Eh I disagree, that's true with catless that it needs a resonator and muffler but most cars that run a high flow sound pretty clean, even my 1.5t Si sounds good with one and I ended up taking the muffler of my catback, still zero rasp
These trucks run so much better with a good exhaust system and no cats lmao! My 92 has no cat too a super 10 dualed out the side and sounds really good!
The new cat definitely makes a difference, but I'm guessing that original cat was in dire need of replacement anyway, so that may have exaggerated things.
Yup, those cats are terrible, mine broke to pieces, sounded terrible and eventually began choking the engine. I tore them off, took them in for some cash, took the cash and had pipes welded in their place - truck runs better than ever
Thanks I was deciding if I wanted a hi flow on the 1989 blazer I'm gonna build and sidepipe and after hearing this I'm definitely putting a hi flow on!
I have flowmaster 40 series on my 90 k1500 still have stock cats and resonators..sounds smooth and deep just how i like it,no rasp..im putting jegs headers on it and putting a high flow cat im keeping my resonator..i want it a little louder not much..
Don't have to go name brand either. Allied signal makes high flow cats for alot of aftermarket kits or just as a single unit. You're welcome. 200 cell and above will flow alot more than oem.
I have an OBS yukon with 2 flowmaster 40's and 5 inch angle cut tips with no cats and its nasty. No cats is how I roll, but if I had to get a converter it would be a high flow model for sure.

i have a 1970 torino with a mildly modified 351 cleveland ,,,,it has straight pipe and suoer turbo muflers ...if i add high flow cats will it make my car quieter .....i am looking for more quiet
Yes, I put Magnaflow 53956 cats on my 03 mustang gt (bought it w/a off road h-pipe) and it’s a lot more quiet, almost disappointing. It still sound good though.
I hate converters and emissions. But if u want more flow better sound and more response in gas pedal hi flow cats are the way to go. If u really want power pre emissions vehicles are for you.
Any car can run tuned with no cats, you just have to have em on to pass emissions. I have a friend with a 2001 Saleen Mustang. He literally cat deleted every year til he had to pass emissions, got a shop to rig it up to pass, then dumped the cats again right after. He wanted that car to STAY catless, period. We are in Georgia.
What’s up my guy .. I swear you guys do the best work should consider opening a shop in MS. Anyway I ordered a Borla pro XS for the 2016 Escalade just to make it sound deeper than factory . My muffler guy ask if I wanted to cut that muffler/ resonator looking canister coming out the back just before the exhaust tip and run a dual tip out the side . I think that will look nice but I don’t want get a drone just to make it look nice. Will cutting that canister off cause drone or perhaps make it sound even better ?
Appreciate the kind words, deleting the Resonator would make the borla come alive. Also borla is good for cutting down on drone. It would look good and sound good with a dual tip out the side. My recommendation is go for it. Just save the Resonator, just in case you don’t like it
I like the addition of the Hi-Flow, gives a little more aggressiveness, but needs a H-Pipe to clean the rasp sound.

H pipe on a single exhaust? Lol
it's a y-pipe. can't do an h-pipe unless you true dual it. but it won't sound good unless you equalize both banks.
I love the rasp
3:40 2nd exhaust system setup made OBS Chevy Stepside kustom real good launch off was smooth

Does it stink? And have you had a code to fix an o2 sensor?
Not the sound that I enjoy, but am happy for you.👍Enjoy your freedom while you can.

Just delete it all together. Won’t set the cel at all. There’s no downstream 02 sensor on your car

Had a 91 Chevy Cheyenne with the 350 TBI cut the cat off and y pipe dual straight back sounded mean as hell

Sounds throaty, I like it 👌
just did a bypass before the muffler on my 93, i want it it before the cat but the guy was already welding it nice new products mods keep coming out
Holly Molly 1st version sounds perfect! Continue... and 2nd version with high flows just make it loud and raspy.
Thts the point 😅

Whats the link for the highflow cat
I though would make small difference but it sounds better with hi-flow cat

How many cells in hiflo cat?

What’s that whistling when he revs in the interior.
Will highflow cats make the check engine light come on? What cat do you recommend that flows well , built well and does through a CEL?

Massive difference in decibels

Do you have a link for the high flow?
Could be me, but I prefer the stock sound
I used a glass pack for my resonator
Lol question is would it pass smog
Nice duel tail pipes
Does this truck have headers as well?
Hi, if you change your hi flow cat converter, do you have to change your muffler to hi flow muffler or I can leave my stock muffler
You can keep the muffler. But if you want really good sound, go hi flow cat with a muffler delete.
Stepside yes
Sounds surprisingly good!
Anyone have a link to purchase the hi flow cats ? For a 1986 c10
4000 rpm redline starts. LOL..
what a difference

Can you actually run a car with no cats ?
Not in Tennessee; they do emissions testing there. Now, in Alabama or Mississippi...anything goes; they literally don't care.

legally no but most cars with a delete will run just fine youll have a check engine for cat inefficiency but itll run and drive normal for most cars

Always. Or no cars at all. OE cats are gay
Do hi flow cats still pass smog?
Not always if the CEL comes on.. Mini cat o2 Sensors help pass tho..
Usually it does. The closer the cat is to the exhaust manifold, the better chance of passing smog
How much does this help with strong exhaust fumes for a 78 truck?
