    Those swamp coolers work very well in hot, dry environments. The less humidity in the air, the better they work

    Don't cut out the garage door. It has multiple segments, and you can easily purchase different segments to match the top segment with the openings. Just replace the other segments with segments with openings already in them. It's non-destructive and you can replace them with the original segments at a later date.

    humidity is not a factor until you are over 80% just so you know. You have nothing to worry about

  • @fullyelectric
    @fullyelectric 29 дней назад +7

    @redpandamining dude i truly think its worth it for 88+* days, and since it lowers the ambient temperature, you are saving on electric from the miners so it may even payback for itself , too bad you did not record how much wattage all the miners was using before and after, still base on the fan speed dropping at the miners you are saving something.

    The evaporative cooler works well with an airconditioner or a portable air conditioner. The AC will suck all of the humidity out. Running the evaporater in a closed space without AC to extract the humidity will increase the humidity to the point you feel stuffy and you feel the floor damp (but it looks dry). I live near the equator, by default without anything on the humidity is 60+ % and when it rains goes up to 75%.

    I use one of those for my farm in my house!! If you dump big blocks of ice in the top it’ll keep it frosty

      not sure the temp of the water matters as it is evaporation that is causing the cooling

    • @That1Techyking
      @That1Techyking 29 дней назад

      @@kyleroads3244 it does cause as it goes through the cooler the water the cooler the air coming off, also the water that doesn’t evaporate is holding some of the heat.

    • @TrashSkill
      @TrashSkill 29 дней назад

      @@kyleroads3244 The melting of the ice also takes a lot of energy, so the temp drops for melting the ice and evaporating the water. The result is a lower temp at the fan exit

    There are AC units for camping tents that sit outside and duct work can be run through the window.

    Just in case the evaporative cooler does not work out in the long term, here's a quick tip: instead of cutting out more passive intake slots in your garage door, you can put an intake fan in one of the slots instead, and make sure it matches the CFM of your exhaust fan. It will even out the pressure in your basement and you'll get WAY more airflow. Good luck! :)

      Active Intake would be Huge here.
      Maybe you can put a Shelf infront of the Garage door and put 4 10" AC Infinity Inline Fans on the inside of that garage door at those windows. Suck in a ton of air.
      Right now your garage is drinking through a strawl.

  • @stephenarmstrong1681
    @stephenarmstrong1681 29 дней назад +1

    Watch those humidity levels. I feel like a couple mini splits would be safer albeit higher on the power consumption side.

  • @oceanbreeze369
    @oceanbreeze369 29 дней назад

    If you had a window or roof unit they would drop the temp 15 to 20 degrees. Having that cheap standup unit won't work as well but the power it saves on your over all rigs and miners will more than pay for itself. The humidity is ok as long as you don't let the unit get too close to your rigs and miners. I tried to tell you this years ago ahahaha. Cheers!

    Get a dehumidifier also and see if that makes it better as they work better in dryer temps, although not sure if the heat from the dehumidifier would cancel out the cooling from the Swamp Cooler.
    But it would be a fun experiment :)

  • @TotaleCryptoMining
    @TotaleCryptoMining 28 дней назад

    Down here in the swamp, as you know. I keep a dehumidifier running at about 50% all year round and my ASICS and GPUs are perfectly fine. Even in the hottest days 👍🏻

  • @ronwatkins5775
    @ronwatkins5775 29 дней назад +1

    Also, did you measure the ASIC power consumption to see if the reduction in fan speed makes up for the extra wattage of the swam cooler?

  • @ChzimpO
    @ChzimpO 29 дней назад

    i seriously hope this doesn't cause you too much humidity, and if you don't run your full intake through something like his i doubt your ever going to get solid results. your exhaust fans move how much air and your trying to run that cooler basically in an airway but you have 90% of the air going around the cooler. (think being in the car when its hot, doesn't work very well when you have the window cracked)

    All metal parts will rust faster, with normal humidity they already rust because of the temperature of the machines, ASICS have an operational humididy don't go over it, you have to decide what is worst hight temperature or humidity. Thanks for sharing.

    Why don't you create a temporary intake wall built around your garage door in the up position? All you would need is 2x4s, maybe some shuttered/louvred vents, and some filters.

    Really depends on how much it cost to run over regular fans. I have found just moving the air works almost as well as cooling the air and cost less to run. I honestly wouldn't want to add moisture to the air unless I was in a desert environment..... Also you need a PEX Sharkbite to make that water line work in the ceiling.
