In the darkest age of Japan, endless war leaves a country divided. It is the middle of the 16th Century in Feudal Japan. The country, once ruled by a unified government, is now split into many warring clans. Ten legendary warlords strive for supremacy as conspiracies and conflicts wither the empire. Only one will rise above all to win the heart of a nation as the new shogun...The others will die by his sword.
Take on the role of one Daimyo, the clan leader, and use military engagements, economics and diplomacy to achieve the ultimate goal: re-unite Japan under his supreme command and become the new Shogun - the undisputed ruler of a pacified nation.

When playing with Chosokabe, I used to leave my Myoshi neighbour in peace and when I start expanding they always break all the agreements and declare war on next turn because of "threat of attack". It seems to happen when you start with a neighbour in an isolated region and you start expanding.
once you occupy too many trade nodes the ai will refuse to sign trade agreement with you. if that happens, temporarily moving the trade ships out of the nodes helps reducing their "resistance" against signing treaty. after that you can move the ships back to the nodes and reap the profit :)

Also if a trade node route gets raided by an enemy ship, you can remove the trade ships and put them back on and the AI is no longer raiding your trade route. If they don't raid the route after you hit next turn, you'll get the money for it.
A little bit more detailed explanation is AI refusing to trade with clans that will give them a very negative trade balance (you sell them lots of things and they don't sell you lots of things). With the putting ships out of trade nods for an agreement trick, the AI will most of the time break the agreement the next turn. But sometimes they don't (especially if you have warhorses).

I've done it on legendary... I try to get a naban quarter at the +accuracy providence to make cannons. Cannons force the AI to charge you every battle even if you attack. Naban trade ships makes water battles super easy. Missionaries are badass also for inciting revoltes and converting towns even before you invade.
Without bow warrior monks though siege battles are harder BUT all you need to do is siege them out. Waiting them out gives your missionaries a few more turns to convert the population anyway. If you don't care about destroying the walls (I try to leave castle's intact when I take one) then cannons can destroy gates and archer towers for you.
Would you say that a Christian Shimazu Campaign is easier, or harder than a non-Christian one? I hope to play Shogun 2 soon so I'd like to know what people think.
@@Chimeraguard-iv6uc Hard to say... IMO they're about the same. As Christian it might be slower overall because you have to convert provinces.

Oh yeah, i forgot last episode, but here is a curiosity. Your first general, the Tanegashima you were wondering about last time, is most likely the lord of the island to the south of Kyushu. In FotS Tanegashima itself starts as a vassal of the Satsuma so it's good assumption.
For the Shimazu gunners, I guess after the campaign you could do a custom battle with them in army composition you would have used and do commentary on that. Don't know if that would get enough views to be worth it, but it would take less time than doing whole let's play.

Please don't stay on kyushu for ever. It's not really necessary to wait for the best units with your skill in battles I don't think. Keep the momentum going, maybe even lose a battle haha. Keep up the awesome content, Groetjes!
Oda: you guys have sea trade route?
You could try to basically jump over or speed through the next turns while you get the gunpowder mastery tech. That way you could condense maybe a few hours of pressing next turn into 10 minutes or less.

Ngl, the title could’ve been “commerce commence!” Or flip the words around to “commence commerce!” Not sure if it’s better but I like it
So, I like to do this goofy thing where I take multiple Nanban Trade Ports as Shimazu, but I stay Buddhist. The trick I found is to build one yourself first, then take one owned by whatever local likely Christian clan. Then, let that clan have another province with a port and hope they build a new one there. My record so far is 3. I almost had a 4th once, but got unlucky.
It's silly and unnecessary, but I love doing it. So many trade routes!!!! It does get a bit annoying with religion. I end up having to plant multiple monks in those ports until more religion tech/buildings are available. :)

Shimazu is my most played clan in Shogun 2 but I have never convert to Christianity.
Edit: I'm one of those people who binge watches a lets play, so...yeah.

What I don't enjoy at all as the Shimazu is that before you even reach mainland Japan most of the big clans are dead and you end up fighting against one very powerful clan and as all the clans have the same units there isn't even any color variety anymore.

Great stuff. I started getting into Shogun 2 again and I'm definitely taking some tips from your playtrought. I wish you didn't make your Steam account private tho.. anyways, I see you are uploading non-total war games now which is sad. I hope you find a total war to enjoy and do campaigns in.. maybe warhammer 2 or some other new one.
Whenever i can build ship, any kind of ship, i have one to reach Date and i try to make trade agreement asap, lol. Playing Shimazu let you be rich as well as get well-upgraded units very soon.

I do indeed use that mouse, but I actually don't have any keybinds/macros set for the mouse on Shogun 2. I only ever really use those in MMOs and similar games where being quick on the keys is a necessary.

Yeah, exactly, although now that you mention it, it might not be a bad idea to put those on the mouse. I might have a look at that sometime.

1:00 this makes literally 0 difference unless one of the trade ports gives more. The numbers are all equal. 3 turns after this turn, you will have had 4 “ticks” with trade from a node. Ticks being a turn with trade from an individual node. The real question is whether it makes more sense to stack one node with multiple ships first and I think that answer is no.

I think my last 20 campaigns have used mods in some capacity, but I’m guessing you mean overhaul mods, which I talked about in the first episode, and the answer was yes.

If you want to see harder campaigns, watch my challenge campaigns, not these regular ones. What are usefull things about christianity in shogun 2
Basically just Nanban trade ships. They’re amazing, but not good enough to single handidly make the hassle with it.
Well the bonuses Christians get aren't bad at all. The Nanban trade port is useful especially if you start on Kyushu or Shikoku. Early access to imported matchlock units gives you an interesting style of play. European cannons have some niche use, they're certainly far better than mangonels and you don't need any tech or other recruitment buildings (aside from nanban trade quarter, but that doesn't take up a building a slot) to get them. Nanban trade ships dominate the sea, second only to the Black Ship.
The problem is what you lose for going christian. 2 honor lost in the early game is significant. No access to warrior monks or anything related to them (holy site bonuses). Diplomacy penalties with all clans. And the most significant, the need to convert the provinces you conquer to your religion.
Since Imported Matchlocks only give you an edge in the early game and you're generally restricted to one Nanban port per faction (there are ways to work around this and acquire multiple but they're extremely tedious and definitely can be considered cheese), it's really just weighing the value of Nanban Trade Ships vs all those penalties.

Go into diplomacy, click on another clan with a valid trade route, and ask them to trade. Basically just watch this video and you'll see me do it a few times, although to be fair in this video I don't think anyone actually wants to trade with me, but if you check my recent Takeda campaign I do it plenty in that.
Don't forget to assign jobs for the boys donkey your bleeding cash in this campaign I'm not used to seeing you play like me
