Eliminate the need for the 5nm entirely, add $50 or a hundo to the bundle price and include the 8nm power supply off the rip. It lets you set FFB intensity so it can always be backed off. But I definitely think it’s worth the extra monies.

The 180 watt psu is not worth 150 dollar/euro, but the cls dd with 90 watt psu is worth more than 350. I guess fanatec knows 90% of the 5nm owners will eventually buy the boostkit. Smart marketing? I dont know... I think 400 dollar for the 5nm version and 80 for the boostkit would have been better. Paying 150 for a psu feels like a scam, even if you got the cls dd for 350.

@@JoseFcoBN it shouldn't be a question of $100 more though. it's what the base is designed for. we'd all gladly get it for $350 total as well, but it's not too sustainable for the company of at least they wouldn't make much profit.
plus, not like they even offer a 350 csl dd except for at launch, or do they?

I think the reason they have it like this 5vs 8nm is that the base itself is not that big of a margin at its 5nm base price. So just selling the 8nm at 350 would not be an option, they probably need to charge 399 or even 449 to cover development if all units are 8nm...and now instead they can give a base at 349€ at all but, at the extra 150€ you get the full fat 8nm. So basically, 8nm they would sell for 429-449 is my guess but instead they can offer a 5nm version 349€and still make money by selling the 8nm version at 499.
But I think I remember when the wheel came out the 8nm was at 449 already....the boost kit seperatly was 50€ more than buying it in a bundle

I know this is an older video but I wanted to write my opinions about the so called boost kit. It's too expensive and if you really want it, just get one of those cheaper 24v 180W PSUs on Amazon eBay or whatever because that's what it essentially is. As for me who plans to use the wheel with the desk clamp, I'd rather not risk it with 8nm and keep it at the default 5nm, it will still be a huge upgrade compared to my current 180° rotation wheel that only has vibration or in other words no force feedback at all. I believe the CSL DD Ready 2 Race bundle is a way better value compared Logitech G29 and similar non DD wheels especially for someone like me who is not a serious sim racer but would rather do it just for some fun from time to time, I also play games from other genres so I won't be using the wheel all the time. Also I like the fact that again unlike Logitech G29, this would give me the option to upgrade the the pedals by adding load cell brake or getting other wheel rims down the line. I'd probably start with the default bundle option and then maybe later down the line get the McLaren GT3 wheel for F1, GT3 and other vehicles that use similar style wheel while keeping the default one for everything else that uses a regular wheel.

  • @GregoryShtevensh
    @GregoryShtevensh 9 месяцев назад +1

That's the thing. Power is a sum of both torque, and speed (revolutions per minute).
I went from the G29 2.2nm to the CSL DD 5nm. And the power didn't feel like double... It felt like triple! And I wasn't sure how that was possible, as many times the power was equivalent. But during high torque moments, it was getting the forces that would clip on a G29, and at the faster speeds, this meant an increase in overall power output, regardless of the torque increase!
It seems to rotate roughly twice as fast, and has roughly twice the torque.
So the power end up being significantly higher than double when ot comes to the output in watts for example

I did upgrade from my servo from Fanatec CS2.5 to 5nm DD and i was disappointed. Force of that new DD felt weak but it feels way smooter. I just dont like to pay 150$ for small power supply.

  • @fursphere2

The power supply that comes with the CSW v2.5 is the exact same model number as the CSL DD "Boost Kit". Looks like they changed the barrel connector to a 4-pin connector on the CSL DD, but otherwise, its the same PSU. Endor6200-2400750P 24v, 7.5A (Based on what I can see in the video and what I'm reading on my own CSW v2.5 PSU)
What makes this a bit confusing is now you have two different products (different connectors) with the exact same part number.

  •  2 года назад

Peaks are important in FFB and motion systems.
However its important to call things by their proper name and this is maybe where people are upset with the "Boost Kit". It's not a kit, its just a larger capacity AC to DC inverter or a typical switching power supply. That's it. And 180W @ 120V is also not that much power and it has no safety states or additional capacitors to handle repeated peak power draw. For comparison reasons a Dell AC adapter sells for about the same or $120 USD. An industrial power inverter with regen absorption, over-voltage/current detection and protection, EMI filtering, soft-start protection, and a wider AC input range at 225W continuous power goes for about $200. :-P

And you might want to buy a metal quick release for another 100$ (!!!), because with the boost kit even at 60-70% force the wheel clicks sometimes and makes you worried when the quick release will break. By the way I'm using a table clamp and I don't have more problems with the desk moving than I had with the G25, so the table clamp is fine.
