Mithun can be regarded as the most important animal in Arunachal Pradesh that have a huge social and cultural importance with most tribes here. It even carries a high economic value as many tribes exchange Mithun in same manner like financial and gift transactions. However, due to their rampant killing now a days, mainly for ceremonial and consumption purpose, population of Mithun may very well be approaching towards extinction level in nearby future. Also, not only Mithun, but there are many other forest animals and birds that will soon become extinct for the same ceremonial and consumption purpose. Mass awareness today is a must in order to stop their extinction.
