The first time I saw a Friesian horse I was visiting the home of a new friend who had just moved into town. I grew up around horses so I was very used to them but her horses were something I had never seen before. They were as black as night and they looked like they had just stepped out of a fairy tale. They were Friesian Horses. If you have ever had the chance to see one in person they are quite a visual treat. It also begs the question, how much do they cost?

Interesting, non of the horses on this video is an Friesian horse, lol. If you wanna see real quality pure bred Friesians and learn about this breed? Than go to the channel Friesian Horses/ Stal G. 👋🌞🇳🇱

I was going to say the same thing! I didn't see very many Friesians in that video. Also, I agree, Friesian Horses and Yvonne are the best!

I didn't see any Friesians here, either. The legs, feet, ears, and necks on the horses in this video were all wrong. Color is jet black, ONLY. (A very healthy horse might show slight dappling in sunlight, however.) White is allowed on the face, but only a very small spot (smaller than the length of your thumb) on the forehead, and only above the eyeline. The breed standard for the Netherlands stud book are online, and easy to find, and any purebred animal will come close to those standards just as a matter of genetics . A Friesian is not just any old black horse!
I also recommend Yvonne's channel, "Friesian Horses".

I follow Yvonne’s “Friesian Horses” RUclips channel every day and I also saw no Friesian horses in this video with the exception, perhaps, of the foal at the beginning of the video. The adult horses might have some Friesian blood but they are far from being purebred.

pardon, but your Fresian horse video seems to be missing actual Fresian horses
Might want to go research that all over again and fix it
Friesians are also from Friesland in the Netherlands.

0:35 wrong, please delete 'Holland', as Friesland is a province in the Netherlands. Holland is the two provinces North Holland and South Holland combined. Holland is often used as an alternative for the Netherlands, but Holland is only a part. The part with the most know tourist attractions, therefor sometimes the Netherlands and Holland are used in the same way. But still incorrect when talking about the entire country or other provinces.

I agree with you all. These are NOT Friesian horses. Friesian horses, among other things, do not have white spots on their foreheads. So this is false information. There are as many videos as possible on RUclips about this beautiful, intelligent and wise horse. But search for Stal de Mersken located in Siegerswoude in Friesland Netherlands.

    • @Silkendrum

Breed standards do allow mares (but not stallions) a white star above the eyeline and no larger than 3.2 centimeters.

I will never understand why a stallion would cost more than a mare, especially since you do not need that many stallions to keep the breed alive. Friesians are so cute though.

I think it is partly sexism and partly because the female can die giving birth while a male can continually breed offspring throughout his life.

Yess, and thèn the terrible backyard breeding started, with awefull inbred health issues, fathers on daughters, sons on mothers, brothers on sisters etc... Fortunately the breeders who are involved in the KFPS breeding program to minimize the genepool as much as possible. Today they age beautifully up in their 20 like other large horse breeds. 🌞🇳🇱

Hiii everyone, let ne explain about here: The channel host is perfectly aware of all mis-information, he/she/ they did this to lure us to click on the video to climb in views. I'm moderator of Friesian Horses channel and I recognize what this channel is up to. The more we like ( I didn't give it an like) view and comment, the more it will rise in our recomms. Vèry smart indeed, but please notice that most of it is mis-information plucked from internet and most of that info is out dated, as with aging till 16? Well the ones who are wellknown in the Friesian breed are aware that that had to do with the terrible backyard breeding after WW2, when only 3 stallions were left. Back then they did not breeding with minimum in genepool but bred with parents/ sibblings to get as much horses, ànd money as they could. Terrible health issues occured but they continued breeding that way, even today these health issues can take an live of an Friesian horse, same as with other species like cats, dogs etc. Breeders who are involved in the KFPS breeding program are aware to minimize the genepools to get stronger and healthy horses.
The breed is Dutch & Royal and the second Dutch Royal breed are the KWPN or Dutch Warmbloods.
For more common sense and articulate info about the magnificent Friesians, go to the website of KFPS ( also to read in english ;) and learn more yourself. I'm moderator for Friesian Horses Channel/ Yvonne Horjus- Follow The Herd Community and hàd to step in to inform you about the mis-information under this video. Hopefully see you there.👋🌞🇳🇱

I've noticed that "RoyalFriesianKFPS" the official body for putting horses in studbook and giving premium awards has put many videos on RUclips lately of the Inspections, and awarding the stallion Champions of the year. Some very, very long as you can sometimes catch them live on RUclips. I sat through 8 hours of one once!

    • @LindaEll89
      @LindaEll89 2 года назад

That hàd due to tremendous backyard inbreeding breeders, with zero understanding of genepools. So father on daughter, son on mother etc... with lot's of inbred health issues..that has still an enormous impact on the Friesian breed. Nowadays breeding is like rocket science, with good management and common sense. There are Stables who are involved in an project to keep the Friesian breed with minimums in the genepools and in this way breeding health issues out what caused they died at 16. Nowadays they age beautifully in their 20's. 🌞🇳🇱
