Great video! Love the sincerity and quality of the content. Just genuinely helpful. Thanks!!
If Suragaya and Yellow Submarine are like other Japanese stores I’ve been to, it’s amazing how much stock they can cram into the available space. Often only one copy, as you said, so having the title written in Japanese to give to a non-English speaking salesclerk will permit him/her to help.
For sure! Can't tell you how many times I've just gone to a store with a picture and they were either able to help me find it in-store, at another location, or online.
just what I need for my upcoming trip!
On this note now that you've grown my collection thanks to the great content videos you upload, I notice that I have no way to organize these small box games while showing them off like my big box games! Would love to see a video or a post of how you organize all the small games with your big games 🙏
Great tips for sure!
Thanks so much!
Thanks for the tips and made me miss the streets (and stores) of Tokyo and Osaka.
Great video! I do wish you mentioned the best way to buy and ship a game to your native country if staying for a prolonged stay out can't carry in luggage
Oh that would be a good question to do in the future, thanks! And thanks for watching :)
Thanks for this really informative video. Can’t wait for our trip to Japan in a few days. Your videos have been a great help.
Oh please have a great trip! Let us know what you end up buying!
I didn't know how foreigners check japanese board games. interesting.
Recently Yodobashi camera has a lot of space to sell popular board games as well.
Thanks for watching! Yeah we mention Yodobashi as a great spot some people might not think to look :)
What about a list of Japanese board games that are simple to play and may be useful/simple to those learning Japanese?
Great idea! Thanks for the suggestion :)
Hi there! Thanks for the tips! Is there any store you recommend that sells online and ships to the US?
In March we are going to do an update video including answers to that question! But I think many people use buyee or zenmarket to ship from Japan stores or Amazon JP
@@TheBoardGameDojo thank you, pal! I´ve been browsing through Amazon JP, but couldnt find much stuff :(
Hi! It’s a new year! Do you happen to plan on releasing a follow up or updated guide? Or has the recommendations not really changed much? Thank you!
To be honest, the recommendations haven't really changed much. We might do an updated guide but I think 98% of the information would be the same
@@TheBoardGameDojoty! Do you have any recommendations for actual games to look into? I saw your video about ito and it seems up my alley! (Down for anything really but bonus points if it’s easier to teach)
@@dadoeboi101 Oh wow that is a tough question off the bat. I would start with our most recent videos in which we talk about our top 10 games, games to bring to the holidays, holiday gift guide videos, and our videos in December. All of the games in those videos are recommendations from us. You can also talk to people and get their opinions in our discord channel discord.gg/YZ25rYG5CG
@@TheBoardGameDojo will do, ty for steering me in a direction! We plan to travel to Japan in a few months, so I’m trying to scope out recommendations beforehand.
Recently went to jelly jelly store in ikebukuro. Nice little store with really nice collection. Also love our small version of can't stop
My resolution is to buy less and play more. Where do you get you're English games?
That's a great one! We buy our games at Surugaya, which is actually why we mentioned them :)
I'm looking for board game themed figures / accessories / merch in Tokyo. So not actual board games but stuff related to board games. Any ideas anyone?
Great video btw, appreciated it!
that's a tough one. Best luck for accessories for like TTRPG would be Yellow Submarine, the Surugaya in Akihabara has a lot of playmats....for board game themed figures I have no idea, sorry. Thanks for watching!
@@TheBoardGameDojo Yea figured it was a long shot, thx anyways. I found yellow submarine and ill try to find surugaya too. Thanks again, cheers
