Sometimes I do get kicked but horses aren't just out to kick a farrier all the time. A horse may kick if they feel threatened by something or if they are uncomfortable and become impatient. For those instances it helps to be familiar with horses and the signs they give you. My job when shoeing isn't to train the horse but I still approach every horse I work on like a horse trainer. Meaning I go at the pace that the horse needs in order to feel comfortable and for me to be safe all while getting the job done. Great question!
