
