We’re so fast approaching the 20 year anniversary of AVGN…mental.
I wish we got AVGN The Movie 2, but with a smaller production, not as expensive as original one. Would love to see it
@@TextureKing like a direct to streaming thing?
@@TextureKing The original one was dirt cheap as movies go.
20 Years!!!!!????
fk im getting old
Always the best curtain to get a peek behind
Hey I know you
Nice to see you here. Don’t leave too quick. Or film it.
Before you close it
hi 😃
You guys were the last people I thought I'd ever see here lol
It's so rare yet so beautiful when a youtuber remains funny and strong after all of this years,i can't wait for the 20th anniversary
I still remember that one video of a making of an AVGN episode so it's pretty nice to see a video like script ideas on the writing and thought process behind this.
I couldn't agree more!
Thank you so much for making AVGN. I know that at some point it gets tiring. Still very grateful to be able to watch those episodes.
Yes. I am going through some very serious, extreme depression, and putting on AVGN on shuffle always makes me happy.
@@BlackMetalWarHope you're feeling better
Whenever someone asks me how I got into learning and getting better in English, I never fail to mention AVGN. Now I have a job in an English speaking country and feel like it's a bit thanks to James.
Same, dude!
We owe James a lot
Amazing
I also mention him in that situations! :D
i'm glad james still having fun of making avgn. i watch this series since i was in elementary school. this show means a lot to me. it's my childhood teenagerhood and adulthood memory. thanks for the hard work over almost 20 years!
Wow, that's generous, bro. I wish I could thank people with that kind of dough
@@lidmc796just buy some merch my dude :)
Thanks James, you should drill more holes in childhood desks
That's hard 80s wood bro.
Big 80s wood fan btw
The sheer stupidity of that entire video is seriously appalling. This is what happens you get so burnt out you just go onto autopilot.
@@pisslord4150 which video
4:21 Still one of the greatest moments of the show. We will miss him.
I had no idea he died. And today's an anniversary of his death...
It amazes me that since the dawn of RUclips, you still manage to come up with new, creative, and clever scripts that always feel fresh. And a huge shout out to Mike for helping create some of your most iconic insults, curses, and jokes.
Are we watching the same show?
Mike does a great job.
Are we on the same page here?
i just wanna say Although his series is mainly about reviewing old video games. I thoroughly enjoy his cinematic episodes. His directing skills really show in them.
agree
James, your football rant is forever my absolute favorite. 😅
Lloyd Kaufman, Gilbert Gottfried, Macaulay Culkin, man you have met some of my biggest heroes in life and I am so envious of you
This is the kind of cinemassacre content we LOVE
Nah, I just want avgn, to each their own though.
@@megyskermike People with creative minds appreciate videos like this, to each their own though.
I’m not even a creative person and I really enjoy these videos. If I like & enjoy something a lot, then I usually also enjoy watching how that thing is created. AVGN is one of my favorite things ever to watch, so I always enjoy learning how it’s created too.
The common tie between AVGN and CHH is their genuine love and passion for the content they cover.
Awesome video James! Behind the scenes stuff like this is always very informative and entertaining!
Great video James, but you’re still the OG, the grandfather of angry reviews. There will never be another AVGN.
You've certainly given me many years of enjoyment James and I can't ever thank you enough for that. It was also your videos that inspired me to make my own and come back to RUclips. Here's to hoping both of us can spread joy for years to come.
Love your work Mike. Just watching all your making off videos. Keep up the work, take your time if needed. I love the cinematic episodes but appreciate the simple ones a lot more now. Please keep on going, we all want more episodes to come.
It amazes me that since the dawn of RUclips, you still manage to come up with new, creative, and clever insults, curses, and jokes that always feel fresh.
But he has a co writer that wrote most of them bro. Since the beginning.
@@freshnesbro3792 Thats Mike
AVGN is the content that made him famous
An entire room of old games to pick from, but there are hardly anymore reviews.
I love the technical breakdowns on how James puts his videos together. It’s so fascinating and you can tell he’s extremely committed to his craft. Bravo! 👏🏻
that bit about how you wanted the audience to know youre having fun even though the character is angry is what separated james from all of the "angry gamer" clones that popped up after the nerd became popular. Most of them just seemed mean-spirited and cynical, but the nerd was always fun.
I know people have their issues with Mike, but I genuinely enjoy what he brings to the table.
Mike is that guy 😄
I honestly think is time to past that page already. Yeah he did wrong but nobody is perfect either . We all deserve a second chance.
He's back?
@@dbone3356
Not as a full time Cinemassacre member, but he still helps now and then.
I miss his card titles like in the older videos
You’ve been doing this for so long that you’re pretty much a master at it. The Avgn videos are still funny and a joy to watch
I know, right. You would think James would have jumped the shark years ago, but nope, I still love his nerd videos- and his James talking as himself videos but they are kind of a different thing.
@@thorium3737he did. He's said as much himself implicitly
He is a master of his craft.
The Fester's Quest episode was the one that got me started with this series. I've been watching ever since and I look forward to what's in store for us down the road. 🙂
Bless you, James Ralfe. Another excellent film from my favorite movie curator. I was beginning to enter the dark times today, but luckily, the video just came out and saved me.
You too? Weird af.
is he really your favourite movie curator when you aren't even a subscriber? also, it's "rolfe".
It's Jomes Ralfe
I had to mute the video and turn on the subtitles.
I love the behind-the-scenes stuff that James puts out.
4:20 is legit one of the funniest ad-libs ever. James almost lost it as Gilbert Gottfried talks about being uneducated and Buffalo shit
I still think "Happy Birthday...F--L YOUUUUUUU!" hits harder.
You can tell he’s thinking to himself, “Don’t you DARE laugh James. I don’t care if I’m smirking, WE NEED this clip in!”
Blaze it 😎🚬

Thank you for your work!
It is really a joy watching you.
Loved your movie as well!
It's cool to get a behind the scenes of AVGN, always enjoy the videos.
Keep doing what you're doing.
Cheers.
This was awesome man. We need more of this every few months.
Also, I can’t wait for that earth worm gym episode!
I love your avgn series so much. Nothing is better than getting a new episode.
Cool pfp
Who is Mike? Do you mean Matei, the guy from your book?
“[…]but it’s meant to look effortless[…]”
Probably the best advice of the entire video. Thank you James 🙏
Oh I'm glad you gave a shout out to Mike and Kieran. I've been watching Mike stream now for a few years and have watched AVGN since the start. You're all great, and I appreciate all the entertainment you guys provide. It always makes me laugh to see Mike's gameplay footage come into an AVGN video.
Thanks for all the content James. Your back catalogue of episodes and seasons has a very high rewatch ability and nostalgia for me. I’m glad you still enjoy making them for us. Take care 🫡
Cinemassacre lore will always be my favorite videos. Loving the insights and behind the scenes. I hope all is well!
This was really great. I love that old coop between James and Mike. It is incredible what James was able to accomplish up until now.
Keirin left and this aged great
As a avgn fan who's being following this show since 2008, this is super interesting! Thanks for being as awesome as always james!

You make the most wholesome and heart felt content on youtube. Always have, always will. I Love what you do James and I am so happy we get to enjoy it a bit more. Cheers.
Regarding the playing and rcording the game....Mikes twitch is also been used as a source.
the only source
Nicely done video and very informative too, but also I really am impressed even more now with the entire process you do when creating these episodes.
Been a fan for years, so I knew you set these up pretty professionally. That and you went to school for filmography.
I just finished the new audiobook and I’m blessed with even more behind the scenes info.
Just finished yesterday.
James is a legend. AVGN is an amazing part of internet history and has given me so much joy over the years
Odd of this to come oit after big k left
Love the work you do! I started watching in 2017 and have watched ecery episode! One of my personal favs was the power rangers episode ill never forget you trying to take out those blocks of sand.
Still the greatest retro video game reviewer ever.
yup
Maybe like 10 years ago
Definitely not too shabby, James! My friends, family and I always look forward to your videos! Keep on gaming, man!
THERE GOES THE ONION
@cinemassacre Makes me wonder if you'll ever do a non-linear AVGN episode like Pulp Fiction almost. Why not? Lol
Thank you for all your hard work. As the "audience", I am entertained!
he hasn't been doing much work on AVGN, all he does is film himself, everything else is done by other people
@@noahkrause2835 don't tell me you're one of those dopes...
That grass or turf was the funniest thing ever
Yesss ive always wondered how these are made!
The best and most influential creator on RUclips.
I always been wondering how you make each episode and now I know thanks so much for this video
Oh wow! This is a long one, going to make some popcorn after work and watch the whole thing.
For all these past years and many to come!
Long live the Nerd! Long live James!
All these years later, you still got it man. Even managed to make the behind-the-scenes video entertaining. 10/10
Great video! Love the behind the scenes
I always get stuck doing videos and I came back to see the making of avgn or some behind the scenes but now I really need something likes this. Thanks James!
Aww man I had forgotten about Gilbert's passing until I saw that clip.
This is important tips for just about anyone who wants to do any kind of youtube review even reactions. Thanks James😊
Sorry to hear about what happened to Kieren.
Thanks for making a "follow-up" on that making of episode. That episode helped me and inspired me to do a video similar to your style on a game you probably will never cover, Dark Souls 2. Even still, I'm pretty satisfied with the result and I thank you for all those tips.
So are you still the primary player of the games? Often the credits refer to 'game footage from or by' Keiran, Justin or Mike. Sure the crew has changed a bit but I had the impression that not all the footage is from your own gameplay?
Thats true. Mike was/is the gamer
Most of the footage is Mike's.
This is basically the krabby patty secret formula
In SpongeBob it's obviously crab meat
Sounds like a lot of HOOPLAH!
Ravioli ravioli. Give me the formuoli
Now the future Cinemassacre AI can use these guidelines along with the entire AVGN library to churn out new episodes long after we're gone.
It’s always cool to see some behind the scenes stuff you do regarding AVGN or other projects you do James, keep up the great work!
Awesome video, James! I love when you make these type of videos, they're my favourite! I really love how you give us insight into how you work and why you do certain things, I find it super interesting and entertaining. Thanks for the great vid, and keep up the great work!
Yess! I love these behind the scenes videos
YES! -- THE FLAMING HOT CHEETOS KICK! 🥵💀❤🔥
I wonder how he feels about these AI copies of him floating around RUclips.
4:33 I'll be right back 😂 I never realized how awesome that is
So glad I got to meet you at a game con James! this was super informative, and I will be using that info for some of my own stuff so thank you for this great video man. Please post some guitar videos too if you get a chance!
James, the episodes don’t need to be crazy, but unhook the camera and take other shots. The Karate Kid episode has plenty of visual gags that made it iconic.
Hey, thanks for sharing this, James.
Been a fan for a while and legit always wondered how you did it all.
From day one it's always looked so effortless.
Thanks for the inspiration.
Great video James, coming from someone who has watched you from the beginning (fellow NJ resident) I appreciate all of the content and entertainment you have provided us for approximately 2 decades!!!! This was a great idea and really liked how you gave us a look into the other side of the camera and inner details of what goes into these videos that provide us so much enjoyment! I appreciate all that you do!
Thank you I've been wanting to learn about this thank you nerd
he made a video like this years ago
Chill, the best rant imo is the end of the Hong Kong 97 episode! That was really well done and expressed the Nerd in full view to me, he used his intellect to tie all that info together, just to summarize the meaning in his gritty fashion! It was such a well done segment to me! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾🔥
It’s almost like he’s done this before.
This is awesome man!
It's that episode you talked about Roger Corman, I realize the charm of AVGN is actually the spirit of guerilla filming. I learned film for a while and made some film, but never made something satisfying. I was taking it too seriously and expecting too much of it. The things I still enjoy watching is actually goofy stuff I filmed and edited for friends back then.
Better ask Mike
This was very helpful I been making videos for 5 yrs and when I started to do retro gaming I am still trying to figure out how to add humor in the review
Well, you have to be funny.
@anonamatron I know just have to find the best moments
I love going on side tangents. They're one of my favorite forms of humor. They're great improv practice and they work the brains story telling muscles. My friend and I once jokingly called it "Going on a Sidequest" which I'd say is rather accurate.
i just relized that soon ( next year lol ) ther will be 20 years since the start of AVGN. WOW
I was 22 when I started watching you. I’m now 37, I still get the best entertainment out of your content. Literally cry laughing still lol. You created a legendary character.
Specially love the hardware reviews
Those are always fun.
Bro we love you. You remind me of funnest parts of my past in video games

Great insight, James. It'd be very interesting to see you 'remaster' or 'remake' older episodes as a play on all the remasters out today.
So like the Superman 64 episode?
@@Graf27green Yes, ones that may also have remakes or remasters made for the original game. James could get creative, jazz up old scripts.
Like the Back to the Future Revisited episode?
Thank you so much James these kind of videos are some of my absolute favorites you put out!
I love you James. Have watched every AVGN episode at least twice.
Hey James, this is a great presentation on how your videos are made. Great video!
