So glad I pulled in a 1st Class rtn Derby-Plymouth on this 4 days before its final run. Overnight in Plymouth and back on the 15.32. A brilliant 2 days for ny 67th birthday pressy.
Getting rid of the Most comfortable InterCity Trains running on UK Rails, i remember seeing 253002 when it was on a Test run on the Western Region in 1976,Looked amazing and still to this day, They are still amazing, oh well at least Scot Rail still has a few.
Farewell CrossCountry Class 43. At least GWR and ScotRail are keeping some of their HSTs. And some have been preserved on various heritage railways in the UK.
@@12crepello....they should now be electrifying more of the network. It seems funny replacing one type of diesel with another type. It is sad to see the 125's disappearing from the network (as passenger trains). But they (all the rail franchises, together with the government) should now be focusing on electrifying more rail lines. Instead we have an inactive government that makes up any old excuses they can to avoid having to do the above; and we have rail franchises that don't communicate with each other. Just mad.
@@robtyman4281 Couldn't agree more. It's down to the government unfortunately and that old adage.....MONEY! Taxpayers in this country in general see money spent on the railways as a waste. Plus the incredible scenario of DBCargo stopping the use of electric locos in favour of diesel due to high energy costs. You couldn't make it up!
Britain has destroyed everything that was good! These trains were the most iconic vehicles in the world, and...we smash them up to be replaced by utter crap😅 What's wrong with our Governments and greedy business? This is utter criminality.

Had the pleasure of riding this from Sheffield. Very strange to think it was my last one!
One last smooth ride!
Sad to think we will soon never see these incredible trains on the mainline again.
Very true. and with nothing to replace them there's going to be some serious overcrowding.
