CT is time, CC is dimensions, so logically CB would be space. The potential jumping-off point is in CC--Starky. We KNOW there are other intelligent species on planets out there. Furthermore, we KNOW Lavos is a species, so more planets have and will deal with this menace.
After defeating Lavos and merging the dimensions, a side-effect would be that Guile would have his memory restored; he actually is Magus as originally-intended. He would have been given Schala's pendant and, as the rest of the world went on in bliss, he would sense somehow the threat is not yet truly gone. A series of solo adventures would ultimately have him meet up with Starky, who would confirm his fears.
Meanwhile, Chrono, Lucca, Glenn, and Marle are revealed to be alive and the next few levels/arcs would see them going to El Nido, Medina, and Choras to put down incursions by Porre and put together a united insurgency against their growing might. After accomplishing this goal and reaching the leader, it's revealed it's been Dalton all along. Dalton was an extension of Lavos called an Interloper (all members of the species have one). They direct events on the surface to coincide with Lavos's goals and, should he die, they're imbued with the power to travel time and realms to undo the heroic victory. They also have their full power unlocked via all the material and energetic remains of Lavos upon destruction being funneled into them.
The group fights valiantly, but they're defeated. When all hope seems lost, Magus arrives with Starky armed with knowledge of Dalton's weakness. With all finally set right on Earth and its future secure, Starky finally reveals his presence on Earth is no accident and that Dalton actually used some of his Zeal-Porre tech to shoot down his craft in cross because, the Interlopers actually act as space-time communicators and the species are, in fact linked. Starky was actually sent here to recruit Earth as one of the few known worlds to kill a Lavos parasite!
What follows is a series of quests across space and time on other worlds. You'd defeat different iterations of the titular beast evolved specifically for the world on which they feed. Ultimately, the player would gather clues as to its nature, its origin, and finally...they'd face the unholy, Lovecraftian Progenitor.
The final battle would take place at the Megamassive Black Hole at the center of the universe. What we'd find out upon defeating the Progenitor is that black holes really do open up to an inverted parallel universe. You'd find out that our mirror verse was stunted and most of the viable material for making lasting stars, galaxies, planets, and LIFE ended up in ours. So, that universe has only ever known decay, desperate scarcity, death, and failed creation. The Progenitor is its oldest lifeform and it evolved the ability to send small pieces of itself through both sides without being destroyed. It's was gathering usable material to improve its own universe and doing so by force is all it knows.
As it dies, defeated, the final moment of the story would harken back to CC and "changing what you fight for and the way you fight" as The Entity is revealed to be the spirit of all Life in our universe. The Entity gathers all unused nebulae, comets, asteroids, and even failed brown dwarf stars and sends them to the other side. The last thing the Progenitor experiences before it dies is this act of kindness and mercy and its realm finally becoming able to form viable galaxies, stars, and planets of its own--a chance for lasting life. A future...
Just as the Entity is the Spirit of Universal Life, The Progenitor is the Spirit of Cosmic Death. They are the embodiment of Yin and Yang and when he dies, so does she. Now, the universes are both equal in their lifespan and ability to create. As she too fades, her last words to her counterpart...
"Now, both our realms will live and die. But when that distant day comes for both of them, it's not the end. They will die, but new universes will be born. They always have; they always will. It's fitting you and I, Alpha and Omega, depart this plane of existence to that mystery which lies beyond time and space, because despair not. There is really no beginning nor an end. The cycle of Life and Death...Destruction and Rebirth...they are eternal. Nothing is ever truly gone, it simply changes form in another time snd place. Just as you and I will now. See you on the other side........."
That is probably the best fan-made conclusion to the Chrono series I will ever read.
As much as I would love another entry in the franchise, be prepared to be hit by a cease and desist order if you do anything beyond a trailer.
That's why when people make things like this, they (or someone else) need to (preferably anonymously) get the installation files out to popular torrent sites ASAP so when the C&D letter hits, they can remove it from their site but can't erase it from availability completely.
Exactly and though Toriyama passed away a few weeks ago this year they still NEVER made a Sequel to BOTH Chrono Trigger and Cross YET.
